This is the second time in three days that I have been to this facility. A couple of days ago I had accidentally used Hibiclens to soak my contacts in and really burned my eyes. Ryan saw me immediately and flushed my eyes and gave me some drops to ease the pain. Then he made an appointment for me with an ophthalmologist and I was seen and treated within two hours. On top of all that he took the time after hours to call my phone to check in on me. Extraordinary care and concern! My wife made an appointment for herself this morning through Soly. We saw Ryan again. There was no waiting and again received excellent care. Many thanks to the whole staff and team.

Great discreet service, scheduled my visit and paid for for the test online not in Showed up at lab, checked in and was seen within minutes. Blood and urine were collected, test results came back quickly within 2 days because I did my test on a Friday. Quick, easy and cheap. Didn't have to wait for a visit to my PCP, and then get referral to lab.

Getting Tested for STDs in Elon, NC

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), especially those with multiple sexual partners. According to the CDC, certain groups are at a higher risk for STDs, including young people aged 15-24, men who have sex with men, and individuals with compromised immune systems. It's also important for pregnant women to get tested as STDs can have serious health implications for both the mother and baby.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is crucial for several reasons. First, many STDs do not show symptoms, meaning you could be infected and unknowingly pass the infection to others. Second, early detection of STDs can prevent serious health complications, such as infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased risk of HIV. Lastly, getting tested is a critical step in stopping the spread of STDs in the community.

STD testing options in Elon, NC:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care centers such as NextCare Urgent Care in Burlington, NC, and Novant Health- GoHealth Urgent Care in Greensboro, NC, offer STD testing services. These facilities often have shorter wait times compared to traditional healthcare providers and you can book same-day and next-day testing appointments through Solv’s website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Your primary care provider can also perform STD testing. If you don't have a primary care provider, Solv can help you find one in Elon or nearby cities like Gibsonville, Whitsett, Burlington, Alamance, and Graham.

Free STD testing and community health centers

Free STD testing may be available at community health centers in and around Elon. It's important to check with each center about their testing options, hours, and whether an appointment is needed.

At-home testing

At-home STD testing kits are another option for those who prefer privacy or cannot easily access a healthcare facility. These kits can be ordered online, used at home, and sent back to a lab for testing.

Prevalence of STDs in Elon

Elon, located in Alamance County, NC, has seen an increase in STD cases over the past few years, mirroring the national trend. Comparatively, Alamance County has a higher STD rate than nearby Raleigh, Rappahannock, Fayette, Madison, and Augusta counties. This could be due to a variety of factors, including lack of awareness about STDs, insufficient access to testing and treatment, and socioeconomic factors.

Risk factors related to STDs in Elon

Several risk factors contribute to the prevalence of STDs in Elon. These include unprotected sex, having multiple sexual partners, substance abuse, and lack of access to quality healthcare. Additionally, stigma around STD testing can also deter individuals from getting tested. It's crucial to address these risk factors and increase awareness about the importance of regular STD testing to curb the spread of these infections in the community.
