We have used Undeniable healthcare as a primary provider for my son who is now 12. He has sports physicals here, sick visit treatment etc. Every single visit has been an absolute pleasure. The staff, the ease to book, to pay online etc. are an added benefit. After today’s annual sport’s physical my son said, “She is a great provider! My appointment was very detailed and she is such a nice lady! “ We won’t go anyplace else! We appreciate the care we receive here. I highly recommend

My son woke up with a sore throat that contained a white substance on it. We scheduled an appointment within an hour and was in and out within 20 minutes! Dr Kojo was very professional, knowledgeable, kind and he expedited the ordering of the medication while waiting on swab results. The other staff were just as professional, considerate and welcoming unlike other urgent cares I have experienced in the past! Big shout out to DrKojo and his team for the phenomenal job they are doing!!

Recent COVID-19 Testing Reviews (20)

The staff member I spoke with initially who advised me of what to expect during the visit was very nice and professional. Dr Harris was also very cordial, and took the time to explain the differences between the rapid Covid test and the pcr test. I was satisfied with the level of care I was provided.

- Verified patient on 10/23

I waited 43 minutes for my telemedicine appointment. They seemed overly concerned about COVID tests and not my ear infection issue. I was trying to avoid going into the office. After a 43 minute wait, the provider spoke to me for 4 minutes and 35 seconds and told me to go into the office to be examined. She hung up before I had the chance to.

- Verified patient on 10/2

I was only trying to get an appointment. The call was brief and not very involved because I'm not sick, sick. Quality of care hard to judge for a simple appt request. Process was smooth but a few too many hoops to jump, and days to wait to accomplish the simple goal of a covid test. We are in a crazy time, demand high & appreciate the effort.

- Verified patient on 7/19

My experience was lovely, considering I'm after a covid test. the attendant was very pleasant and polite the only issue that I had was when i was sent a link to choose my location for my testing none of them were really that close to me. I'm in Oxford and I only had options to go to Atlanta Marietta McDonough Roswell ...so it's kind of out of the way which is a little bit annoying. However the call and the sound were clear so I would still recommend it. I don't know if there's a reason that those were my only options I did choose the rapid response test so maybe that was why.

- Verified patient on 1/7

My husband had a scheduled virtual appt right after mine. The person who conducted my visit asked if he could see my husband at The same time as me. He said I could then schedule our next day walk in appointments at the same time. When we arrived for our walk in appt, the facility had no record of either a virtual visit or an appt for my husband. We have now been waiting over an hour to be seen, and had to re-submit registration paperwork for my husband. This is very inconvenient, especially since we took the time yesterday (so we thought) to complete paperwork and virtual visits in order to have a drive up, quick swab for the rapid COVID test. VERY UNHAPPY

- Verified patient on 10/27

I went to Urgent Care for a rapid COVID test. I was able to schedule an appointment online and use the drive thru option which was amazing. I was swabbed within minutes of arriving and had my results in about 15 minutes. Every single staff member I interacted with was kind, informative and efficient. I would definitely recommend this urgent treatment facility.

- Verified patient on 2/19

The video appointment with Dr. Harris was friendly, informative and efficient. I did have to wait 15 minutes past my appointment time to connect with the doctor. At the clinic I had to wait an additional 50 minutes past my scheduled appointment to have a covid test administered. All in all it was a positive experience but the long wait times were an area that could be improved upon.

- Verified patient on 9/4

Dr. Michael Martin was wonderful. When we couldn't connect by video, he called me and we met by phone. He agreed that I ought to get a covid test. He asked where would be most convenient. He had a closer suggestion than one I knew of. He called the location and got me an appt for the time and day (tomorrow!) that I asked for. I really appreciate him going the extra mile since I couldn't find a test online at any locations near me for day soon. Thank you!

- Verified patient on 9/20

I went to the Norcross location for a rapid Covid test at 4 pm and it is now 6:30 and I have no results on MyChart They also said if I did not hear from them then the result is negative This is not the service level I paid for nor will this be acceptable for when I have to show my results. They have hours listed until 8pm but the phone says they are closed. Poor service! The Milton office is efficient and results are given in writing as advertised within 15 mins. Shame on Norcross.

