When the doctor came in the room, I explained what was wrong and he just didn’t seem to care he did a few examinations but didn’t really examine where I said it was hurting. Going to a different urgent care today. Hopefully I’ll get better results and more answers

Was not impressed with the bedside manner of the PA. He prescribed a medicine the would counter act qith my warfin. I would have never known but the person at Walmart would not fill it because of this. I called the office to let them know what he did. The MA said that they would call another one in but they would be closing so give it an hour for it to go through. I waited over an hour called the pharmacy and they told me nothing had come through yet. So at 6 I called the Broomfield office and they did a wonderful job. I got my medication. I feel that more supervision should be at that location in thornton. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THUS TO ANYONE.

Got food poisoning while traveling and booked an appointment the day of my return to be seen. The wait time was minimal and scheduling and pre paperwork were easy. I had no food or proper liquids for the past 3 days and am experiencing extreme vomiting and diarrhea. Intake was rushed, no bloodwork was done, I was given a stool sample kit to take home. They infiltrated the IV in my arm, causing swelling and pain, and I only got a quarter of a bag of fluid into my body. No hot compress or other help offered, no additional IV point offered to get me more fluid. They told me that in anti nausea meds were called into my pharmacy, which I just went to, and the pharmacy didn’t receive the prescription order. I will now need to call back to request that the prescription be sent again. Horrible experience when I already feel awful and have no energy. I had to pay $200 out of pocket even with insurance. I will likely just go to a different care facility tomorrow to actually get an IV and bloodwork done.

Recent COVID-19 Testing Reviews (20)

I never went inside. ALL Covid testing and sign-up was done outside by instructions clearly stated on their front door and windows…. and I briefly waited comfortably in my car. Easy to navigate the website. Quick test and fast results! My only concern is in re: to the paper result copy you get. It looks almost “homemade” and is in funky print black-n-white. A colored document would “appear” so much more professional and legit. I just hope the “professional Concert event” that I’m attending this weekend will except it as real and legitimate, and won’t think that I made it up myself. It honestly looks like something I could have typed up at home by pulling some “standard form” off the Internet. I am one of those people that came here to get a test NOT because I was ill, but because I needed to show that I have had a TRUE negative result in the past 48-72hrs. as is REQUIRED by this facility, and which I DID!! I thought : “YES, I am UN-vaccinated (for my own personal reasons) but, I am WELL, and I can therefore attend a performance in a very nice and well established performance hall, likely even sitting shoulder to shoulder, because I Legitimately went out of my way to make this test happen.” However, this doc falls short of “appearing” top-notch professional, EVEN THOUGH everyone I came in contact with either by phone or in person at this facility was incredibly professional! An identification stamp, an attached colored brochure representing the clinic, or even a “live” signature (added just before handing it to me) would’ve been better than this. I am just hoping and praying that this works to admit me to this special event, which was always my intent for doing this in the 1st place. Maybe my comments here will help in some small way to improve the professionalism of the documentation that you receive after getting your test done. Everything else about this facility was extremely pleasant and swift. And the employees were terrific! Wait Time = wonderful. Check-in = swift. Booked thru my smart phone. My cost for this test is YTBD due to not knowing up front, because I never called my insurance provider 1st. But I wasn’t worried about that from the get-go. It’s a great place to SUPPORT!!

My needs for a Covid test were URGENT as my mom is in Hospice with days to live. I came from FL and the Nursing Home decided to make their own rules about End of Life Visits and tried to make me quarantine for 14 days, which she does not have. I was able to get a Rapid Test at NO COST with a 15 minute result. Although my appointment was scheduled at 2:15 they told me to come on by. I arrived at 9:42 am and had the results at 11:42. I was greeted by wonderful and caring people. I was permitted to visit my mom thanks to the care and compassion of NextCare and their employees. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!

I had to get a rapid COVID test for attending a concert, and used OnPoint due to my regular physician being booked. This could have been something to easily dismiss as mundane and routine - thus cutting corners on service/bed-side manner. Definitely not the case with this visit. The online process to register, book appointment, and check in was very easy to navigate and get through quickly. The staff with whom I interacted were all friendly, and professional with a genuine care for me as a patient/customer. I will definitely be returning to On Point for any future urgent care needs.

I have had a horrific cold going on 10 days now and my husband is starting to get it now. We came in for a COVID test just to be sure. Our doctor was very thorough to the point where she ordered a chest X-ray to be sure I didn’t have pneumonia. My O2 level was quite low so she was quite concerned about that. The doc questioned us both very thoroughly. It was nice we could go in the same room together as well. We booked our appointment on line.

