I came in with shoulder pain x3 weeks secondary to a fall. The tech that took my history and vitals and the PA that treated me were awesome. The rad tech was a little dismissive assuming the pain was arthritis. She seemed a little bored. The PA recommends I follow up with ortho. I will be doing that this morning. I hope I never need your services again but I won't hesitate to go to your facility if I do. Thank you

I liked how the wait time was not very long for an urgent care (about 35 min) there were 3 actual doctors working and not just 1 mid level, like you would typically see. It gave me confidence that I was getting the best care possible.

This was the second time I have been to this urgent care. Upon arrival the front receptionist was on a personal cell phone call and moved over to the window to complete her call before acknowledging my presence. Waited approximately 4-5 minutes for her to finish. I would expect there to be some sort of policy to prohibit this unless on a break. Otherwise visit was okay.

Our experience at Mercy Urgent Care of Burnsville was exceptional. From the staff who checked us in at the front to the provider “Gerry” who cared for my husband. Everyone was kind and professional and we appreciate that so much. My husband received the care he needed and we are so grateful. Thank you to everyone we saw during our visit on January 4, ***. If we ever find ourselves needing care we won’t hesitate to visit Mercy Urgent Care in Burnsville. They come highly recommended from our family.

Urgent Care FAQs

  • How much will an urgent care visit in Asheville cost?

The price charged at an urgent care, whether in Asheville or elsewhere, will be based on the location, and there are no actual standard costs between the clinics. Assuming you are paying with cash, you might come across an urgent clinic that charges you $50 while another situated some mile away charges you $100 for the same services. The standard cost in urgent care where insurance cover is not involved ranges from $100 to $125. This price is generally the standard price of a visit before extra services. There are a couple of additional care services that could make your appointment to an urgent care costly including x-rays and lab tests, medications and injections (such as immunization), casting broken bones, as well as stitches and splints. If you have a viable insurance plan in place, the standard pay will be between $20 – 50 depending on your insurance coverage and whether you are in contact with the provider.

  • Are Asheville urgent care centers open after hours?

Most primary care doctor offices are open during routine work hours, Monday thru Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Conversely, most of the urgent care centers in Asheville are available after hours, on weekends, and many holidays. Typical urgent care hours are 8:00 am to 8:00 pm daily, although location-specific hours may vary.

  • Do urgent care centers in Asheville take appointments?

Historically, urgent care centers were strictly an on-demand, walk-in healthcare service mode. More recently, as consumer behaviors and expectations have evolved, many urgent care clinics have begun offering book ahead visits, allowing consumers to select a same-day or next-day time that works best for their schedule. Use Solv to find a Asheville urgent care center that offers advanced bookings (or appointments) and book online.

  • How do I book an appointment online with an urgent care in Asheville?

Solv allows Asheville residents and visitors to book urgent care visits online with just a few taps. Same-day and next-day visit times are generally available, and you can search for real-time availability clinics.

  • How can I find an urgent care in Asheville who takes my insurance?

Solv allows you to find any of the urgent care and walk-in clinics in Asheville, many of which accept most major commercial insurances. Just browse the clinics page to see if your carrier and plan is listed. If you are still unsure, it is best to contact the urgent care center directly for clarification.

  • Do Asheville urgent care centers offer virtual visits or telemedicine?

Many urgent care centers, including those in Asheville, now offer virtual visits or telemedicine for residents and visitors throughout the state. Virtual urgent care visits are generally booked online whether in advance or on-demand. Clinics that do offer virtual care have a video icon on their profiles.

  • What is the best urgent care center in Asheville?

While it would be easy to provide a list of urgent care centers in and around Asheville, 'best' is a challenging term to qualify. For some consumers, that could mean the closest location whereas other people may prioritize patient reviews, service costs, availability, or whether or not the provider accepts their insurance. With the list of locations above, use the filters provided to narrow the results to find the best urgent care for your needs.

  • What is urgent care?

