They said to wait until the doctor called (don’t understand why you need to talk to a doctor just to get a basic rapid test) to come down to the office and wait in your car to get swabbed. Being far from the location I was a half hour late for the appointment. Called once there and their phones wouldn’t connect so I went inside and then they had me fill out the exact same form by hand as I did online. Staff were friendly but too much bureaucracy — there was even a person you had to talk to on the phone like a nurse before the doctor called.

Almost everything was OK, until the office insisted that I must pay a ‘copy’ of $30, despite my attempts to explain that Covid-19 testing was supposed to be free of charge. The office people said that this was a ‘private practice’, and I must pay! I called my insurance from the parking lot, and after a three-way conversation, the $30 would be refunded to my credit card. I was wondering if this was an isolated incident or a routine ‘practice’ of billing uninformed patients. I needed the test to fly to run my long-planned London Marathon on Sunday 3 October 2021.
