It is NOT first come first serve. After being the 3rd car in the parking lot 15 min before they opened, and called the phone number for 2 1/2 hours straight and never got through. They SHOULD say they will only see you if you are lucky enough to get through. They need a better method of registering patients.

I will never take my daughter to a Medexpress again. I'm not one to write negative reviews, however, we had a very stressful experience at the Mt. Lebanon location. I took my daughter on a Saturday November 30th around 5pm in the evening. Her primary Dr. office was closed so this was our only option. We went because was complaining of an ear ache and was coughing and had a fever for 2-3 days. The nurse practitioner who saw us, barely checked her ears, stating that her left ear was packed with wax and she just "couldn't see anything." To which I asked if she could clean the ear to see if it was in fact infected, she stated that "it looks clear and fine where I can see." She then listened to her lungs and stated that "they sound just horrible" and that she wanted her to get an immediate xray as she was "extremely concerned." I was very uncomfortable with her complete disregard with what we were also concerned with, she was also very short with us and insistent that we follow exactly what she recommended without consulting us at all. We got the xray but I was concerned about the lack of appropriately sized thyroid cover for my 3 year old daughter. The nurse practitioner stated that "there is no evidence that a thyroid cover was even necessary when giving an xray." Again disregarding my thoughts completely. I did request that my daughter have an adult cover that we folded so as to protect her thyroid. The nurse practitioner was very abrasive about this and questioned my choice as a parent. She then reviewed my daughter's xray with an off sight radiologist and came back to say that she could "barely see anything because of the cover" and that from what they "could" see, it was an emergency situation and that she should be taken right away to children's where she would more than likely have to "stay overnight" and that it was probably "pneumonia". We were shocked at how she was speaking to us, it felt very inappropriate and really frightened me and my husband and my mother who was there with us. Of course I planned to take my daughter anyway because I knew that she needed more care but the nurse practitioner should have spoken to us in a more professional, appropriate and calm way to make us feel comfortable and that we were being understood and respected as our child's parents. We did take my daughter to children's where the Dr. at children's concluded that it was NOT an emergency. She was not "critical" as the nurse practitioner at Medexpress had insisted. She had some wheezing and received one breathing treatment. What most concerned me was that the Dr. at Children's also concluded that the ear that the nurse practitioner said was "just packed with wax" but looked "clear and fine" was not in fact "fine." The Dr. at children's cleared the wax and found that my daughter's ear drum was perforated and very infected. This enraged me, as I told the nurse practitioner at medexpress that I was concerned about that ear but she had brushed me off. In the end, I am glad we took my daughter to children's, but our experience at Medexpress was so unnecessarily stressful and upsetting for now reason. I hope no other parent is made to feel so ignored and frightened by a Dr. there. Again, we will never, ever be going to a Medexpress again after this experience.
