Went to urgent care clinic. Saw a PA dr Radda or close to that name. First of all, I could hardly walk. Only the receptionist lady as I was heading down to X-ray offered a wheelchair. Not the man that checked me in, not the nurse or the PA. She didn’t offer any pain meds after I told her I couldn’t sleep from the pain, nothing worked, not aleve, ibuprofen, Ben gay, heat, cold, nothing. She sent down for X-ray. She said nothing showed. Came home went to fracture clinic because the pain was bad, I ended up with surgery due to a torn meniscus. Will never go there again!!!!!!

My wife Has been suffering from a case of shingles. This was spotted by our son, who is a nephrologist doctor at OHSU in Portland Oregon, when we arrived for a visit. He referred us to another doctor there who prescribed a one-week antiviral course which she completed today. Because her case had improved but not completely resolved, we visited the Manzanita Adventist clinic this morning to see if she should renew the antiviral course, seek an alternative medication, or just get something to relieve the sharp headaches associated with the shingles. The visit was extremely pleasing from beginning to end. The staff hotel with her on arrival, were pleasant and efficient and there was not a long wait time before she could be seen by extremely competent medical personnel. The first, hall asked preliminary questions as physician assistance or similar personnel generally do before one sees a doctor, was an EMT and very good. After the preliminaries, my wife was seen by an outstanding, extremely knowledgeable and competent nurse practitioner named Lee, whom we thought must be all fall scale medical doctor because he was so good. He was very careful and thorough in examining my wife and asking questions about when the illness began, what had been the symptoms, and in checking for any possible other issues besides the shingles. He recommended against renewal of the antiviral because of potential side effects of longer term use and because her case was resolving satisfactorily. He prescribed a steroid to deal with the pain, saying that he thought it preferable to opiates. Everything about him was impressive. On hearing my wife’s report on the visit and Lee’s prescription decisions, our doctor/professor son fully concurred. Based on this visit, I would rate this medical facility A-1!!!

    Is a flu shot necessary?

Everyone 6 months or older should get vaccinated for the flu every year. Influenza, or the flu, is a serious virus and infection that hospitalizes and kills thousands of people annually. And it is constantly changing. The flu vaccine is the best way to protect yourself and your family from contracting the virus.

Do I need to get a flu shot every year?

Flu vaccines are needed annually, primarily for two reasons. First, the flu virus is constantly evolving, meaning the virus you received a vaccine for last year is unique from the virus in the upcoming season. As such, the vaccine itself needs to be different. Second, the vaccine itself wears off and your immune system’s response to the flu virus decreases over time. Unless you receive the vaccine every year, you will lack necessary immunity.

When should I get a flu shot?

Each year is a little different, but flu season generally starts as early as September. Getting a flu shot early in the season - August to October - gives your buddy the best opportunity to build up immunity to the virus as it does take roughly two weeks for the vaccine to protect you against infection. Of course, if you are unable to get the flu shot early, getting a flu shot later still helps as the virus could last through May.

How effective is the flu shot?

Each year, the CDC and other organizations conduct studies to determine the effectiveness of the flu vaccine against that years flu virus. According to the CDC, recent studies show that flu vaccination reduces the risk of flu illness by between 40% and 60%. Of course, there are multiple types and strands of the flu virus including influenza B and influenza A(H1N1), as well as influenza A(H3N2). Generally speaking, flu shots tend to work better against influenza types A & B.

How long does a flu shot last?

The flu vaccine lasts for one flu season as the virus constantly evolves and each year the vaccine is produced to specifically protect against the strand(s) that are prevalent in the upcoming flu season.

How much does a flu shot cost?

Depending on where you get your flu vaccine, what type of vaccine you are getting, and whether or not you are insured, flu shot costs vary. Generally speaking, however, flu shots can cost between $0 and $50, sometimes more.

Is a flu shot covered by insurance?

Your health insurance must cover the flu vaccine, as well as other vaccines, without a copayment or coinsurance. However, check with your insurance company to see if the vaccine must be administered at a specified location.

Flu Shot: Helpful Flu Shot Reviews

"This test was way better than the last test. My daughter said her last test hurt worse than her flu shot. Knox was extremely patient with her & she was surprised that it was over so quickly & painlessly."

"Everyone was so kind and helpful. Best experience at a doctors office. Dr. Livingston was very kind and listened to our concerns. We even got blood work and flu shots done there the same day of visit. It’s amazing."

"I just went in for a flu shot, but I chose NextCare because of the favorable experience that my wife had the previous week. My shot took longer than a drug store, but the nurse was excellent. I didn’t even feel the needle go in. "

"Super efficient and fast with a virtual check-in. My kids are always nervous for flu shots - EB Pediatrics staff and doctors are understanding and quick with the shots - makes the experience less stressful for the parent and less traumatic for the kids. Thank you!"

"I had been exposed to COVID-19 on a Wednesday, got a heavy duty flu shot on a Friday and proceeded to get a reaction that night and for the next couple days. I was afraid I was coming down with COVID so scheduled to be tested Saturday morning. Did it on-line, had to wait in line about 15 minutes and was done. The staff was very professional, courteous and gentle. They made it so quick and easy."

"Wait time was long due to mobs of people getting COVID testing. My adult handicapped daughter was getting her flu shot. The tech or Nurse was very kind & friendly to her. However, after swabbing with alcohol, she wiped it off with a tissue instead of letting it dry. (She had good intentions-to avoid stinging from the alcohol) Additionally she ended up giving the injection outside the area that she had wiped. Perhaps a quick inservice on IM injections would be in order. "

"My husband and I along with our 2 young boys went to get flu shots. They were kind, patient, and wonderful with us and my kids. My 6 year old usually cries over getting shots and the nurse was so nice and he didn't shed a year. They were so efficient that we were able to get the boys back to school very quickly! "

"Considering the current state of things during this Pandemic, the longer wait time is COMPLETELY understandable. Everyone was super helpful and pleasant, no one acted bothered or inconvenienced as can sometimes be the case with “customer service” elsewhere. They checked me for EVERYTHING I asked for and needed, and I would have been able to get a flu shot as well if they hadn’t run out of them (and if I wasn’t sick)!! It’s comforting to know that even when my own doctor’s office tells me they have nothing available for two days prior to the weekend (which of course they are closed then), there was someplace I could go to get the care I needed. Thank you to all the front line workers that go the extra mile to provide us with sincere care!!"

"Amazing! The girls were great. Thank you for offering such a convenient way to get the flu shot, it is very much appreciated! Especially during these times when were all working from home, it made getting the flu shot right down the hall very easy. Thank you!! "

"Brought in my disabled daughter for flu shot. CVS had refused to do it as my daughters disability is cerebral palsy with severe developmental delays and she won’t keep on a mask. PhysicianOne made special accommodations and gave both of our shots in the car. Thanks so much for the compassion and care. Being a caregiver to a special needs child is hard enough under normal conditions. The special accommodations made our day and restored our faith in humanity in these difficult times."

"I went in for a flu shot, Anthony was exceptional. He checked me in immediately, and gave the shot which I did not even feel it. He is extremely professional at the same time very caring and considerate. The staff at primary care are wonderful. "