Urgent care are available to assist patients that are looking for immediate, convenient medical care. In that manner, they are similar to an emergency room. The difference, however, is that ERs are meant to treat major, life-threatening injuries and illnesses while urgent care centers manage life’s minor bruises and bumps. In simple terms, an urgent care is seen as a walk-in health center that focuses in offering non-emergent health care conditions, including the treatment of the typical illnesses and injuries such as fractures and sprains, cuts and burns, scrapes, stings and bites, flu and cold symptoms, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, and much more. Most urgent care facilities offer both diagnostic and preventive care such as well visits, immunizations, STD testing and annual physicals. For regular visits and check-ups on these clinics, you should expect to pay between $20 and $100. The good thing is that most urgent care clinics will accept major PPOs and insurance cover, Medicare, as well as self-pay in the form of credit cards or cash. Urgent care clinics are located in most parts of the country in various regions to offset emergency room visits and provide a gap in healthcare services. They take patients during all hours of operations, which offer a significant convenience to most people who have and continue to undergo the need for sudden and immediate medical attention.

I scheduled a telehealth appt for covid testing and had the appointment in my car outside of the local urgent care center. I received the test quickly. One thing, Dr. Foster mentioned emailing/texting me information for LabCorp sign up so that I can see my covid results as soon as they are released and I have not received that info yet.

- Verified patient on 11/3

Overall, my experience at Mercy Urgent Care was positive in every way. The doctor was very positive and engaged during the teleinterview, my time at the clinic was quick and easy, and I had my COVID-19 testing results back in less than 30 minutes.

- Verified patient on 1/2

Was very sick with strep throat, which they confirmed with a culture. I returned a day or so later because my chest was in severe pain and I had difficulty taking a deep breath which felt similar to a previous experience when I’d broken a rib and punctured a lung. To be safe, I requested chest X-rays because I wanted to rule out a punctured lung. I was told the Xrays looked fine, but ended up having pneumonia, which I discovered a few days later at the ER. The staff at Mercy Urgent Care were quick and very friendly, and to be fair, I cannot be sure the pneumonia would have shown up on the Xrays yet and maybe that wasn’t what they were looking for or expecting to see so it would have been easier to miss even if it was there already, but it not being seen meant that I was on the wrong antibiotics for almost a week which allowed me to get significantly sicker and I also now have thousands of dollars in hospital bills.

- Verified patient on 10/31

All of the staff, nurse Patricia, Nurse Practitioner, Nan, and X-ray Tech, Dana, were extremely nice. Nan spent a lot of time with me and was very thorough. I was very pleased with Mercy Urgent Care and would recommend this Clinic.

- Verified patient on 1/26

Dr. Steen was great. He took the time to answer all of my questions, and then he evaluated all of the information to make a thorough diagnosis. He obviously cares about his patients as individuals, and demonstrated compassion toward me and my situation. He made me feel like I was his only patient, and never felt rushed. He is a credit to the medical field. My initial video screening with the nurse practitioner was not so positive. He didn't seem to care about me as a person, and played down my symptoms, saying that it was probably just seasonal allergies, and that it was probably too early for antibiotics. To put it bluntly, he was flat out wrong, and I needed a prescription of antibiotics for a nasty ear infection. So my experience with him was completely uninspiring and worthless. Thanks to Dr. Steen, I got the expert care that I needed. The rest of the support staff was very friendly and professional. So overall, this was a great experience, in spite of the rough start with the nurse practitioner. And yes, I would gladly recommend your urgent care center to my friends and family. Thank you!

Mercy Urgent care is the ONLY location in the entire town of Brevard conducting Covid test before Christmas. While the wait was a touch long, everyone appeared to be understanding, given the tremendous demand for Covid test. The staff was wonderful and very apologetic for the wait times, as they diligently tried to accommodate the needs of each patient. I received a call regarding my test results (thankfully negative) within the 30 minute time frame as promised. I would definitely recommend Mercy Urgent Care.

After a difficult time at our family provider insisting I had covid and asking me to please leave there premises I was told to go to Mercy Urgent Care in WEAVERVILLE NC. They couldn't have been more acceptable and helpful. Covid test was negative and I was given help for my issue.

