QUICKmed Urgent Care, Medina Urgent Care - 955 N Court St
Tested positive for Covid on Sunday, made appt for Wednesday because I was feeling so sick. I wanted to make sure nothing else was going on. Doctor was rude from the get go and basically told me to suck it up and it wasn't necessary to miss work. Very condescending, she had a young man shadowing her and he was very nice- he did seem uncomfortable with her bedside manner.

Sparkling Clean

My eye was almost swollen shut from poison ivy, so I went in. She told me right off there would probably be around a 45 minute wait because of two other cases there, which I appreciated being told up front! Mine wasn’t an emergency so it was fine. When it was my turn to go in, it was only a few minutes before the doctor came in...They were so nice (and I wish I was better with remembering names) and the doctor made sure everything else was ok and wasn’t rushing me through. I would recommend this place....I appreciated their kindness and efficiency!

About Gonorrhea Testing

Who should get tested for gonorrhea?

Anyone who is sexually active is at risk for contracting gonorrhea, especially those with multiple sexual partners or those who do not consistently use condoms. It is particularly important for sexually active women under the age of 25, men who have sex with men, and individuals with HIV to get tested regularly, as these groups are at a higher risk. According to the CDC, regular testing is the best way to protect yourself and your partners from the spread of gonorrhea.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for gonorrhea is crucial for a few reasons. First, many people with gonorrhea do not have any symptoms, so they may not know they have the infection. If left untreated, gonorrhea can cause serious health problems such as infertility in women, increased risk of getting or giving HIV, and potentially life-threatening complications. By getting tested, you can ensure that you get the necessary treatment and prevent the spread of the infection to others.

Gonorrhea testing options in Wooster, OH:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Primary care providers

Your primary care provider can also test for gonorrhea. If you have a regular healthcare provider, they may be the best place to start as they are already familiar with your health history.

Free STD testing and community health centers

There are also community health centers in and around Wooster that offer free or low-cost STD testing. These centers are a great resource, especially for those without insurance or with limited financial means.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits are another option. These kits can be ordered online, used at home, and then sent back to a lab for analysis. The results are then sent to you confidentially.

While exact numbers for Wooster are not readily available, Wayne County, where Wooster is located, has seen a rise in gonorrhea cases in recent years, mirroring a national trend. Comparatively, nearby counties such as Fayette and Indiana also report high rates of gonorrhea. It's important to note that these numbers only represent reported cases, and the actual number of infections may be higher.

Risk factors related to gonorrhea in Wooster

Risk factors for gonorrhea in Wooster are similar to those nationwide. These include being sexually active, having multiple sexual partners, inconsistent condom use, and having a previous history of any STD. Additionally, men who have sex with men and individuals with HIV are at a higher risk.
