I booked an appointment early in the morning online and showed up to our apt time. Somehow I drove to the location but the staff were so friendly and worked us in. We only had to wait 30 before they called us back. The staff were all so friendly and the provider we saw was so nice and she took time to explain everything to us. I would definitely go back there if we can’t get into our PCP.

Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care, Westover - 8403 Texas 151 Access Rd, San Antonio
I went in Saturday for a morning appointment, later in the afternoon my son developed a fever a new symptom that he didn’t have that morning. I called the office to see if they could ask the provider to ask if now if he needs a prescription for some medicine since this could possibly change his diagnoses. I never received a call back Saturday. I called Sunday again and I was told the same thing someone would call me back. I never received a phone call back after numerous staff said someone would. I find this concerning when it comes to the care of children the lack of urgency and communication the staff exhibited.

Pleasanton Chlamydia Testing

Who should get tested for chlamydia?

Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) that can affect anyone who is sexually active. However, certain groups are at a higher risk and should consider regular testing. These include sexually active women under the age of 25, men who have sex with men, and individuals with multiple sexual partners or those who do not consistently use condoms. If you fall into any of these categories and reside in Pleasanton, TX, it is recommended to get tested for chlamydia.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for chlamydia is crucial as it often presents no symptoms, leading to it being undiagnosed and untreated. According to the CDC, untreated chlamydia can lead to severe health complications such as pelvic inflammatory disease in women, which can result in infertility. In men, it can cause a condition called nongonococcal urethritis. Regular testing allows for early detection and treatment, reducing the risk of these complications.

Free STD testing and community health centers

Community health centers often offer free or low-cost STD testing. While there may be income or residency requirements, these centers can be a valuable resource for those without insurance or those seeking confidential testing.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits provide a private and convenient option for chlamydia testing. These kits can be ordered online, used at home, and then sent back to a lab for analysis. Results are typically available within a few days.

Prevalence of chlamydia in Pleasanton

As part of Atascosa County, Pleasanton's chlamydia rates can be compared to those of nearby counties and the national average. According to the CDC, Atascosa County's chlamydia rates have been consistently higher than the national average, indicating a need for increased testing and awareness in the area.

Risk factors related to chlamydia in Pleasanton

Risk factors for chlamydia in Pleasanton mirror those at the national level. These include being sexually active, having multiple sexual partners, inconsistent condom use, and being under the age of 25. It's important to understand these risk factors and take preventative measures such as regular testing and safe sex practices.

Other STDs in Pleasanton

While chlamydia is a significant concern, other STDs such as gonorrhea, HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis also pose a risk to Pleasanton residents. Regular testing for all STDs is recommended for those at risk. As with chlamydia, testing options for these STDs are available at local urgent care centers, primary care providers, community health centers, and via at-home testing kits.
