Staff member up front taking my paperwork was not friendly . However it was on a Sunday and 2 hours from closing so I assume that she had, had a rough day and ready to go home. All other staff were phenomenal. The nurse that took me back made me feel like I really mattered and was very helpful and just a joy to work with. The doctor, I can’t say enough good things about her she was fantastic and had a wonderful bedside manner and truly cared. I would definitely go back if the need ever arises. Thank you for your time.

There were very good points to the visit and not so good points. The lady at the front desk was very abrupt almost rude. The nurse was not much better. Very snarky. The PA, Josh, was very nice and helpful as was the x-Ray tech. All in all not bad but first impression not good.

Lab Tests FAQs

  • Where should I get a lab test in Asheville?

Doctors commonly order lab tests and can refer you to one or more reputable lab test centers in your area. Tests can be performed in Asheville hospitals, urgent care centers, and walk-in clinics that specialize in lab testing. Your healthcare practitioner can supply you with a list of lab test providers, or you can use Solv to see what's available in your area.

  • How much do lab tests cost?

The cost of a lab test is determined by several factors, including the type of test, your location, whether you have insurance, and the fees charged by the lab test provider. Many health insurance providers will cover the cost of lab testing in part or in full. Those who do not have insurance, on the other hand, will almost certainly face higher costs. Contact lab test providers directly to confirm the cost of your lab test based on your health insurance benefits. • Does insurance cover lab testing?

The easiest way to find out if your health plan covers lab testing is to contact your insurance carrier directly or ask the lab test provider to check your insurance benefits and verify price. Many health insurance plans will cover lab tests that your doctor determines are medically necessary for your illness. • How long does it take to get lab test results in Asheville?

Lab test results may be available in minutes, hours, days, or weeks, depending on the type of test performed, lab staff productivity, and your doctor's availability. Some lab test providers let you see your results as soon as they're available online, while others need you to wait for your doctor's answer. Your doctor or the lab provider can give you a more accurate estimate of when your lab test results will arrive.

  • What is a routine lab test?

A basic lab test may evaluate your red and white blood cell counts to discover if you have anemia, a blood infection, or blood cancer. It may also test fat levels in your blood to determine your risk of heart disease and examine the health of your organs, such as your heart, kidneys, and liver. Your healthcare provider will be able to explain what a typical lab test entails.

  • What STDs can be detected by a blood test?

A blood test can identify STDs such as syphilis, HIV, hepatitis C, and herpes. Your doctor may order that blood be collected and submitted to a lab, or that you undergo STD testing at a lab test provider. STD test results might arrive in minutes, days, or weeks, depending on the lab test company you work with.

  • Do I need to see a doctor before getting a lab test?

Before performing specific tests, some lab test providers require a doctor's referral, while others do not. The benefit of seeing a doctor before getting a lab test is that you can assess whether or not you need one based on your symptoms and a physical examination. A doctor can also help you decide which tests are necessary.

  • How can I book a lab test on Solv?

On our home page, please specify the type of lab service you desire, as well as your location and state. Solv will give you with a list of lab test providers in your area, as well as their contact information, so you can make an appointment right immediately.

  • How long does getting a lab test take?

The majority of lab tests are completed in a matter of minutes, but certain providers may have extensive wait times that require you to spend up to an hour in the lab. To limit the amount of time you spend waiting for your lab test, schedule an appointment with Solv ahead of time.

  • Should I try at-home lab testing?

Privacy, convenience, and accuracy are all advantages of at-home lab testing. Some at-home lab testing services, however, may not be covered by your health insurance plan. Some healthcare practitioners may seek additional lab tests to corroborate their diagnosis of specific health concerns. Consult your doctor to see if at-home lab testing is appropriate for you, given your unique health situation.Privacy, convenience, and accuracy are all advantages of at-home lab testing. This is my favorite place for Covid testing. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I can tell that the nurse practitioners take care with the telemedicine calls. And they’re tests are 96% accurate 👍🏼

Mercy Urgent care is the ONLY location in the entire town of Brevard conducting Covid test before Christmas. While the wait was a touch long, everyone appeared to be understanding, given the tremendous demand for Covid test. The staff was wonderful and very apologetic for the wait times, as they diligently tried to accommodate the needs of each patient. I received a call regarding my test results (thankfully negative) within the 30 minute time frame as promised. I would definitely recommend Mercy Urgent Care.

- Verified patient on 12/24

Jennifer came right on the phone very polite went through some stuff with me about my covid test it was a great experience I was like so stressed about it but it was turned out to be wonderful.

- Verified patient on 11/19

Other than being sick for about a week I was glad that my test came back negative and I got medicine called in to take care of the problem so it was great

- Verified patient on 10/27

This was so easy and convenient. Needed a rapid test for traveling. Never had to leave my car. I got there about 15 minutes early & I was done before my official appointment time. I will definitely go back if the need arises.

