COVID-19 Vaccine FAQs

  • Where can I get COVID vaccine in Burbank?

The COVID vaccine is currently available to eligible individuals through health clinics, hospitals, health departments, pharmacies, and doctors’ offices including urgent care centers. COVID vaccine locations in Burbank—as well as the availability of appointments and doses at each location—are changing daily. Solv, through partnership with vaccingfinder.org and others, is actively maintaining the list of providers above and is refreshing at least daily, so check back frequently. Additionally, check directly with vaccine providers near Burbank as last minute availability for eligible populations sometimes opens up.

  • When will children be able to get the COVID vaccine in Burbank?

As of November 2, the Pfizer vaccine has received EUA from the FDA and approval from the CDC to vaccinate kids 5-11 years old. At this point, everyone 5+ years old in Burbank are eligible for the COVID vaccine. The CDC recommends everyone ages 5 and older get a COVID-19 vaccine to help protect against COVID-19. Vaccines for children under 5 years old are still awaiting results of clinical trials and approval from the FDA. Research shows these COVID vaccines are remarkably effective and safe. The American Academy of Pediatrics urges children and adults to get the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as they can. Once the FDA provides emergency use authorization (EUA) for the vaccines to be administered to children, it is likely that the same providers in Burbank that are currently administering the vaccine to adults will begin accepting appointments for kids.

  • What pharmacies are administering the COVID vaccine in Burbank?

Independent pharmacies, as well as regional and national chains, are administering the COVID vaccine across the country. Most are partnered with HHS directly to make the vaccine available as quickly as possible. Here are a few of the major pharmacy chains administering the vaccine with details on how to register for an appointment:

    • Albertsons will be making the COVID vaccine available at stores nationwide based on regional distribution and eligibility schedules. Appointments fill up fast and they will release appointments as they receive supply.
    • CVS stores nationwide are adding the COVID vaccine to their online schedule as it becomes available in each market, allowing people to schedule both their first and second doses (as applicable).
    • Costco pharmacies will be administering COVID-19 vaccines as soon as they are available, in accordance with CDC and state guidelines. Register on their website. Note: Please do not contact the local Costco pharmacy as they are unable to schedule an appointment or provide current eligibility requirements.
    • Kroger is partnering with federal and state agencies to deliver one million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine per week across their pharmacies, clinics, and off-site events. Their website will be regularly updated with information on local availability.
    • Rite Aid pharmacies are scheduling vaccine appointments in accordance with local and state eligibility requirements. Check the linked PDF for the latest details. Note: Please do not call your local Rite Aid pharmacy for a vaccine appointment.
    • Target expects to be able to start distributing the COVID vaccine their their partnership with CVS and their on-site pharmacy locations. Check the CVS pharmacy website for updates and dates when more vaccines will become available.
    • Walgreens will be providing COVID vaccines to consumers at all of its 9,000+ store locations. Check their website to see which locations presently offer the vaccine and their appointment availability.
    • Walmart is administering the vaccines based on state and federal eligibility guidelines and is scheduling appointments at thousands of their stores nationwide. Check their website often for availability as the vaccine continues rolling out to more stores.
  • How many COVID vaccine doses will I need?

The first two COVID vaccines developed by Pfizer and Moderna each require two (2) doses of the COVID vaccine. Each dose must be of the same product, and will need to be separated by either 21 days or 28 days, depending on the vaccine. That means if you received your first dose of the Pfizer vaccine, your second dose must also be the Pfizer vaccine. The Johnson and Johnson vaccine, approved for use in the US on February 27, 2021, only requires one dose. Consult your healthcare professional if you have additional questions.

  • How long will the COVID vaccine last?

In most cases, COVID-19 testing and antibody testing is available at no out of pocket cost if you are covered by commercial insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid. You will likely have to pay a normal office visit copay, however. For cash paying patients, the two largest labs have reported that the Medicare rates (likely the lowest cost) to process an antibody test is around $50 and $100-$200 for a PCR swab test. It is important to understand that many healthcare providers are requiring screenings prior to testing, which may or may not be covered by your insurance, and may or may not require additional copays.

  • Can you contract COVID if you are vaccinated?

After immunization, the body normally takes a few weeks to develop immunity (protection against the virus that causes COVID-19). That means a person could become infected with the virus that causes COVID-19 before or after vaccination and still become unwell. This is due to the vaccine's inability to provide protection due to a lack of time.

  • Are COVID-19 vaccines safe?

Vaccines against COVID-19 are both safe and effective. Millions of people in the United States have received COVID-19 vaccines, which have been subjected to the most stringent safety testing in the country's history. You should acquire a COVID-19 vaccine as soon as you are eligible, according to the CDC.

