The tech or nurse that took the throat culture took the sample in a very rushed and quick manner and I question whether the result is accurate. The last time I took my other child there I had the same person and the result was negative but when I went to another Dr it was positive less than 24 hours later. I know results can change but I wish that person would be more thorough and take their time.

My son’s temperature was taken and read 98.4. Before we left the house we took it and it was 99.9. When we came home I took it immediately and it was 99.8. I find it impossible that it fluctuated only during the 30 or so minutes that we were at urgent care. Further, my son’s symptoms have increased over a period of six days, including a fever of nearly 101 at times, yet he was diagnosed essentially with allergic rhinitis. When I pushed back in this a bit, I was told by the practitioner that we should wait another full week of these symptoms before an antibiotic would be considered. I still believe he has a sinus infection based on how congested he is and how long it has been, and, unless his symptoms are dramatically improved, I have to take him to his pediatrician tomorrow to have him assessed again. I was not thrilled with the level of care; provider did not prompt him to cough when listening to lungs, palpate sinuses, etc., and the $75 copay I have to pay for urgent care services was a steep cost for the assessment and consideration of his symptoms that we experienced.
