Short Wait Time

My wife Has been suffering from a case of shingles. This was spotted by our son, who is a nephrologist doctor at OHSU in Portland Oregon, when we arrived for a visit. He referred us to another doctor there who prescribed a one-week antiviral course which she completed today. Because her case had improved but not completely resolved, we visited the Manzanita Adventist clinic this morning to see if she should renew the antiviral course, seek an alternative medication, or just get something to relieve the sharp headaches associated with the shingles. The visit was extremely pleasing from beginning to end. The staff hotel with her on arrival, were pleasant and efficient and there was not a long wait time before she could be seen by extremely competent medical personnel. The first, hall asked preliminary questions as physician assistance or similar personnel generally do before one sees a doctor, was an EMT and very good. After the preliminaries, my wife was seen by an outstanding, extremely knowledgeable and competent nurse practitioner named Lee, whom we thought must be all fall scale medical doctor because he was so good. He was very careful and thorough in examining my wife and asking questions about when the illness began, what had been the symptoms, and in checking for any possible other issues besides the shingles. He recommended against renewal of the antiviral because of potential side effects of longer term use and because her case was resolving satisfactorily. He prescribed a steroid to deal with the pain, saying that he thought it preferable to opiates. Everything about him was impressive. On hearing my wife’s report on the visit and Lee’s prescription decisions, our doctor/professor son fully concurred. Based on this visit, I would rate this medical facility A-1!!!

Anyone two weeks and older with plans to travel to or live in an area that's at high risk for typhoid, such as South Asia, Latin America and Africa, should receive a typhoid vaccine. If you are planning on traveling from Rockaway Beach out-of-country, a typhoid vaccine will be required for entry. You must be vaccinated by injection at least fourteen days before your departure date, or finish your oral vaccination regimen at least a week before your trip.

  • Are video visits available with travel vaccination specialists in Rockaway Beach?

While a typhoid vaccine cannot be administered over video, your doctor can evaluate and advise you or your child from your home in Rockaway Beach. They can discuss your travel plans, recommend and order necessary vaccinations, and book immunization appointments via telemedicine.

  • How much does a typhoid vaccine cost in Rockaway Beach?

Without insurance, a consultation, service fee and the typhoid vaccine doses will typically range from $85 to $300. With preventative insurance, you will end up paying the copay for a consultation and vaccine administration, ranging from $10 to $40. Costs will vary by clinic - book a consultation at a Rockaway Beach-area clinic to see how much a typhoid vaccine would cost for you.

  • Is a typhoid vaccine covered by my insurance?

As typhoid vaccines are considered elective, it’s not uncommon that insurance will not cover the cost of the vaccine. However, if your plan includes preventative benefits, the vaccine will usually be covered and you may only need to cover the co-pay out-of-pocket.

  • Are video visits with travel vaccination specialists covered by my insurance?

Telemedicine vaccine consultation coverage will vary depending on your circumstances. Typically, if your insurance will not cover an in-person visit, it won’t cover similar appointments via telehealth. Since the typhoid vaccine is considered elective and in-person visits are not usually covered by medical insurance, it is unlikely video visits with travel vaccination specialists will be covered.