  • Can you spread COVID if you are vaccinated?

While the ability to transmit COVID-19 is possible after you have been fully vaccinated, experts believe it will happen at a slower rate given the efficacy of the vaccine. It's most like only relevant for people who don't have a good immunological response to immunizations in general.

  • Do I need a COVID booster shot?

According to the CDC, as of October 21, 2021, individuals who received a Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, the following groups are eligible for a booster shot at 6 months or more after their initial series: (1) 65 years and older, (2) Age 18+ who live in long-term care settings, (3) Age 18+ who have underlying medical conditions, and (4) Age 18+ who work or live in high-risk settings. For the nearly 15 million people who got the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, booster shots are also recommended for those who are 18 and older and who were vaccinated two or more months ago.

Recent COVID-19 Vaccine Reviews (20)

Truly impressed, actually overwhelmed, by the kind, considerate, patient, efficient, and organized as well as professional staff at every point in the multi-step process of receiving the Pfizer COVID vaccine! The nursing staff that gave me my vaccine (RN Jeglum & team at her vaccination station) and the supervising nurses overseeing the end process where vaccine recipients were being watched for symptoms were particularly personable, approachable, attentive, and knowledgeable as well as professional, i.e., RN Katrina and ARNP Tiffany.

When I bought in my grandparents for the covid vaccine, one of the staff members helped us into the waiting room. Check in and check out was easy. Social distancing was well maintained inside the clinic. A translator assisted my grandparents while I waited outside in the car. Although they I wasn't present, my grandparents told me that the staff was really kind and professional. They felt well taken care of. I'm thankful for this clinic and their staff for taking excellent care of my grandparents!

I just finished getting my first covid vaccine through the drive up. I had a great experience. I don’t do well with needles, and the gentleman giving the vaccine was AMAZING. I literally didn’t feel a thing. Given my needle phobia I was a little flustered, and can’t remember his name, but his initials were V. A. I believe. What a great drive through operation they have set up. The gal scheduling me for my second dose was also very nice.

I was so impressed with your staff and facility. Every one of your staff was very professional and kind. Your system is ready to serve the public from the outside the building with the signs & directions to the entrance. After you get in ti the building the each one of the public members was treated just like your own patient. Especially, after the COVID vaccine each public patient was guided to a very clean room with comfortable chair/recliner(?) and your staff goes to each patient explaining how to take care of yourself in case you feel discomfort. What a comparison to the public news on the TV. I talk to my friends about the experience at Futch. Thank you so much for your outstanding service! Seungja Song

This was my first visit to SVH. I received my Pfiser booster shot at the SVH drive-thru annex. Made my reservation & completed all paperword online the night before. I arrived at SVH 15 min before my appointment. I was first car in line. Within a couple of minutes, I was motioned forward. I was 'shot' and on my way to recovery 10 minutes later. The whole process was easy and quick, and personal were helpful and personable. A pleasent experience.

Fast, credible (due to UW affiliation) & friendly. Ideally I'll receive my tests results the same today too, because they are so consequential. My son just tested positive & was with our family for Thanksgiving week so we're all on pins & needles now waiting for test results from each family member. We're all fully vaxxed, most have boosters and we all feel fine, so I think we'll be okay. Still, the only change I would request is receiving same day results but I know that's probably not realistic & I'm definitely not complaining. We're verrrry lucky to live in the same city as UW main campus & medical center for a multitude of reasons. (heart emoji!) Oh yes, thanks for being on super groovy Ballard Avenue too! It's much more fun than the emissions testing place on Aurora, but we're grateful for all testing places in Seattle! With Love, Pam PPS. I don't know what it cost. I thought these tests are supposed to be free? I did give my insurance card but haven't seen my medical statement yet. If I am charged, I hope it's very low cost.

The offer and scheduling of COVID vaccine for 12-15 yr olds was bumpy on Monday and we, and several hundred others, were able to schedule appts on Tue. before the CDC authorized - a glitch that was corrected later in the day on Tuesday when we got email offering a rescheduling, which led to today’s vaccination. So a little bump, a big but temporary disappointment, followed by an outstanding experience. THANK YOU! The workflow at Hutch this morning when we got the vaccination was the most well-oiled human machine I have ever seen!

