WARNING! DO NOT GO HERE, HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE I was recently prescribed a medication by my primary physician, Katherine Leary. A follow up appointment was scheduled 3 months later to check in on how the new meds were going in order to be allowed refills. I was expecting to see Katherine Leary in this appointment, but was seen by Janelle Romero instead with no explanation why. In this appointment, I let Janelle know that everything was working well and that I didn’t need any changes to the medication and she let me know that she would update my prescription to allow refills. Later that week, I received my refill and took a dose from the new bottle. About 30 min later, I started feeling extremely dizzy and disoriented. Very confused and worried, I checked the new prescription and saw that IT WAS THE WRONG MEDICATION. I immediately called the clinic and explained the situation and asked if I could speak with a provider. The receptionist told me a provider would call me back as soon as they could. Despite explaining that I was experiencing worrisome side effects, they did not ask me to come in to check my vitals or offer to provide any kind of support. I waited four hours, and still did not receive a call, so I called back and demanded to speak with a provider but was transferred to the office manager, Sean, who attempted to minimize the severity of the situation and avoided taking accountability. Eventually, Sean talked with a provider and confirmed that Janelle Romero made a mistake when submitting my prescription and did indeed prescribe the wrong medication. Sean never apologized, and continued to try and minimize the situation, making claims that there was no need to worry about how this medication interacts with my current one. However, I contacted my pharmacist and they confirmed that I was at risk of Serotonin Syndrome. Not only was this an extremely traumatizing and scary experience, it was made worse by how the clinic handled it. I would argue this situation is an example of malpractice and I would warn anyone considering going to this clinic to stay far away.
