About CVS MinuteClinic

CVS MinuteClinic Logo

CVS MinuteClinic is a retail clinic inside of CVS Pharmacy in Chicago and is open today from 9:00AM to 5:30PM. They are located at 1228 E 53rd St and open 7 days per week. Of course it's always best to call in advance to confirm hours of operation before walking in.

Retail clinics offer a wide range of services overlapping considerably with those of a traditional walk-in urgent care center. That said, they are usually staffed by a Practitioner (NP) rather than a medical doctor and generally do not have an on-site x-ray or lab services, which will prevent them from seeing patients with more advanced injuries and illnesses.

CVS MinuteClinic has received an average rating of 3.0 stars out of 5 across more than 2 total reviews.

I’m writing to report medically unethical and dangerous behavior by your clinician Fatima E, the practitioner at the 1228 E 53rd St Minute Clinic on Chicago’s South Side. She refused to provide me with her full name. I came to the CVS clinic as I do every year to renew my annual oral contraceptive rx. Each year this is a routine process that takes minutes, and I've been on this pill for 15 years. Fatima apparently does not believe that women should have access to oral contraceptives, and for 30 minutes asked me inappropriate and invasive questions about my sex life, and kept insisting that I needed to go through additional tests before she could give me an rx -- a pregnancy test, a heart rate test, a blood pressure test, etc. She then said that she could only write an rx for 3 months at a time, and that I would have to come back each time for a new rx -- utterly and patently untrue. She kept making up new excuses to not write the rx, and it became clear to me after 30 minutes of this that she had no intention of doing so. I ultimately walked out of the appointment after she started shouting "It's my decision! It's my decision!" I have the last five minutes of this 30 minute exchange recorded on my iPhone. Someone who wants to project their personal views onto women's bodies has no business working as a medical professional in the year 2019. CVS and the MinuteClinic must hold their clinic practitioners medically and ethically responsible and take action to ensure that this never happens again.
