Fortunately, I don't believe I have had any negative encounters when it comes to medical providers but this was just plain ridiculous. I had a dog bite that got infected and needed to have it drained. No other patients seemed to be there and I was taken back quickly. With one quick look the PA told me she thought it would be best for me to go to the hospital to have it checked. I was in and out in 10 minutes. Quite frankly, the last place I wanted to go was to an ER with how inundated they were with COVID patients back in January. I get to the ER and the NURSE PRACTIONER who drained my finger said "clearly you went to someone who just didn't want to drain it and was feeling lazy". I was in and out of the ER in 30 mins. Thankfully, that is the quickest ER trip I have had in my life and 20 of those was me waiting. $2,000.00 later from my bill with the ER, who actually did the procedure and I get a bill from MEDPOST asking me on top of the $200 my insurance paid out to them already to pay my $75 copay. The 1-866 number mentions it is only the manager at the facility I went to that can waive the fee. I call this location and am told they cant waive it because my vitals were taken? Now anytime I go to a health care facility I'll just think of them taking my vitals as a way to make sure they can bill. It's just plain greedy and bad business practice. It is obviously the first and only time I would go to this facility. Ill pay the $250 copay over and over again at an emergency room and have services rendered VS straight theft.
