Access Medical Centers, Pryor - 4115 Redden
My daughter woke up with a rash yesterday morning. I booked her an appointment. We did not have to wait long before being taken to a room. The nurse was incredibly friendly and even gave me some tips for getting meds down a kid who has a hard time taking medicines. The doctor diagnosed her with contact dermatitis. She sent meds to the pharmacy. When I picked the medicine up the bottle stated to take 1 pill 4 times every day with food. This was odd to me because the last time my daughter had this medication she was given a large dose which was gradually weaned down. Also, there were 21 pills in the bottle, seemed odd that the bottle didn't specify to take only one pill on the 6th day, since that would have been all that was left. I called my daughters pcp, who I trust, and she advised she would not have ordered that medication to be dosed in the manner the urgent care doctor had prescribed. After sending our pcp pictures and the papers from Access, as they had issues getting her record from access, the pcp then called in a different medication and advised to not give my daughter any of the original prescription. I would have normally just went to the pcp, but they had no availability that day. I'm unsure if giving her the medication as prescribed would have caused any issues for my daughter, but I'm glad I had realized something didn't seem right. If it had been her father taking her, he would have never thought anything of it and just given them to our child. For this reason I am unsure about returning to Access Medical Urgent Care.

About Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Testing

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Testing is a diagnostic test used to detect the presence of human papillomavirus, a common sexually transmitted infection (STI). HPV can cause genital warts and is associated with the development of cervical cancer and other cancers. Early detection of high-risk HPV strains is crucial for timely intervention and prevention of potential complications.

Who Should Get Tested

If you reside in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, and are sexually active, Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Testing is recommended, especially for individuals:

  • Between the ages of 21 and 65
  • With abnormal cervical screening results (Pap smear)
  • With a history of genital warts or other STIs

Test Methods for HPV

HPV Testing can be performed using:

  • HPV DNA Test: This test detects the genetic material of high-risk HPV strains in cervical cells.
  • HPV Pap Test (Co-Testing): Combining an HPV DNA test with a Pap smear for comprehensive screening and evaluation of cervical health.

Interpreting the Results

The interpretation of HPV Testing results involves evaluating the presence of high-risk HPV strains in cervical cells. Positive results indicate the presence of high-risk HPV, which may require further evaluation, while negative results suggest the absence of high-risk HPV strains at the time of testing.

Importance of HPV Testing

HPV Testing is important for:

  • Early detection of high-risk HPV strains
  • Monitoring cervical health and identifying precancerous changes
  • Preventing the progression of cervical cancer and other HPV-related cancers
  • Providing guidance for appropriate follow-up and management

Following the Test

After HPV Testing, healthcare providers discuss the results with individuals and recommend appropriate follow-up based on the test results and individual risk factors. Regular cervical screening and vaccination against HPV are essential for cervical cancer prevention.

HPV Testing in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, empowers individuals to take charge of their cervical health and make informed decisions to safeguard their well-being against HPV-related risks.