I can’t say enough great things about Tanya Fedyshyn. I have anxiety when it comes to anything medical related.(I’m literally almost 30 but you wouldn’t know that if you saw me in a doctors office crying over a throat culture) She was extremely kind, understanding and created a safe space that allowed me to feel comfortable. I’m usually not a review person, but when you are literally telling anyone who will listen that you had a good experience during a covid test, it deserves a shout out!

- Verified patient on 10/21

Easy to make my appointment online. I came during peak hours (around 6:30pm) to get a COVID test so I expected to have to wait. My appointment was for 6:40 and I was finally seen around 7:30pm. The doctor who attended to me (Diane) was very friendly and took the time to listen to all of my concerns. I really appreciated that. I was out within 30 minutes or so with a negative test and a much better understanding of what to do to stay safe.

Excellent help from Next Care: *** Grant Street. Thornton, Colorado. The receptionist was outstanding and very professional. Her name was Amanda and a credit to your business. The clinician who gave us a rapid Covid test was also excellent. Her name was Alea. We attended the clinic 9/03/*** in the AM. We would like them both to have special recognition for their services. Wait time was a little lengthy. We arrived at 8:10 and seen at 10:00. We did not have a scheduled appointment.

NextCare was able to get my daughter in for a rapid COVID test very quickly. While we were there, the physician suggested that we get her a rapid strep test and a rapid flu test. I totally forgot about strep throat and the flu when all we hear about is COVID. I was grateful for their recommendation. The staff was friendly, timely, and welcoming. I would highly recommend this facility and will plan on using it again.

We were at Next Care to get a COVID test for our granddaughter. We did not go in the facility..doctor came out to our car. I made a reservation for 3:40. We got there at 3:25....called then waited on hold until 4:00 until we were officially checked in. At 4:05 the doctor and assistant came out to the car. They were great...helped Olivia feel comfortable(she’s 14) and waited with us until her blood pressure came down.

Came in for a Covid test feeling like hot garbage. The staff was super nice. The wait was a little longer than expected but I was not annoyed because I saw that the PA got full PPE. It made me very happy to see that she has the proper gear to do her job and I thank those in charge for making sure she has it. I hope everyone stays safe and healthy.

Sat in my car waiting for 30 min after I checked in online. I was there for a Covid test so I was testing to be respectful by waiting in my car. Then I saw people that checked in after me coming off the list so I went inside. Turns out I needed to fill out additional paperwork and that was why I wasn’t being helped. This was never communicated to me.

First time user and believer! Nextcare made it super easy and the staffer providing the covid test was just awesome, he was sensitive with the swab and we joked the whole time. My only complaint would be the website mislead the services and process causing an extra trip. Someone answered the phone by the second ring each time which is just unheard of in this pandemic environment.. kudos!

I needed to get a COVID test. On a Sunday. January 2nd. I was expecting to wait for hours as I did not have an appointment. I was one of the first there and was in and out in 40 minutes. They were well organized and friendly, even after the screener had to deal with the guy behind me who was a complete a-hole.

Very friendly and caring staff there, who saw me and preformed a covid test, even though I have symptoms and was possibly exposed to help me find out if I do have covid or not. Im not great at navigating websites but their website was fairly easy to use and when I called it was answered everytime in a very short amount of time.

About COVID Testing

Types of COVID Tests

There are two types of coronavirus tests (COVID-19 tests) available, those that can test for a current infection (viral test) and those that can test for a past infection (antibody test).

Viral COVID testing can be done in a few different ways, the most common being nose swabs, but saliva tests are becoming more popular. Some tests are processed out on-site and can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. These are called rapid COVID tests. The majority of tests, on the other hand, are collected at the clinic on-site and then submitted to off-site labs for processing. Results can take up to 2-3 days to arrive.

Antibody testing looks for a past infection and may not reveal if you have an active COVID-19 infection because antibodies can take up to three weeks to form in your body. The presence of COVID antibodies may help to prevent you from becoming infected with the same virus again; but, because the clinical understanding of COVID-19 is still developing, it's unclear how long that protection will continue.

Who should get tested for current infection

The CDC currently defines four instances where COVID testing is recommended:

  1. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. If you have been vaccinated, or tested positive in the past 3 months and not experiencing symptoms, you do not need to be tested.
  3. If you are unvaccinated and participated in high-risk activities where distancing is not an option. This could include travel, large social or mass gatherings, crowded indoor settings, etc.
  4. If you have been referred to get a COVID test by your healthcare provider or local health department.

How is testing done for COVID-19?

Most COVID tests are collected by a nasal swab. A member of the medical team puts a swab inside your nose for a few seconds on each side to collect the sample. After that, the samples are packaged according to CDC guidelines and tested on-site or transported to a facility for testing. The lab will test samples for the presence of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID infection and either your care provider or the lab will notify you with the results as soon as they are available.

