  • Where can I get blood work after hours in Mount Shasta?

Outside routine work hours, most Mount Shasta labs and primary care offices are closed, however, most of the area’s urgent care and retail clinics are open later than typical business hours and on weekends. Book an after-hours visit to get prompt, no-hassle care and get your blood test results faster.

  • Who should get a blood test?

Blood tests provide a valuable look at your overall health and blood work should be done at least once a year. They offer a great way to catch illness or disease early on, or see how you are progressing with on-going treatment. Your doctor or healthcare provider typically orders blood tests for you during an annual physical or as necessary for a specific diagnosis. It’s possible to order your own blood tests without a doctor, particularly for things like STD tests or hemoglobin A1c tests.

  • Are video visits available for blood work in Mount Shasta?

While a blood test cannot be performed over video, your doctor can both initially prescribe blood tests using telemedicine, and review results with you virtually.

  • How much does a blood test cost in Mount Shasta?

Without insurance, blood work typically costs between $50 to $1,000, or sometimes more depending on the specific tests and the provider type you are having the tests performed at. At-home tests are available in most areas and could cost substantially less. Book a consultation with a lab testing provider in Mount Shasta today to get more details on the specific blood work you are looking for.

  • How long do blood tests take?

Blood tests can be performed either in-office or performed on samples that are sent to an outside lab. The collection itself should only take a few minutes, and the results could be ready within a few hours or up to one to two weeks depending on the test you are getting done. Once you’ve received your results, your doctor can discuss them with you either in-person, on the phone, or through a video visit.

  • Is blood work covered by my insurance?

Most common blood tests are covered under insurance plans, particularly when your doctor orders them as part of an annual physical or supporting a diagnosis. If you are self prescribing the test, however, it may not be covered by insurance. If you have questions about your specific insurance coverage, it is best to contact your carrier or your provider.

Had a 12 and 1 appointment for covid antigen test. Showed up 1/2 hour early to let them know we were outside. Got some additional paperwork to fill out. At *** we were told they were ready for us. Staff took weight, blood pressure, then nurse swabbed for a tigers. Dr came in to do a lung test, and other tests and let us know test results would be printed out and given to us shortly - - turned out to be less than fifteen minutes. Completely satisfied.

The doctor was great, the phlebotomist not so much. After 3 sticks he couldn't get blood, I told him where to stick me, and he didn't. Also, I went over to Lab Corp and the tech there got me with the first stick. She used a syringe to draw the blood, something your guy never tried.

I LOVE Dr. Sarac-Leonard. I am very grateful to have her as my doctor. I will say that I waited a long time in the lab. The woman who finally drew my blood was very nice, but the wait was very long.

Very short wait. One jab to get the blood is always a relief. The weakest link in the whole process is that sign in iPad. Several people were struggling with it while we were there and the front desk person was at lunch so nobody could help them.

Young lady doing my blood draw was very friendly. Explained everything and seemed to be very thorough in what she was doing . Knowledgeable. Would absolutely come back here again. Staff up front checking is was wonderful . I like going somewhere where the staff is friendly . A lot of places their staff is grumpy which makes your visit crappy. This place was nice. Thank you

I was in and out quickly. There was basically no wait time. The check in process was easy. The staff was courteous, kind and knowledgeable. The woman who did my blood work knew exactly what she was doing. I felt safe and comfortable. I will most definitely be coming back when I need lab work done in the future.

My appointment was for 9 am but I didn't get taken until 9:30. In their defense there were a lot of patients waiting. There should be something better in place for the intake person. When people are waiting out in the hall she has to get up and go out to call them in. This is not efficient nor fair to your employee. She was very good natured, in good spirits and a delight as was the lady who took my blood.

About Blood Tests

Blood tests are used as valuable snapshots of your current overall health and can be an effective way of catching illness or disease early, or measuring how you are reacting to new or on-going treatment. There are a variety of types of blood work with most common tests being complete blood counts (CBC), complete and basic metabolic panels (CMP, BMP), thyroid panels, nutrient tests, and sexually transmitted disease (STD) tests.

Each of these blood tests are fairly common and can be performed in a variety of settings including testing labs, primary care offices, urgent care centers, and even retail clinics and some pharmacies. Solv even has clinic partners in the Mount Shasta-area that offer online scheduling, allowing you to book a visit convenient to your schedule and skip the wait. The tests themselves take only a few minutes and usually are performed by a nurse or technician where they:

  1. Clean the area where they will draw blood from, usually your upper arm
  2. Tie a band to your upper arm to make your veins more visible
  3. Put a needle gently into a vein to draw blood into the attached tube
  4. Remove the needle, then the band from the vein when complete
  5. Cover the draw site with a bandage

Risks associated with blood work are very low, but could possibly include slight pain or discomfort at the draw site, dizziness or even fainting from blood loss, or vein puncture. It’s important to discuss any concerns you may have with your medical provider before the procedure begins.
