I wish I could give this place zero stars. Yesterday (6/1/2022), I came to this location after being recommended by my mom. I had a vaginoplasty last week to correct unbearable pain with so much as inserting a tampon. The surgical site was beginning to get infected so I came in seeking antibiotics. I got there around 5:45 pm. The waiting room and entire facility was slow, quiet, and devoid of anyone other than the staff: one woman at the front desk and three women in the back (presumably medical techs or nurses). I filled out the entry form and noted “vaginoplasty infection” as the chief complaint. The woman at the front told me she’d forwarded the paperwork to the back and that I’d hear from them soon. Within seconds the staff in the back could be seen through the doorway showing each other my paperwork and laughing hysterically, exclaiming how funny the complaint is and asking “is this real life?” I turn to my partner and the woman at the front desk and ask if I’m being laughed at. Only my partner responds, saying he also wondered if that was going on. One of the women from the back comes out within a minute, still hysterical, and calls my name. My partner tries to come back with me and she laughs at him, telling him this is just about me and “my stuff”. Passing by the other two women in the back, they’re completely silent and looking down as to not make eye contact with me. She takes me into the examination room and, still giggling, asks about “the sex”. It’s clear no one knows what this procedure is and they think it’s a sex-related injury which they find funny. I explain the procedure to her and tell her about the pain and ulceration and that I just need someone to prescribe antibiotics. She leaves and as I’m waiting for the PA on site to come speak to me, I can still hear the three women giggling and discussing my case despite the door being closed. My surgeon happens to call me and offers to prescribe further antibiotics before the PA comes in, so I go to the woman at the front desk and tell her I’d like a refund and that I’m appalled at the staff in the back directly referring to my paperwork for reasons other than my treatment and laughing in my face. She immediately prints a refund and simply says “sorry” with no attempt at further explanation. I have worked in numerous medical settings, from primary care to surgical to lab scenarios. I am a Pathologist’s’ Assistant and frequently see cases and foreign bodies everywhere on the spectrum so it is all routine to me. I have never in my life seen medical professionals laugh, and certainly not in the face of the patient. I left this facility sobbing and humiliated in addition to my already excruciating pain.
