Access Total Care, Portland - 1700 Wildcat Dr, Portland
The visit was great except for the wait time. I scheduled an appt online and still had to wait for over an hour before I was seen. Not sure of the point of scheduling an appt ahead of time if I still have to wait for everyone in the waiting room to be seen first. I will say the doctors and staff were very friendly and helpful.

Rockport Chlamydia Testing

Who should get tested for chlamydia?

Chlamydia is a common sexually transmitted infection (STI) that can affect anyone who is sexually active. However, certain groups are at a higher risk and should consider regular testing. These include sexually active women under 25, men who have sex with men, and anyone with multiple sexual partners or a new partner. It's also crucial for pregnant women to get tested, as chlamydia can cause complications during pregnancy and can be passed to the baby during childbirth.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for chlamydia is vital because it often has no symptoms, leading many people to unknowingly spread the infection. If left untreated, chlamydia can cause serious health problems such as pelvic inflammatory disease in women and infertility in both men and women. Regular testing allows for early detection and treatment, preventing these complications.

Free STD testing and community health centers

Community health centers often provide free or low-cost STD testing. These centers are a great resource, particularly for those without insurance or those who cannot afford testing at other facilities.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits for chlamydia are also available. These kits can be ordered online and allow you to collect a sample at home and send it to a lab for testing. This is a convenient option for those who prefer privacy or cannot easily access a testing center.

The prevalence of chlamydia in Rockport, located in Aransas County, TX, varies over time and is influenced by several factors. According to the CDC, it's important to compare local data with nearby cities and counties, as well as state and national data, to get a complete picture.

Other STDs in Rockport

In addition to chlamydia, other STDs such as gonorrhea, HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis are also present in Rockport. It's important to get tested for these STDs as well, as they can often occur together. As with chlamydia, testing options for these STDs are available at local urgent care centers, primary care providers, community health centers, and through at-home testing kits.