- Verified patient on 11/17

I went in for a covid test and since my cell phone was broken they did accommodate me to come inside and were very thorough and polite made it very easy for me. I did the online checking and it was easy but lengthy I have insurance so cost was zero. Wait time was short. and check in in was easy. online booking was simple but lengthy yes, yes I would recommend them.

After a difficult time at our family provider insisting I had covid and asking me to please leave there premises I was told to go to Mercy Urgent Care in WEAVERVILLE NC. They couldn't have been more acceptable and helpful. Covid test was negative and I was given help for my issue.

- Verified patient on 12/10

Making the appointment on the website was jot easy. The site would not take my uploads for my license. Had to call to make an appointment. The scheduling for a covid-19 test and a telemedicine appt was a hassle, but I understand that difficulty of these times. Once I got to the facility, experience was wonderful.

- Verified patient on 1/10

The doctor I spoke with in my virtual visit was very nice, but I don't know if she has actually scheduled me for a test and it's impossible to get to a person. MY post visit paperwork makes no mention of when my test is, but talks about what kind of test it is and what to expect afterwards. I need this before a medical procedure and I don't know how to confirm and get the time of the appointment.

- Verified patient on 2/11

Overall, my experience at Mercy Urgent Care was positive in every way. The doctor was very positive and engaged during the teleinterview, my time at the clinic was quick and easy, and I had my COVID-19 testing results back in less than 30 minutes.

- Verified patient on 1/2

Telemedicine visit was great and Juliana was very helpful with excellent bedside manner. She sent my information over quickly to ensure rapid testing and educated me on future care as well.

- Verified patient on 1/23

Everything went well until I tried to access the Covid & strep test results but I couldn’t get in with the password that worked for the first email. It would be nice to have someone answering your phones after hours so I could know whether or not to give the prescribed antibiotic.

Myself and 2 other people were getting tested for the dreaded co-vid virus all in the same vehicle. We did drive up to the urgent facility and do things there because we were not sure how the process went. After talking to the practitioner which by the way was totally awesome we waited for about 30 minutes. We then proceeded to call the front desk back and just asked how much longer because the practitioner said it shouldn't be much longer after we got off the call with her. The person at the front which was very impersonal said she didn't know. They were very busy. So we continued our wait and an hour has gone by. Finally the guy came out and said he had been waiting for the front to let him know. He was wondering why no one had let him know. By the way he is the only one that does the tests for them. He apologized for the mix up and was very awesome. If it had not been for him coming outside on his own we would probably still be there....... I didn't rate the time because it was ridiculous so less than 1. I didn't rate the staff because I just rated the front desk. It was also less than 1. I did comment about the two people that we dealt with and I give them a 10. The visit could have been all stars if it hadn't been for the one person that is the hub of the facility. They need to start back with any classes 101. I've worked in a doctors office before and the front desk controls the office. That area needs much improvement. These are very hard times and I don't mind to wait my turn but we should have been out of there about 10 to 20 minutes after we got off the phone with the practitioner. Just wanted to say my piece!

Drive up Covid test and video meeting. All went well. Curbside test by Amber was done quickly and friendly with explanation. Video worked well enough and all info coming to me came quickly

- Verified patient on 1/7

It was hard. Had trouble breathing with a mask (asthma). Wanted to fill out forms and deal with everything NOT virtually. So the receptionist let me have the forms in the car. I was there from 8 or so until noon. Dan (EMT) thawed and was fine as did the receptionist. Powell super friendly and appealing. X ray guy fine. Glad I went but not surprised that Covid test was negative and chest x ray ok. Thank God I wasn’t kicked out to be fobbed off on the ER because I did NOT want to go: I am not suicidal. 😜 Bravo Urgent Care! 👩‍🌾

- Verified patient on 11/17

It was far COVID rapid test. The online process could be a lot better. Older people has a hard time getting processed. I had to call you and then do it on my smart phone. A lot of older people don’t have smart phones

- Verified patient on 1/25

Prompt service, good guidance during virtual visit. Compassionate and quick COVID testing when I was directed to the office. Appreciated a personal call about the result. Some of the data (meds, email address) didn’t populate from the registration “paperwork” to the EMR and had to be verbally repeated and entered by the provider. I believe that providers should have their credentials/degrees listed in addition to thei name.

- Verified patient on 12/16

All three people I worked with were very professional. The front desk made everything flow (including changing my phone number to make a virtual visit possible). Philip is one of the nicest nurse practitioners that I've ever worked with. The lady who came out to actually do the test was amazing and very understanding and very friendly as well.

- Verified patient on 12/20

Excellent experience. I appreciated the Urgent Care testing me for flu, also, and not just Covid. The doctor was very caring and thorough on the virtual call. I thought the Staff was very professional.

Asheville Lab Tests

Lab tests take samples of your blood, urine, saliva, and other bodily secretions, which are then analyzed in a lab to help doctors diagnose and treat certain illnesses. Lab tests can be used to diagnose an illness, detect changes in an existing condition, and monitor how your body responds to a therapy, among other things. The personnel at the lab testing facility will demonstrate how to do each type of test.