- Verified patient on 12/10

This was my first time coming to this Urgent care facility. I was greatly impressed with the precautions taken with protection from Covid-19. I was able to sit in my car until time for me to meet with the PA. Sarah was very attentive to the possible problems, and told me to return in 3 days if there was no improvement. My family doctor doesn't even tell me that. I will recommend this Urgent care any day.

- Verified patient on 10/19

This is 3rd time came to this urgent care, the staff has been so kind. It’s great to have this quality of care close by I have recommended this place to 3 other people Booked my appointment today on line Yes

- Verified patient on 12/8

Everything went well except the wait. I was not clearly communicated with on the procedure, in consideration of the COVID-19, and ended up waiting in my car for nearly an hour. I also waited nearly two weeks for the results of my Covid-19 test. LabCorp would not release the results directly to me, as was suggested by Mercy Urgent Care, so I waited until the results were available to me at Mercy. Covid-19 has turned a lot of things upside down, so I allow for such glitches without losing patience.

- Verified patient on 10/20

I would throw my Doctor out in a second if I could just see the Doctor from urgent care all the time! I may start stalking him just so I can keep up with what office he’s in each day (LOL ). So quick and accurate.God Bless!

- Verified patient on 4/10

When my son became ill with an URI suddenly, I was able to schedule a telehealth appointment quickly. The visit was promptly started and the provider was efficient while being kind and attentive. We were advised to have a COVID swab done at our nearest Mercy Urgent Care, and we were tended to and our visit complete within 10 minutes of arrival. Every person along the way was friendly and helpful, and when I called back to ask more questions, my concern was heard and I felt the answer was kind and thorough. I am very pleased with our experience and would definitely recommend Mercy Urgent Care!

My wife and I had an excellent experience with Mercy Urgent Care on our recent visit. Very little wait time and staff was top notch. Highly recommend Mercy Urgent Care should you and your family need immediate medical attention.

- Verified patient on 10/21

All staff members (one by video, one by phone, one in-person) were really nice and extremely helpful. Process from start to finish went pretty smoothly. Had to wait about half an hour, even with an appointment for a video visit, but still better than waiting for hours at other urgent care centers!

- Verified patient on 12/19

Very helpful and informative phone consultation, followed by a short wait time for the covid swab at the urgent care center. It will take a while to get my results, which is frustrating, but not their fault at all. I would recommend them if you're wanting to get tested.

- Verified patient on 6/30

It was hard. Had trouble breathing with a mask (asthma). Wanted to fill out forms and deal with everything NOT virtually. So the receptionist let me have the forms in the car. I was there from 8 or so until noon. Dan (EMT) thawed and was fine as did the receptionist. Powell super friendly and appealing. X ray guy fine. Glad I went but not surprised that Covid test was negative and chest x ray ok. Thank God I wasn’t kicked out to be fobbed off on the ER because I did NOT want to go: I am not suicidal. 😜 Bravo Urgent Care! 👩‍🌾

- Verified patient on 11/17

I've had to use this urgent care over the past few years and always have a great experience. I don't think I have ever had a long wait and they have gone out of there way to turn lights down when I have had a migraine there.

- Verified patient on 4/10

Although the wait-time was longer than expected, once the video visit began, it was quick and easy. The physician seemed caring, friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend video visits with Mercy Urgent Care to family and friends.

- Verified patient on 10/20

Thank you for a very compassionate and helpful staff at the Weaverville Mercy Urgent Care. Everyone was excellent at their job, had a friendly demeanor and kept me informed. Being a busy Urgent Care the wait time was great but it wasn’t a problem because the office staff helped with a virtual visit and communicated with me during delays. I have been very sick and appreciate the care I received today.

About Urgent Care

Urgent care is Asheville's best option for quality medical care when you need it, offering walk-in appointments during extended hours and on weekends. Solv even has clinic partners in the Asheville-area that offer online scheduling, allowing you to book a visit convenient to your schedule and skip the wait.

