Sparkling Clean

Carbon Health Urgent Care, Irvine - 14443a Culver Dr
Scheduled my appointment online the night before. Super easy online process. Had my appointment set at 1:30pm, and I arrived at 1:20pm. Didn't get checked in until 2:30pm... Front office staff service was underpar today. Usually there's 2 people, but I noticed only 1 new worker struggling by herself. Other than that, excellent clinic. Everything is clean as always, staff is friendly as always.

So amazing these caring souls that work here! I came in last minute with my daughter and in the kerfuffle of illness and getting her there on time we forgot her ID. The appointment I had originally was at 6:30 and they close at 7. We didn’t get back there with the ID until 6:50. The angel at the front desk called me to see if I was still coming! They helped us thoroughly, thoughtfully and with incredible kindness. Thank you immensely.

Temecula 24 Hour Urgent Care - 41715 Winchester Rd, Temecula
Scheduled online appt was easy. The office itself appeared to be very clean and you can smell that the facility was and has been continuously being maintained with Lysol and whatever else. So good job there. Front office staff was average. I made a reservation for 12am. Got there at 11:50pm to check in. They called me back around 12:30am. At the time there was NO one in the lobby. Seemed pretty quiet in the rooms as well. I wasn’t seen by anyone till 1:15am. While I was waiting in the room, i can hear the nurses or the medical staff all gossiping about various topics. One of them I could tell was even cutting their nails! Gross and how extremely unprofessional and unhygienic. The medical table also didn’t even have a liner for patients to sit on. So who knows if they disinfect those or not. The medical staff surely seemed lazy (with the exception of the gentleman who kept cleaning and disinfecting the lobby area, he seemed like the only person that cared.) FYI, to the staff those doors aren’t sound proof so patients can hear EVERYTHING! The lady who took me back and checked my vitals was also the same lady who checked me in at front. (aren’t those 2 people supposed to be separate depts? Or does the front office admin staff also check in patients into the back and take vitals? That was the 1st time I’ve ever seen that happen and that already was questionable for me.) I needed to be seen for a severe hives breakout (2nd occurrence) from just having seen another urgent care dr at another location the day before. I figured I would try urgent care first vs going to ER, but in hindsight and immediately upon getting taken into the back, I knew I should have trusted my gut and went straight to an actual hospital and into ER where I know for sure I would have received the proper and appropriate medical and professional care. When the dr (not even sure what her official title was) finally arrived to my room, there was NO introduction of who she was, she just said “ok, so what are we seeing you for.” I told her everything stated above. I advised the urgent care dr, that the other dr that I was seen by on the previous morning, had already given a steroid shot. Let her know that the hives came back but even worse and I was experiencing pulsing in my head, and felt like a bubble in my throat made it hard to swallow but I was able to breath, however it was uncomfortable. These were new symptoms from what I had been experiencing. The dr didn’t even budge when I told her. She just said, “well I can give you another steroid shot.”  Her tone was very almost rude and bothered. If someone goes into the “medical profession” you would think they have more manners and are able to effectively communicate as well as empathize to the patients- after all isn’t that why you chose the field? To help and comfort people?! Well I didn’t get a good feeling about her proposed treatment and trusted my gut. Told her I declined to getting another steroid shot. Asked her if there was any other alternative to treatment because I was very uncomfortable, inflammed, itching and swollen. Her reply “well, the shot is the best thing or you will just be itchy, so what do you want to do?” She then proceeded to say that she can prescribe oral steroids. So I told her to just write the prescription and I’ll have an appt with my dr in the morning. She asked if I had blood work done- I told her no, I plan to see my dr in the morning and I can request lab work there. She said “ok yeah good, this way I don’t have to do lab work here.”  So, in short she never addressed my issue and concern about the bubble in my throat, my head pulsing and she didn’t put me on the table where patients usually sit. She looked at me from the chair that’s inside of a patient room. Before she left she never asked if I had any questions or what to look out for or what to do if I get worse. She just said she will write the prescription and walked out. 15 min later, the medical staff came in to give me the medicine and that was it. Since the lady never introduced herself I had to look at the prescription to read who prescribed it- her name is: Cindy Tran. I believe she’s a PA-C. I would NOT recommend her nor that facility unless it’s a small and minor issue. Anything that can be life threatening or severe- go directly to ER. I left that office at 2am with NO changes and just wasted my time and $.  After seeing one of my regular dr’s the following morning, explained to her the series of events. My dr told me that I was experiencing an anaphylactic reaction and that’s why the hives came back worse and has those additional symptoms. She said that PA should have administered the Epi pen and I would have gone straight to ER. So good thing my airways didn’t close because the following morning my eyes were so swollen and hives were even worse.  When I told her the dr wanted to give me another steroid shot, she just looked at me with an unbelievable reaction. I told her the dr prescribed me to take 3 of the prednisone (steroid) tablets for 5 days. She said that was too much and it should only be 1 tablet daily and take with food. This other Dr seen at 24 Hr Temecula urgent care said no need to take with food and take in the morning. Even though I told her I take my Levothyroxine pill for thyroid in the morning. Well that right there is already incorrect! Because the pamphlet for the steroid meds she gave me clearly states to take with food! So, there’s just so many things that could have went wrong had I listened to this health care provider. I’m glad I trusted my gut on this and I would never recommend this place and I do NOT recommend this PA- Cindy Tran! Horrible experience.

