Illogical protocol. I forgot to get a note clearing my child to return to school after our urgent care visit. Two days later and after some back and forth with the after-care department, I was told that they cannot honor an 'over the phone' request for such a letter. Although the doctor found NOTHING to be wrong with my child during the urgent care visit, it's against policy to retroactively give us a note indicating such. Instead, I was told to bring my child in for another visit to get the note. What is the point? The message I'm receiving here is that the doctor didn't do a thorough enough exam for the clinic to be able to grant us a note that clears my son to return to school, essentially rendering the visit a waste of time because now we've got to schedule a visit with his primary care provider anyway (and not just to get the note but especially to make sure that indeed nothing is medically wrong with my child). And as a side note, in relaying this experience to others in the past few hours, I've been met with accounts from other parents about issues that they have had at this City MD location, including misdiagnoses and a failure to acknowledge parent concerns. Save yourself the headache (and most importantly, the potential medical consequences) and just visit another urgent care instead.

Long wait time, went to do a procedure, no one was there to do it, had to return the next day and wait another 3 hours in line to have same done, asked for an appointment considering i was waiting 3 hrs the day bdfore, ut was refused. Also that day they opened the back door to take someone out of the line to be treated ahead of others.

I have used City MD several times and have always had a great experience. Because of this, when a family member informed me he had been very ill on new year's day, I recommended they visit this location. Unfortunately, he did not have the same experience I have in the past. The provider available performed a less than adequate assessment and did not perform a flu test, yet sent him home with an influenza diagnosis. This is particularly troubling because the (adult) patient had a fever of 104 for 9 days with no other complaints. NINE days of very high fever and he was not swabbed for the flu or provided any patient education, yet diagnosed with the flu and sent home to wait the symptoms out. Bothered by this, I and his wife urged him to go to the ER or to at least see his PCP the next day. Thankfully, he did because he was admitted through the ER and has been diagnosed with something much more serious than the flu. I understand the an urgent care is not a replacement for primary care and is limited in its resources. But as a registered nurse myself, I also understand the importance of simply performing a thorough assessment, properly educating and most of all advocating for your patient's health. It seems that none of this basic care was done and had he not been urged by others for further assessment, this could have resulted in an even worse outcome.
