I developed a painful, red lump on my knee over 48 hours. It was interfering with my work and personal life. With the Covid pandemic ongoing, getting into my PCP would be near impossible. I went to the Urgent Care and was treated. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Within 30 minutes I was examined, diagnosed and prescribed antibiotics for cellulitis on my knee. 24 hours later and I can already see (and feel) the difference! Thank you SOMC Urgent Care! Should have gone sooner!

Getting Tested for STDs in Ironton, OH

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for STDs, regardless of their age, gender, or sexual orientation. This is particularly important for those who have multiple sexual partners, engage in unprotected sex, or have a partner who has tested positive for an STD. Regular testing is also crucial for pregnant women, as some STDs can be passed from mother to child during childbirth, according to the CDC.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is a crucial aspect of maintaining overall health. Many STDs do not show symptoms, meaning a person can be infected and unknowingly transmit the disease to others. Early detection through testing can help prevent serious health complications such as infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased susceptibility to HIV. Moreover, it allows for timely treatment and reduces the risk of spreading the infection to others.
