Treatment & Services
Doctors who specialize in the treatment of allergies are known as allergists, and they can provide a
number of helpful services when you schedule an appointment with them. For example, you might schedule a
visit if you’re suffering from unexplained sneezing, stuffy nose, breathing problems, or itchiness that
you think may be related to an allergy. An allergist can perform an allergy test to find the cause of your
symptoms so you can avoid your triggers.
Specific types of allergy diagnostic testing include patch testing, skin testing to foods, antibiotics,
aeroallergen, and bee venom. If your allergist does determine you have an allergy, they can treat your
allergies to reduce your symptoms. Other health issues an allergist can sometimes treat include asthma,
eczema, sinusitis, and immunodeficiency disorders. In many cases, your doctor might refer you to an
allergist if they suspect an allergy is the cause of your health issues and can’t find anything else wrong.
