Everything was good except for one thing... She did the quick results in front of me and I was very surprised and unprepared for one of the results to be a non-negative. It turned out to be because of a prescription that I'm on. It was very unsettling. They should ask about prescriptions and/or provide a list of medications that will affect the results. We have enough anxiety in society already.

Overview of STD Testing in Sherwood

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active, regardless of age, gender, or sexual orientation, should consider getting tested for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). This is particularly important for those with multiple sexual partners, those who don't consistently use protection during sex, and those who have had an STD in the past. According to the CDC, certain groups, such as sexually active women under 25, men who have sex with men, and individuals with HIV, should get tested more frequently.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is crucial for several reasons. Firstly, many STDs do not show symptoms, meaning you could be infected and not know it. Untreated STDs can lead to serious health complications, including infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased susceptibility to HIV. Secondly, knowing your STD status can help protect your sexual partners from getting infected. Lastly, early detection often makes treatment more effective.
