We had a good visit. My son was there for a sports physical. They received a large influx of patients for physicals, but they were very professional and efficient.

Was told the night before that of my son needed a sports physical...I went on the website to scheduled an appointment. I showed up the next day to the appointment and to a staff that was welcoming and the provider was outstanding!!

I have always had a great experience at AFC Urgent Care. Wait time is very short and everyone is super nice and helpful.

One person in the lobby before us, finally got in a room and it took an hour total to be seen by a nurse physician just for her to be in the room maybe 4 minutes. Not sure why it took so long to be seen, but would not go back here for a sports physical considering they charge $80 which is highway robbery.

Got a 815 am appt at 230 am awesome. Need more to write so awesome again

Everything was great with the visit except them calling the prescription in to the wrong pharmacy even after I wrote the correct pharmacy on the paper when you check in and the doctor asked me which pharmacy. It was a big hassle getting it straight, having to make several phone calls and a long wait time with a 5yr old child.

The process was okay. It could had been better. I did know i was coming to a urgent care. I need assistance of why my headache and nausea was so bad and I could not wait unil Oct to see my regular doctor primary care. I think the sevice could had been a little better then what I saw.

My visit to AFC was frustrating from the moment I checked in. At reception, no one even looked at my insurance information before automatically putting down that I had Medicaid. I actually have private insurance through my employer. That assumption immediately rubbed me the wrong way because, as an African American man, it felt both classist and racially biased. There was no reason to assume what type of insurance I had when they could have simply asked or looked at the information I provided. I came in because I was experiencing back pain after a car accident. I have never had ongoing back problems, have never been prescribed pain medication for back pain, and do not have a history of repeatedly seeking treatment for pain. As someone who works in the healthcare field myself, I understand that providers have access to medication histories and other information that can help them determine whether someone has a pattern of seeking controlled substances. Yet Black patients are still too often treated as if we’re exaggerating pain, complaining, or looking for drugs before we’ve even done anything to warrant that suspicion. The irony is that Black patients have historically had the opposite problem—our pain being underestimated and undertreated. After my X-rays, the NP explained the findings but seemed unusually determined to suggest that the problem had to be from some previous injury rather than the accident I had just been in. I was asked whether I played sports when I was younger. I never played sports. I was then asked what I do for work, but I work in outreach for a nonprofit, which is not physically demanding. It felt like we were searching for any possible explanation for my back problem other than the car accident that immediately preceded pain I had never experienced before. I was still going to work, but I was told I would receive a three-day work note in case I needed time to rest and allow the inflammation to go down. I never received it. When I called afterward and asked for the note to be emailed to me, I was told they could only fax it. In 2026, who has a home fax machine? It seems unnecessarily outdated and inconvenient when a document can be securely emailed or made available electronically. I understand that urgent care clinics are busy and that providers have to be cautious when evaluating pain. My issue is not that I expected a particular medication or diagnosis. I expected to be evaluated as an individual patient based on my symptoms, medical history, imaging, and the fact that I had just been in a motor vehicle accident—not assumptions about my insurance, socioeconomic status, race, or motives for seeking treatment. Overall, the experience left me feeling stereotyped rather than listened to and cared for. AFC should seriously consider additional training around implicit bias, particularly regarding Black patients, pain complaints, and assumptions about socioeconomic status. They also need to modernize how basic documents like work notes are provided to patients.