Mission Viejo A1C Testing

In the United States, one out of every ten people has diabetes, and one out of every three people has prediabetes. Diabetes is a chronic illness that affects your body's ability to convert food into energy. Blood glucose, sometimes known as sugar, is the body's primary source of energy. Your pancreas releases an insulin-like hormone when your blood sugar rises, which usually happens after you eat. Insulin facilitates glucose transfer into your cells, where it can be used for energy.

When you have diabetes, your body either does not produce enough insulin or does not respond to insulin as it should. This is known as insulin resistance. As a result, your blood sugar levels are too high, which can lead to serious health problems over time. Uncontrolled diabetes can cause nerve damage, kidney damage, eye damage, skin problems, and poor wound healing. Diabetes patients are more prone to hearing loss and depression. They're also at a higher risk of developing heart disease and dementia.

If you have diabetes or prediabetes, it's vital to monitor and manage your blood sugar levels. Testing for blood glucose should be done on a regular basis. A blood glucose test, on the other hand, only provides information on your blood sugar at a certain time. A1C testing should be done on a regular basis to acquire a more accurate picture of your average blood sugar levels throughout time. You should have an A1C test at least once a year if you have prediabetes. If you have diabetes, your doctor will likely suggest an A1C test every three months to ensure that your treatment is effective.

A1C Test FAQs

  • What is an A1C test?

An A1C test is a blood test measuring your average blood sugar level over the past two to three months. It’s often used to diagnose both type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and it can also be used to monitor how well treatment is working for people with diabetes. The test measures the percentage of hemoglobin proteins in the blood that are coated with sugar. The higher your A1C, the higher your risk of diabetes or complications related to diabetes.

  • How much do A1C tests cost in Mission Viejo?

A1C tests are relatively inexpensive and are often offered by pharmacies and walk-in clinics. Some facilities may offer A1C tests for $30 or less. If you have health insurance, you may not have to pay anything for an A1C test.

  • Does insurance cover A1C testing in Mission Viejo?

Insurance will often cover the cost of A1C testing. However, there may be some limitations. For example, they may cover the cost of the test only if you are diagnosed with type 1 or type 2 diabetes after the test. Or, the test may be covered only once every three months. To find out exactly what is covered under your insurance plan, call your insurance company or check your plan benefits on their website.

  • Where should I get an A1C test in Mission Viejo?

A1C tests are available at doctor’s offices, health clinics, urgent care facilities, and many pharmacies. Some clinics and pharmacies may offer walk-in A1C tests, but it’s a good idea to make an appointment to reduce your wait time. It’s also best to get your A1C test from a healthcare provider who can prescribe any necessary medications or help you develop a treatment plan if you are diagnosed with diabetes.

  • How long does it take to get A1C test results in Mission Viejo?

Depending on where you have the test, your results may be available immediately, or they may take up to a week. Some doctor’s offices can run the test results at their facility and give you your results in the same appointment. However, if your blood is sent to a lab for analysis, it may take a few days to a week to receive your results.

  • How do A1C tests work?

A1C tests look at the hemoglobin in your blood. Hemoglobin is a type of protein that carries oxygen throughout your body. When you have glucose in your bloodstream, it can stick to the hemoglobin. Once glucose is attached to the hemoglobin, it tends to stay there for the lifespan of the hemoglobin, which is around 120 days. The A1C test measures the percentage of hemoglobin in your blood that is glycated, meaning that it has glucose attached to it.

  • What is hemoglobin A1C in a blood test?

Hemoglobin A1C is the percentage of glycated hemoglobin in your blood. A normal A1C level is 5.7% or below. An A1C level of 5.7% to 6.4% indicates prediabetes, which means your blood sugar is higher than it should be but not high enough for a diabetes diagnosis. An A1C level of 6.5% or above indicates diabetes.

  • Do I need to see a Mission Viejo doctor before getting an A1C test?

You do not need to see a doctor prior to getting an A1C test. The A1C test is a simple blood test that only takes a few minutes. There’s no requirement to fast before the test or do anything else to prepare.

  • How can I book an A1C test on Solv?

Booking an A1C test on Solv is quick and easy. Simply enter “A1C test” into the search box on our website. You can use your current location or enter a different location. Then click the search button. You will be given a list of providers near you and available appointment times. Choose a time and location and enter your information to book your appointment.

  • Should I try at home A1C testing?

There are A1C tests available for home use, which are generally found to be accurate. A1C home test kits require collecting a sample of blood yourself. If you are accustomed to testing your blood glucose levels, the process is similar. However, if you have not been diagnosed with diabetes or prediabetes, you may want to schedule your A1C test with a healthcare provider who can prescribe any necessary medication and help you develop a treatment plan if you need it.