Molecular vs Antigen Tests

Viral COVID tests are available as molecular and antigen tests. The molecular test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, usually delivers results within a few days since most of these tests are sent to offsite labs for analysis. The average turnaround time for PCR test results is 48 hours, but in some instances may be significantly longer due to backlogs related to insufficient lab volume and capacity. Antigen tests are also known as rapid tests and have an average turnaround time of between 15 to 30 minutes.

Both PCR and rapid COVID tests can be used to test people exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, those who were close contacts to COVID-19, and those without COVID-19 symptoms who live or work in a high-risk setting (such as a nursing facility); or those individuals who are identified as part of outbreak detection and response. The rapid COVID test is also recommended for the screening of residents or healthcare workers at skilled nursing facilities along with a PCR confirmation, and for repeat screening for the early detection and prevention of outbreaks in congregate settings (such as schools, workplaces, and prisons).

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. To reduce the risk of facing extra costs related to COVID testing, ask your primary care doctor to recommend a free COVID test site, and confirm there are no charges or fees for the test that are not covered by your insurance plan. Additionally, avoid getting a COVID test at a hospital or free-standing emergency room, as these facilities may charge fees for COVID testing and related services.

COVID-19 Testing FAQs

  • How much does COVID testing cost?

COVID testing can be free in many circumstances. As part of their response to the epidemic, many Colorado health departments continue to provide free testing to community citizens. In some situations, commercially insured patients, as well as those on Medicare or Medicaid, may be able to get testing for free or for a small office visit fee. COVID tests can cost anything from $50 to $150 each test for cash-paying individuals or those who require speedy answers in under an hour. It's best to call your doctor before getting tested so you can get a better idea of how much the test will cost.

  • Where can I get free COVID testing?

The Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which covers testing for people without health insurance, makes COVID testing free nationwide. Check with your local Colorado health department for details since they are usually an excellent source of free COVID tests, or can at least lead you in the proper way. You can also ask your health care practitioner for a recommendation for a free COVID test location.

  • Where can I get COVID testing in Colorado?

COVID testing is available at many outlets near Colorado including urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care offices, health departments, and more. Different venues will have different types of tests available, many at different price points. Some testing sites are allowing walk-in patients, however, many are still requiring some degree of advance booking to control patient volume.

  • Where can I get a rapid COVID test in Colorado?

Rapid testing—both PCR (molecular) and antigen tests—is offered through many Colorado-area urgent care centers and physician offices, usually at an additional cost ranging from $50 up to $150 per test. Usually this will allow you to get results back in under an hour, and require advanced booking through the provider. However, if you can wait 24 hours for your results, many labs are turning around send-out lab tests in that time frame, which could save you some money.

  • How to make an appointment for COVID testing in Colorado?

Same-day and next day appointments for COVID testing in Colorado are bookable directly through Solv. Simply browse the list of healthcare providers conducting COVID tests above, find one with a “Book Online” button, and book a time that aligns with your schedule stating “COVID-19 Test” as your reason for visit.

  • Can I get tested for antibodies if I am sick with COVID-19?

An antibody test for COVID-19 might inform you if you previously had a coronavirus infection. Because it can take between 1–3 weeks after an infection for your body to develop these antibodies, an antibody test during an active infection would not be successful. To see if you are currently infected, you need a viral test.

  • Do I need a COVID test if I have been vaccinated?

Even if you have been fully vaccinated, scientists feel you should be checked if you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, especially if you are suffering cold or flu symptoms that are usually associated with the coronavirus.

  • How long does COVID testing take?

A COVID test is quick. A nasal swab is used for the majority of tests, and it takes less than a minute to swab both nostrils. This means you might be in and out of the testing center in as little as 10-15 minutes, depending on where you obtain your COVID test. Testing sites may be busier than usual during popular seasons, especially around holidays, and wait times may be higher.

  • How long does it take to get COVID test results?

Most labs are sending out COVID test results via molecular (PCR) within 24-48 hours of the test. Some sites take longer, so call and ask if the reason for the test is proof for travel. Rapid tests are processed on-site and can provide findings in less than an hour, sometimes as quickly as 15 minutes.

  • Do COVID tests detect the Delta variant and Omicron variant?

Regular COVID tests are able to detect both the Delta variant and Omicron variant in that they can determine whether or not you have the coronavirus. However, they can't tell which variation is involved. That would necessitate genomic sequencing, which is a different process from regular virus testing that not all labs can undertake. Sequencing is uncommon and can cost up to $100 per test. Since the treatment is the same for any variant, it is not clinically useful to an individual patient to know whether the infection was caused by a variant or not.