In Seattle Cancer Care Alliance oncology & hemotology, my care team always gets five out of five stars, especially Dr Moore, Raylene, and Angie. I really want to draw attention to the cheerful and efficient scheduling and intake staff I get regularly: Sam, Francesca, and Roke. Francesca is always a breath of fresh air! So cheerful and engaged! I just adore her for brightening up what could be a gloomy occasion. I appreciate that so much! I also got a covid vaccine here today. Everyone involved was cheerful and efficient. All went well. What makes me want to draw attention to these staff is because I see that it makes a diffence to all the patients passing Thank you Seattle Cancer Care Alliance for providing top notch staff with the best attitudes.

Drive-up covid vaccination booster shot with appointment went super smooth. Very easy to make, punctual, easy to follow instructions, all forms and such done via text beforehand. Check-in was simple, received prompts via text the day of and just prior to appointment which made everything pretty much foolproof and simple. Fast, clear, friendly, easy, and professional. I would truly rate the experience as a solid five stars across the board, never had to leave car and am just finishing up a precautionary 15 minute observation period in the upper parking lot while my co-pilot and I decide what we want to do for lunch. Thanks Sno valley.

No one wants to have to get a COVID test, but coming to your facility has been fantastic. Your people are great, they’re knowledgeable, you have a GREAT set-up for managing testing. And equally important your results are reliable and timely. There people are great. Combined, this all makes it so easy and seamless. I can’t tell you how much we, as a family, have appreciated coming to this facility when we have to get tested. And I recommend it to others! Your team could contribute a lot toward improving COVID vaccination and booster shots! That system is broken and I wish it worked as smoothly as yours.

As with the first vaccine dose today’s experience was just as awesome. Totally impressed with; • Upbeat happiness of volunteers • Organized like a “well oiled machine”!! • Extreme personableness of each individual I came in 6’ contact with-complete joy to be with these fine people! • There was an abundance of people to lead me every step of the way. Each of these people acted like caring family members. Kudos to all of you involved with the organization of the Covid vaccine events accommodating numerous volumes of people who may have had anxiety contemplating receiving their vaccine; thankfully, I held positive feelings throughout; but because of the wonderful caring personnel volunteering, hope everyone departed feeling great! What a memorable day I have had! My appreciation is all yours!

Amazingly great experience. I had heard lots of horror stories about other vaccination providers about delays, cancellations, poor service, etc. None of that happened at the Swedish vaccination site. Just the opposite! I’m not a regular patient of theirs, so I didn’t know what to expect. It was difficult getting an appointment for my first dose of the Covid vaccine with any facility. I’m classified as 1B-Tier 1. Like everyone else, I had been trying to get an appointment for weeks. But once I got the appointment with Swedish it all went very quickly and efficiently. Here’s my experience: Swedish got a new vaccine shipment on Tuesday 2/2/21. I heard about it late that afternoon and was able to get on-line and schedule my first dose for Thursday evening at the Swedish vaccination site on the Seattle University campus. By the time I got my vaccination scheduled Tuesday night, all other time slots had been taken, so you have to act quickly. On Thursday I arrived about an hour early before my scheduled appointment. Volunteers were posted from the garage to the vaccination site to make sure no one got lost. Everyone was well distanced and masked. At the check-in desk I had to produce my proof of eligibility and photo ID. Though I was 30 minutes early they put me in line immediately (again masked and distanced) - there was no wait. Within 20 minutes after I parked in the garage I was already vaccinated with dose 1, and was scheduled for for my second dose. Everyone - the volunteers, doctors, nurses, and schedulers - were friendly, efficient, and focused on giving terrific service to those being vaccinated. It was a truly wonderful experience.

There was a mix up with my Covid vaccine. I signed up for moderna 4/7 12:42. I parked on the moderna side of arena. I went to check in for first dose. I was early. Shortly after as I was in line for shot got a text my appointment was cancelled. Went back and double checked they said I had two appointments. No sure but continued on. Ended up with Pfizer. When I went to check out they said another name came up. I couldn’t understand what they were saying due to accent and mask. Thought I was Jennifer Wilson. They had to make a new entry in system in order schedule my 2nd dose. Have no idea what information made it look like I was another person.

Receiving my COVID vaccine was an easy, painless and quick process! I was prepared to wait in long lines, but I was in and out including post vaccine wait and making a 2nd appt all within 25 minutes! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Everything was well organized! I was impressed and feel fortunate to have had this experience rather than those I see on the news! Thank u to all the volunteers and Seattle public health for doing such a great job!

I got a first Covid vaccine dose appointment online I had a question about when a second dose appointment would be made, so I made a phone call and had a pleasant experience with the person who answered the phone. then when I went and got my first shot there was virtually no waiting, I just pulled in to the short line, I followed the signs, pulled into the area, had a few people taking care of the tasks of identification and getting the vaccine ready. I got my shot and followed the signs around to the 15 minute waiting area. It is all very efficient and effective. I would recommend it to anyone.

