On October 23, 2023 I had to bring my husband to Piedmont Urgent Care at Hwy 81 and Route 78 in Loganville, Ga. It was the worst experience at any health care facility. He presented with urgent symptoms NOT emergent. He was feverish, achy, diarrhea for 3 days, some inhalation involvement, and quite weak. The wait was long. Once in the exam room, he was tested for covid and flu, BP taken, and the usual questions by the Nurse. Then another long wait. The Nurse Practitioner walked in and barely looked at my husband or his chart and stated in a cold and detached manner, "The 2 tests are negative and we can't do anything for you here." I asked why. No answer. Then I asked about blood work or possible x-ray. She said, "We don't do that here. Take him to an E.R. I asked why an urgent patient is being sent to the E.R. Emergency Rooms are for EMERGENT patients. She had no answer. Piedmont may as well shut down the Urgent Care facilities as they are USELESS!! Urgent Care is there to avoid clogging the systems in the hospital ER.'s and should have the proper clinicians and equipment to be of value to the patients. If this Nurse Practitioner was either too lazy or too stupid to make an educated diagnosis based on the symptoms and evidence presented, then Piedmont should be very ashamed!! This visit was a waste of my $35.00 copay and my Insurance's payment portion.
