Am at this urgent care with my wife, who has Medicare Parts A. B. As well as AARP Supplemental who fell and has severe pain in her upper left ribs. They refuse to treat her because she noted on the form they gave her that she fell at work. Three of the staff told me until they get permission from her employer that it would be paid by the employers workman's coverage, they will NOT treat her because Medicare will not cover her if her injury happened at work. I told them they were mistaken; Medicare would pay for their treatment of her. The “Senior” staff member, who came out from the back, to deal with me, said they have their rules and their rules say they won’t treat Medicare patients who have work related injuries, because Medicare won’t pay them. I informed her that was incorrect, Medicare would pay for the treatment, all they had to do is submit it. She said I was free to leave if I didn’t like it; “In fact I think you should leave, you are not a pleasant person”, said with a snarl on her lip. Of course I have called Medicare and they confirmed that my wife’s treatment would be covered; all Collier Urgent Care had to do is call the Provider hot line. We have now been here 45 minutes waiting while three other people who arrived after us have been ushered in for treatment, and we sit.
