m not sure where to start. Very disappointed with northshore dental in portage. My boyfriends daughter started complaining about a toothache. The very next day we both attempt to call to make an appointment. He kept waiting 20 minutes before giving up and trying again. I called and waited for about 10 minutes before speaking to the receptionist. She sounded exhausted. Why did we choose northshore? We choose northshore because unfortunately they don't have health insurance and they work with family on a sliding scale. Northshore is for the community right? We learned very quickly how wrong we were. We also choose northshore because we checked out the website. It clearly states all of the dental services provided. We felt relieved knowing that we were able to get her into the dentist the very next day and her pain would be gone. They arrived to the appointment 15 minutes early. They walk in and wait in line. On their turn they are told they can just go into the dental office. They make their way down to discover that no one is at the desk and the place is empty. A nurse walks in and tells them to head back to the main desk. They wait again. He had all the paperwork filled out and ready. He gives his daughters name and is told her appointment isn't for another 2 weeks. Mind you, I verified 3 times with the receptionist it was for the next day. They went back to his vehicle and called explaining the situation. They told him to come back inside where he once again had to wait. They still had all of her paperwork folded up underneath the keyboard and asked him to fill it out electronically. Is this pure laziness of the office staff or is this the new protocol. He did as he was asked. They finally get called back to see the dentist. They did an xray. The doctor put his finger in her mouth and said yup she's got a cavity but we don't fill cavities here. Wait!! What!?! Your a dentist that doesn't fill cavities? When I called i explained she had a cavity and the woman said they would concentrate on that tooth. Hmm. Then the doctor said the pain is caused by a bacterial infection so here is an antibiotic to be filled and here are a couple of referrals to other dentists in the area. Back into the waiting area. He had to ask how much he owed. Then was told that the billing woman would not be in until 11. Her appointment was at 10am. He had to explain what was done and they originally said $70 and then said oh wait and ended up charging him $106. So unorganized! Then they didn't even ask for bank statement or anything for that so called sliding scale. Being confused about the situation. I reached out to the Facebook site and complain about the lack of care. I was told that they would contact him directly within 24 hours. It has now been 5 days and he hasn't heard anything. They wouldn't even say anything to me until I made this first Google review. I come back on to the review and see the standard bull they have given every other complaint. He missed a full days work and she missed school for something that he could have went to urgent care for after hours. What are you guys going to do? Are you going to let this fall on deaf ears or are you going to fix the situation? Are you going to make sure that the organization of the building improves?

I could not believe I went to Northshore in Portage, Indiana and no one was wearing masks, even after the CDC recommendations changed and said they should be required. The doctors, nurses, staff, patients, no one, and no temperatures were being taken. And it’s a medical facility. They are talking shutting businesses down for not following guidelines . Hmmm maybe I should go to the newspapers. Does anyone know how to get a hold of Jan Wilson, I heard she’s the CEI in Portage, Indiana.
