AFC Urgent Care, Torrance

I scheduled a sports physical for my high schooler several days before the appointment. I liked that everything was easy to do online, from paperwork to checking in. We arrived and checked in a minute early. And then proceeded to wait in the waiting room for over 2 HOURS. Including while people after us were called in.  Once in the room, the MA was kind, apologetic, and helpful getting the pre-doctor stuff out of the way. Once the doctor came in she seemed confused about why we need a sports physical for esports and then went on a tangent about how she doesn’t let her kids play video games. (I don’t make the district rules about who needs a physical, and good for you for that I guess???).  She also questioned some acne bumps on my teen asking what it was (like hello? She’s 14. She has acne and that’s not what this is about). And was overall dismissive and confusing. Often needing to repeat her requests because she was not clear. (Ex: ok now touch your toes. No keep touching them until I say to stop).  Overall a very disappointing experience that I would’ve walked out of if we didn’t need the visit in order to participate in extracurriculars for school.

Came in as urgent care patient because this UC was in network for my insurance.  I didn’t realize that this is both a primary care office and an urgent care.  This is a classic example of a financial decision made at corporate level is a bad idea in practice.  The theory is that having an UC in same office as primary care practice is efficient.  However, it tends to be efficient at the cost of both routine primary care patients as well as UC patients.  And it never works well in a one physician office such as this office.  In my case I hurt my foot and would be leaving town for a long trip so needed to make sure I was ok to travel(urgent care).  It took me over 2 hours to get the care I went in for.  This was due to the physician having a full schedule of regular patients.  Since my case was not urgent, I was left to wait until the doctor had a gap in her regular scheduled patients.  While I understand this desire to keep a very expensive commodity  (a doctor) busy, in a one doctor office it comes at a cost of patient satisfaction and physician job satisfaction.   I will in the future go to an out of network UC vs this one.

My husband had to have a dressing put on his hand. It fell off in the car. We drove to ER to have it done properly.

Woke up with swollen face due to infection in my mouth, needing antibiotics and easily made appointment online at 6:45 am for 8:10 am. Arrived at  8:05 am, one person in waiting room. Couple came in several minutes after me and they waited barely 10 minutes and seen before me. Waited an additional 20 minutes and was taken for vitals. Not seen again for 45 minutes, the lights went out twice in the exam room while I waited. I have no idea and cannot understand why I had to wait so long when there was barely any patients. Clearly I was in pain but that wasn’t taken into consideration. By the way, there was no one in the waiting area when I was finally done at 9:50 am and the girls in the office were hanging Halloween decorations.

Great staff. We called in and made an appt for Saturday at 11:00 am and they got us right in to see our mom. I recommend this urgent care facility! They took good care of her!  Thank you!

The Wait was Ridiculous the doctor was not good. Service was terrible. Dr. tell you anything just to get Medi-Cal money. Very sad situation . I don’t even think the doctor knew what she was. The one couldn’t help me at all. Just sent me off to the next person sad that should close that place down. I need an x-rays and never offered them, but said they do X-ray online. The office was a waste of my time

Was feeling really sick and was able to make an appointment for the next day . Got excellent care in a timely manner. The doctor was great and the staff too.

Very bad experience would never go back again starts from the staff to the Persian doctor. Wait three hours for nothing and.

Made an appointment early in the day to get ear wax removed. Waited over an hour and still was not seen. Had to leave without ever being seen. Poor scheduling.

I came in with severe back pain, from an accident, close to the last walk-in deadline & they still made time to do x-rays & consult with me. They were very kind & friendly & listened intently & explained everything to me in a clear, friendly, professional manner . I recommend using their services.
