When I checked in, the staff was so helpful and pleasant. My initial evaluation was done with so much ease and when the Doctor, Nicole,  came in shortly after, she was very nice and very attentive . When I was taken for an X-ray, the technician was also very nice and helpful and made the testing easy to undergo. All in all, to the very last conversation with Nicole, it was a very pleasant experience.

I made an appointment online and was able to get an appointment quickly. I did not wait and was greeted kindly. The nurse practitioner that saw me took time with me and sent a prescription to my pharmacy immediately. She told me to get back to her if I wasnt doing better or had any questions. Way better than going to my family practitioners where I was told I couldn’t be seen until July 15th for a sick appointment. Highly recommend Carbon Health in Jenkintown.

I have been to 3 other Urgent Care sites owned by 3 separate providers over the last couple of years and yours is by far the best. Thank you!

Billed for uralysis test when no urine sample was given or collected. Osmosis??? Physically went to Urgent Care a few days later to inform them of this error. The response was that it was in the computer and nothing could be done. I reiterate, no urine sample was given. Then after I scheduled a test as Urgent Care prescribed, l went for test and was told test could not be done because paper script that Urgent Care gave me had no signature, and I was further informed that test site had, a few days prior to scheduled test, called Urgent Care to obtain a copy of script which was not received. So test site staff then immediately called Urgent Care to obtain script so test could be performed. After I sat at test site for 30+ minutes, test site again called and was told script could not be provided because person needed to sign the script was off that day and probably I should reschedule the test. At this point, being in pain and having fasted all day for test to be performed, and sitting at the test site for over a half an hour, I was furious. I immediately went back to Urgent Care and after making a fuss was provided a signed script. By this time it was too late in the day to have test performed so it was scheduled for a few day later, after my appointment to see my primary care provider. Test was to performed prior to visit to PCP for his review. VERY DISSATISFIED

Easy to schedule, they had a same day appt and I was able to book right at 9 am, staff and PA were SO nice, PA was informative and friendly, with great bedside manner and advice. My only opportunity area for this Urgent Care would be to reduce the wait time. It took 40 minutes before I even saw the PA from when I arrived with the 9 am appt. And all together I was there 1 hour and 30 minutes. PA was new and learning the ropes and computer systems, but this waiting time (with an appt) should look to be shortened in the future.

Getting Tested for STDs in Philadelphia, PA

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider regular STD testing as part of their overall health routine. This is particularly important for those with multiple sexual partners, those who have had unprotected sex, or those who have symptoms of an STD. According to the CDC, sexually active women under 25 years old, men who have sex with men, and people with HIV should get tested more frequently.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is a crucial step in maintaining your sexual health. Early detection can prevent serious health complications, such as infertility, cancer, and organ damage. Furthermore, knowing your status can help prevent the spread of STDs to others.

Std testing options in Philadelphia, PA:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care and walk-in clinics offer convenient, same-day STD testing. These facilities are equipped to provide rapid results, often within a few hours. One highly-rated option in Philadelphia is Carbon Health, located at 701 S Broad St, Philadelphia, PA 19147.

Primary care providers

Your primary care provider can also conduct STD testing. This can be a comfortable option for many as it involves a healthcare provider you are familiar with.

Free STD testing and community health centers

For those without insurance or with limited financial resources, free STD testing may be available at community health centers. It's important to contact these centers directly to confirm availability and any potential costs.

At-home testing

At-home STD testing kits provide a private and convenient option. These kits can be ordered online, used at home, and then sent to a lab for analysis. Results are typically available within a few days.

Prevalence of STDs in Philadelphia

STD rates in Philadelphia are a significant public health concern. According to the CDC, Philadelphia County has one of the highest rates of STDs in the state. The most common STDs in the area are chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis.

Risk factors related to STDs in Philadelphia

Several factors contribute to the high STD rates in Philadelphia. These include a lack of regular testing, limited access to healthcare, and socio-economic factors such as poverty and education levels. The prevalence of STDs is also higher in certain populations, including young adults, men who have sex with men, and people of color.

Remember, with over 630 testing locations available, including nearby urgent care centers and medical labs, getting tested has never been more accessible. You can book same-day and next-day testing appointments through Solv’s website and mobile app.

STD Testing FAQs

  • Where should I get an STD test in Philadelphia?

In a doctor's office, a health clinic, or an urgent care center, you can get an STD test. If you're experiencing symptoms, it's best to visit a doctor's office, where they can also treat you or issue you a prescription. Various testing are required for various STDs. Depending on the type of STD test you took, you may receive your results in two to ten days. Some outcomes may be immediately available. • What STDs can be detected by a blood test?

Blood tests are used to diagnose hepatitis B, hepatitis C, herpes, HIV, and syphilis. In a laboratory, a technician examines a blood sample for antibodies that the body has produced in reaction to disease. The virus's DNA can also be detected by several blood tests. • Can I test myself for STDs at home?

Although there are several STD home tests available, not all of them are accurate. The accuracy of any STD test is determined by the quality of the sample taken. For home STD kits, a blood sample, a urine sample, or both are frequently required. Because doctors and nurses have more experience collecting samples, traditional in-office STD testing is the most accurate.
