The receptionist and PA that was there today (2/20/2019)were great and amazing! My only complaint was that the nurse on staff today was not so warm and welcoming let alone have 1 smile on her face . Other than her I was very happy with our visit today .

I came in to check on shoulder and extremity pain. The facility had no x ray and doctor didn’t even examine the affected area. He said he would do a referral to an ortho but they didn’t even list options of who to call.  I had to google for an orthopedic doctor which I could’ve done without the 50 dollar co pay. Ain’t coming back.

Sick with sinus symptoms(sore throat, hurtful ears, headache, congestion, etc). Scheduling was extremely easy and the front desk staff was wonderful. Met with the nurse practitioner who did absolutely nothing. Told me to take motrin and tylenol for my symptoms. She barely checked anything. I know I forsure have a sinus infection and she wouldn’t even know because she didn’t even do a full detailed exam. People are advised to not use doctor google but it would’ve been cheaper. If you’re looking for a solution please go to a different urgent care.

I was able to choose a Quest lab location and schedule an appointment. Check in was easy, and I only needed to provide my name and DOB. They were able to locate my order in their system. They were already aware that my labs were paid for prior to the appointment. I had my labs done on a Wednesday, and I received my results by Saturday. Great experience.

Zion HIV Testing

Who should get tested for HIVs?

Anyone who is sexually active, especially those with multiple partners, should consider getting tested for HIV. It's particularly crucial for those who engage in unprotected sex or share needles for drug use. Pregnant women should also get tested to prevent transmission to their unborn child. According to the CDC, everyone between the ages of 13 and 64 should get tested at least once in their lifetime.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for HIV is vital for several reasons. Early detection can lead to early treatment, which can significantly improve long-term health outcomes and reduce the risk of transmission to others. Knowing your status also allows you to make informed decisions about your health and lifestyle.

HIV testing options in Zion, IL:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care and walk-in clinics are convenient options for HIV testing. Midwest Express Clinic in Northbrook and Local MD Urgent Care in Skokie are two nearby options. You can book same-day and next-day appointments at these clinics through Solv’s website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Your primary care provider can also provide HIV testing. If you don't have one, Solv can help you find a trusted healthcare provider in your area.

Free STD testing and community health centers

Community health centers often offer free or low-cost HIV testing. It's worth checking with local centers in Zion and surrounding areas to see what services they provide.

At-home testing

At-home HIV testing kits are another option. These kits allow you to collect a sample at home and send it to a lab for testing. Results are typically available within a few days.

Prevalence of HIVs in Zion

While specific data on HIV prevalence in Zion, IL, is not readily available, it's important to note that HIV is a significant public health issue across the United States. According to the CDC, there were over 36,000 new HIV diagnoses in 2018. Regular testing is crucial for early detection and treatment.

Risk factors related to HIVs in Zion

Risk factors for HIV in Zion are similar to those in other parts of the country. These include unprotected sex, multiple sexual partners, and sharing needles for drug use.

Other STDs in Zion

In addition to HIV, other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, and hepatitis are also of concern. Regular testing for these STDs is recommended for sexually active individuals, especially those with multiple partners. Testing options for these STDs are available at the same locations as HIV testing.

HIV Test FAQs

  • Who should get an HIV test?

Everyone between the ages of 13 and 64 should take an HIV test at least once in their lives. Some people are more likely to get HIV and should be tested more regularly. Those who have had sex with an HIV-positive partner, those who inject drugs, sexually active gay men, and those who have unprotected sex are all included. You should get checked every 6-12 months if you have any of these risk factors.

  • How do they test for HIV?

Antibodies created by your body in reaction to the virus are examined in HIV tests. A blood test or a sample of cells obtained from the inside of the cheek can be used to do this. After that, the sample is transported to a lab, where a technician will look for antibodies.

  • How long should I wait to get an HIV test?

It can take a long time for your body to build enough antibodies for an HIV test to detect the illness if you become sick. It may take 3-12 weeks for your blood to contain adequate antibodies. Even if you have HIV, you could have a negative test result during this time.

  • How long will I have to wait for HIV test results in Zion?

Because the sample must be sent to a laboratory for investigation, most HIV test results might take anywhere from a few days to several weeks. On the other hand, some Zion clinics or doctor's offices may offer rapid HIV testing, which can deliver a diagnosis in as little as 20 minutes. Rapid HIV testing involve a little sample of blood or fluid obtained from the mouth. You'll need a follow-up blood test to confirm the diagnosis if a fast test comes up positive.

  • How much does an HIV test cost?

A variety of factors influence the cost of an HIV test, including the type of test you receive, the location where you are tested, and whether or not you have health insurance. HIV testing may be provided for free or at a low cost by some clinics or health authorities. If you're a college student, you might be able to get free HIV tests through your school.

  • Is HIV testing covered by my insurance?

The majority of insurance coverage cover HIV testing. The Affordable Care Act mandates that all new health plans provide free HIV testing for those aged 15 to 65. If you have any doubts about what is covered under your individual health plan, you can always call your insurance company or go to their website.

  • Where can I get an HIV test in Zion?

Many Zion health clinics, doctor's offices, and the health department offer HIV testing. Some pharmacies with on-site clinics may also be able to give HIV testing. Even though some clinics accept walk-in appointments, making an appointment ahead of time will save you time and ensure that you receive your test on the same day.

  • Can I get a same-day appointment for HIV testing?

Yes, Solv offers same-day and next-day HIV testing appointments. We collaborate with thousands of healthcare providers across the country to make it easier for everyone to access the medical assistance they require quickly and conveniently. On our website, you can choose a physician near you and make an appointment right now.

  • How can I book an HIV test on Solv?

Simply type "HIV test" and your location into our website's search box. You'll find a list of providers and their available appointment times on the next page. Fill out the form to arrange an appointment at a time and location that is convenient for you. Make certain that your appointment is for "HIV testing."

  • Can I test myself for HIV at home?

Although there are several home HIV tests available, not all of them are accurate or FDA-approved. For a home test, you'll need a swab from the inside of your mouth or a blood sample taken with a finger pricker. If you get a positive result on a home HIV test, you should see a doctor to confirm the diagnosis and start treatment.