Walk-in clinics provide a convenient, fast alternative to emergency rooms—even primary care providers—treating minor injuries and illnesses including strep throat, infections, cold and flu symptoms, allergies, rashes, burns, bites, and more. Additionally, most offer preventative care including annual well exams, lab testing, and vaccinations.

When you’re in need of medical care for a non-life threatening condition, trust the urgent care providers nearby. And whenever possible, make it easier by scheduling and managing your visit with Solv.

Urgent Care Guide

In a recent survey conducted with the Urgent Care Association, Solv found that patients were waiting an average of 24 days for appointments with their primary care provider. In a world of instant gratification, consumers demand more. They demand now. If you want to watch a movie, you download it in minutes or stream it instantly. If you need groceries, you can pick up your phone and have them delivered to you within the hour. If you need restaurant reservations, you find one with availability, book online, walk in minutes later and sit right down. Healthcare shouldn’t be any different.

That’s why urgent care has been growing at a faster pace than any other healthcare service in the United States. And it is why healthcare consumers search for “urgent care” more than 5x more than “primary care” or “family doctor,” combined. These consumers are highly actionable, searching with high intent terms like “urgent care near me.” They want same day access to quality healthcare providers when they are sick or injured - after hours, one weekends and on holidays - without the cost and inconvenience of the emergency room.

Urgent care centers typically treat minor illnesses like the flu, sinus infections and strep throat, as well as injuries like bone fractures and sprains, cuts, scrapes and burns, making these clinics ideal for diagnosing and treating non-emergent healthcare needs. And at a growing rate urgent care clinics are offering preventative care services including annual physicals and well visits, flu shots and other immunizations and vaccines, taking on the role of primary care provider for the tens of millions of consumers that don’t have one.

For kids there are special pediatric urgent care centers, usually open after hours for patients between the ages of 1 and 18.

Urgent Care Services & Pricing

Urgent care centers, which are part of the walk-in clinic healthcare category, are a convenient resource for consumers needing treatment for minor illnesses and injuries. Services that you would normally receive at your primary care office are usually available at an urgent care including annual and school physicals, flu shots and immunizations, treatment for illnesses including colds, flu stomach pains, sinus and ear infections and more. You can also be seen for injuries such as burns, bites, sprains and breaks - things that you might first thing to go to the emergency room vs urgent care, but you’ll have a shorter wait and smaller bill at the urgent care. As for cost, without insurance, you should expect between $100-140 for your visit, plus the cost of any labs, tests or images. With insurance, urgent care will be similar to seeing a specialist with applicable co-pay.

Insurance & Payments

Nearly all urgent care centers take commercial insurance and many (if not most) will take medicare. As such if you have insurance coverage, you can expect the financial experience to be similar to visiting a specialist where you have a co-pay, usually $35-50, due at the time of the visit. Any additional lab work, x-rays or other tests performed will be billed against your insurance first and any supplemental balance due will be invoiced to you after the fact. Without insurance, you’ll pay a visit fee between $100-140 at the time of your visit. This is typically 25-50% more than your primary care provider, but usually the convenience is well worth the additional cost. If you are interested in a telehealth or video visit, your cost could be as much as 50% less than an urgent care, you could be diagnosed and prescribed medication and you’ll never have to leave your home.

Urgent Care Hours & Wait Times

Every urgent care center - even those part of the same group or brand - may have different hours. While they are meant to be conveniently accessible during times when your primary care provider is not, that’s subjective and highly variable. A traditional formula, however, is that an urgent care is open 6 to 7 days a week usually between the hours of 8 am to 8 pm. That could shift to nearly any 8-12 hour period between 7 am and 10 pm. You’ll even find some clinics open 24 hours a day, similar to an emergency room. As for wait time, most patients report waiting between 15-45 minutes on average, but that can certainly vary, as well. It’s usually best to find an urgent care near you to either confirm the hours online, or call the clinic directly to verify. Or, you can book a same day doctor appointment online with Solv.
