I went to Legacy Urgent Care in March 2021. I had been there once before and both times received amazing service from the receptionists and intake nurses. They are a rare commodity in this world and should get the highest praise. This complaint however, is about the main doctor, Michael Schlaack. I have never been treated so poorly in my entire life! I went in for help with numbness in my back and extreme pain in my shoulder. He did not let me explain my symptoms at all and kept cutting me off every time I started to talk. He shamed me for not wanting to take a medication known for raising glucose levels in Type 1 Diabetics. To that, he actually got up in my face and sneered, snickered and jabbed (I am NOT exaggerating) about how I could handle less carbs in my diet, as he looked me up and down. I tried to explain that I am working very hard at keeping my blood sugars level and tried to show him my data but he quipped “I don’t care about that. You’re here to fix this”-and motioned to my shoulder. I had questions and each time I asked, he was extremely rude, condescending and irrational with his answers. I thought he was just trying to be sarcastic, but when he commented on my age (51) like I’m dead already, I was done. He then scolded me for not believing his diagnosis from the beginning instead of asking questions and I had had it. I told him that he needed help with his bedside manner and got up to leave. When I went to checkout I noticed that he didn’t give me the prescription I needed so he came over and wrote it out. He then looked at me and said to my face “You and I do not get along. Do not come back here”. To that I told him “You know, I thought you were just being sarcastic in there but now I see you’re just rude”. He walked away saying “Don’t darken my door again”. Schlaack does not deserve the M.D. after his name and needs to retire or seek employment perhaps at Walmart where he doesn’t have to speak to human beings.
