I will try to keep this as short as possible. I have seen more than one doctor in the Lake Health Women's Health Specialists group. I was seeing them for extremely painful periods. I was told that this is "normal" by more than one doctor. I was told that the only two "solutions" I had were taking Birth control, or taking a medication that would put my body into menopause at AGE 15. I told them I did not want to go on the pill, because the pill is not a solution, it is a band-aid. + Yet each time I left the office, I left with a prescription for the Birth Control pill. To make matters worse, I was told that there are NO negative side effects of the pill, and that it would "fix" my period problems. That is not informed consent, that is medical malpractice. I was NEVER asked about my nutrition, lifestyle, family history, digestion, symptoms of estrogen dominance, etc. These doctors didn't even try to address WHY I was having this pain, they just wanted to prescribe me a pill like a one trick pony. The word "Doctor" means, "to teach", not to prescribe drugs that have been proven to permanently suppress libido, cause extreme estrogen sufficiency which leads to a slew of problems INCLUDING painful periods and even cancer, increases risk of blood clots, depression, suicide, anemia, strokes, heart attacks, hair loss, and more. I wasn't told that birth control literally alters your partner preference, I wasn't told that spontaneous rupture of the liver with evidence of hemoperitoneum is associated with taking the pill. I wasn't told that the gut gets absolutely wrecked while on the pill, opening up the door for autoimmune diseases. I wasn't told that the uterine lining thin permanently while taking the pill, making it harder for the egg to implant when trying to conceive. I wasn't told that it can take up to 18 months for fertility to return after coming off the pill. I was just told that its the only solution to my normal period pain, and there are really no negatives to taking the pill. So, are your doctors actually doctors? Or, are they one trick pony pill pushers practicing medicine in a horribly irresponsible way?