I was there today for my second covid vaccine. The line was very long. The first time i came was a 5☆ visit. Today's visit was completely different. Unorganized, very long line. Most of the patients had not filled out their questionnaires on line. The ones who did should have been able to get in. But we had to wait in a long line. Once i got inside it was great, because i had pre- checked in and signed my disclosure.

I am thankful for the opportunity to receive my 2nd Covid vaccine. The health care workers there were hospitable and kind. I felt confident that I would be well taken care of, and I did. I was impressed with the professionalism, cleanliness, and great care that I received for my second vaccination. I appreciate the great works at each and every one of those wonderful health care workers good. I recommend that everyone who gave up there Saturday with their families, so myself and others could receive the vaccine, should be acknowledged for their services.

I did the drive-through for a booster shot. I had an appointment at 11, but didn’t actually get seen until 12:10. There wasn’t enough signage or space for the car line, so there were a lot of angry honks from other people driving on the same road. But I was delighted with how smoothly it went when I got to the line; great staff, easy paperwork, and I’m just so grateful for the booster shot. Thank you!

Wow! So efficient, so smooth, so uneventful and yet delightful. Everyone working at the event was friendly and courteous and knowledgeable. Knowing that many employees were answering the same questions, asking the same questions, and providing the same info all day long, I was really impressed with the fact that each interaction with staff felt personable. Good job hiring quality people, Pierce County! For something as simultaneously dull (getting a shot) yet momentous (first COVID Vaccine!), and for lack of better words, I must say “I had a really nice time!” 10/10 stars.

About COVID Vaccine

There are currently 3 COVID vaccine available in Orlando and throughout the country: Pfizer-BioNTech (mRNA), Moderna (mRNA Vaccines), and Johnson & Johnson (Vector vaccine). As of April 7, 2021, three vaccines, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson and Moderna, have been approved for use via an emergency use authorization (EAU) for adults ages 16 and older. Pfizer has since received EUA for 5-11 year olds, opening the door for everyone in the country 5 years and older to receiving a COVID vaccine.

Getting a COVID vaccine will be similar to the process of getting any other type of vaccine. Patients should talk to their doctors about whether they have allergies and if they have ever experienced a reaction or specific side effects from a vaccine in the past. They should also inform their doctors whether they are currently ill, pregnant, or planning to become pregnant.

The injection itself usually only takes a few seconds and may feel like a slight pinch on the skin. Most people do not experience serious side effects from vaccines, and any side effects they do experience are usually mild. Chills, low-grade fever, headache, tiredness, and muscle and joint aches are the most common side effects of vaccines.

People who get a mRNA COVID vaccine will need another booster shot roughly 3-4 weeks after the first shot to stay protected from COVID-19, while the Johnson & Johnson vaccine only requires one shot. It is not yet known how long immunity to COVID-19 will last after receiving a COVID vaccine.

Key facts about COVID-19 vaccines

Studies have shown that COVID-19 vaccines are safe to get and highly effective at preventing you from getting COVID-19. Even if you do get COVID-19, the vaccine prevents you from getting seriously ill. The more people that get vaccinated, the faster we can get back to normal life.

  • They’re safe. Rigorous clinical trials must show that vaccines are safe and effective before they’re authorized for public use. Millions of people have received COVID-19 vaccines, which have undergone the most intensive safety monitoring in US history.
  • They’re effective. All approved vaccines are proven to be highly effective at preventing COVID-19. Based on what we know so far, experts believe that all the approved vaccines will nearly 100% prevent serious illness and death. They may also help protect family, friends, and those around you.
  • They’re free. COVID-19 vaccines will be free for all Americans under the CARES act. The US government has already ordered and paid for hundreds of millions of COVID-19 vaccine doses using US tax dollars to ensure that everyone who wants one can get one.

Top vaccine myths

When deciding to get vaccinated, it’s important to separate fact from fiction.

  • The vaccines will not make you sick with COVID-19.
  • The vaccines do not have a microchip that will track you.
  • The mRNA COVID vaccines (Moderna and Pfizer) will not alter your DNA.
  • If you already had COVID-19, that does not mean you don’t need the vaccine.

Risks of the COVID vaccine

All vaccines come with potential risks and side effects. The most common side effects associated with vaccines are low-grade fever, malaise, and redness and pain at the injection site. More than 50% of people who received early COVID-19 vaccines reported experiencing mild short-term side effects including fever, headache, muscle aches, and reactions at the injection site.
