I went to urgent care because I had a infection from a scratch on my head and it spread .. I went there for the first time walked in and the receptionist took my info . I started to sit down but the nurse was already calling my name . The very friendly professional nurse took blood pressure.and ask some questions . As she walk out the doctor came in . She was very nice and professional look at my head and neck and confirmed it was a infection . She gave me antibiotic . Total time was about 15 minutes . . I would recommend the urgent care .. And now I will be seeing a doctor there .. I will be doing a review .. Thanks Debbie

About Gonorrhea Testing

Who should get tested for gonorrhea?

According to the CDC, anyone who is sexually active can get gonorrhea, but it's most commonly found among individuals aged 15-24. Those with multiple sexual partners or a new partner, as well as those who don't use a condom consistently, are at a higher risk. Additionally, men who have sex with men, and individuals with a history of other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) should consider regular testing.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for gonorrhea is crucial because it can lead to serious health complications if left untreated, including pelvic inflammatory disease in women and epididymitis in men, both of which can result in infertility. Moreover, gonorrhea can increase one's risk of getting or transmitting HIV. Early detection and treatment can prevent these complications and stop the spread of the infection to others.

Gonorrhea testing options in Greendale, WI:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care centers like Popcare in Franklin and AFC Urgent Care in Waukesha offer same-day and next-day testing appointments for gonorrhea, which can be booked through Solv's website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers are another option for gonorrhea testing. These healthcare professionals can provide testing as part of a routine check-up or upon request.

Free STD testing and community health centers

Community health centers often offer free or low-cost STD testing, including for gonorrhea. These centers are a valuable resource for those without insurance or with limited income.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits for gonorrhea are also available. These kits provide privacy and convenience, as they allow individuals to take the test at their own comfort and send the sample to a lab for analysis.

Prevalence of gonorrhea in Greendale

While specific data for Greendale is not readily available, Milwaukee County, where Greendale is located, has seen a significant increase in gonorrhea cases over the years. This trend aligns with the national data, which shows an increase in gonorrhea cases across the United States.

Risk factors related to gonorrhea in Greendale

Risk factors for gonorrhea in Greendale are likely similar to those on a national level. These include being sexually active, having multiple or new sexual partners, inconsistent condom use, and having a history of other STIs.

In addition to gonorrhea, other STDs such as chlamydia, HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis are also prevalent in Greendale and the surrounding areas. Regular testing for these STDs is recommended, especially for those in high-risk groups. Similar to gonorrhea, testing options for these STDs are available at urgent care centers, primary care providers, community health centers, and via at-home testing kits.