- Verified patient on 11/30

I truly did not expect such on the ball caring experience in this time of massive Covid testing but I was given good advice based on my own personal health condition as I would get from my own doctor. Vivian, Katie, and Raq’ia were all excellent in their skill sets and the front desk personnel were also friendly and efficient. I felt so much more knowledgeable about What to do to manage my own Covid Prevention and Screenings than expected. I couldn’t have been more impressed by these courageous heroes of our world pandemic. BTW this is coming from somebody who is very very picky about human relations and skilled medical professionals. This group was completely on top of it!

- Verified patient on 1/3

I spoke with a doctor via telemedicine for a Covid test. He says my request would forwarded to the Smyrna GA location scheduler and I could expect a call Friday afternoon July 3rd or the next day. I know it was a holiday weekend and I know things are busy, but curious when I will get a callback to schedule the test as it is 8:30 pm on July 6th.

- Verified patient on 7/7

My first visit was for a covid test last week and the staff was delightful and the wait time wasn’t long considering I was a walk in. This visit was a virtual visit for upper respiratory infection. Shalonda the PA was so very kind and patient. My appt started right on time. Highly recommend.

- Verified patient on 10/31

I called to make an appointment for a Covid rapid test. Reuben was so , so helpful in navigating me on the computer. I must say that it very confusing to register on the computer if you are not computer savvy. Especially getting my driver’s license transferred onto the application was very difficult. I never could complete that entirely. Bridget did call me the next day & we set up a time for my Rapid Covid test. She was very pleasant as well.

- Verified patient on 10/17

I was looking for somewhere to get COVID testing, most places were on waiting list with restrictions. Well street allowed me to walk in and get tested. I’m a senior, disabled veteran and work in a front line Position. If you’re serious about your health and family use this service and the excellent staff.

- Verified patient on 5/26

This was so easy to do a virtual visit and rapid Covid test for my family. I made all kinds of mistakes along the way and they were so nice about my user errors! While I don’t want to be a frequent visitor for obvious reasons, I’m relieved to know quality care is so close and convenient.

- Verified patient on 10/4

With the exception of the initial signing up for a virtual apptmt. everything was tops. Signing up was difficult when it came to putting in the Insurance card and id. There is not enough info and guidance in the process. Charle Camerón was awesome. Easy yo see that she genuinely wanted to hear what I had to say. Listened to concerns. Answered questions and always so pleasant. Got my apptmt for the Covid test. That went smoothly and friendly as well.

- Verified patient on 9/16

The online experience was awful. I had to enter the same info three times, to see a virtual visit, to be able to get a Covid test. The same health insurance info three times, for four members each, is ridiculous. Why wouldn’t Solv retain the record from my initial input rather than making me enter it once more to do the paper work for the visit and then again when my virtual visit started. Pretty ridiculous.

- Verified patient on 10/23

The PA I saw was amazing! He was super patient as I handled a virtual visit in a parking lot with two toddlers and an infant. he was thorough and heard all my concerns and gave me sound advice/next steps for treating my children. I did have to wait 75 minutes for my appt, but I dont think that is the doctor's fault. However, I drove to get a rapid covid test an hour into my "waiting room" call, and the staff took me, no problem because of the long wait on my call.

- Verified patient on 9/11

My virtual visit was easy to schedule and the provider was friendly and reassuring during the visit, but the lack of follow up mechanisms is concerning. After my visit, I realized that I want to have the influenza test in addition to the COVID test given my Upper respiratory symptoms because the urgent care administering the tests refused to give me the Influenza test without an order from this provider. I had no way to contact this specific provider following the visit to request this test be added, because she was only associated with virtual visits, not a brick and mortar location. I was only given the option to schedule a separate visit with another provider (at full cost). I’ve checked with my physician’s office and the my are no longer administering the flu test The lack of follow up methods and rigid protocols at the urgent care facility have been difficult to navigate. I had no idea that I would have an easier time getting a COVID test than an influenza test during flu season.

- Verified patient on 11/22

I scheduled My family for a covid test virtual visit. The provider that called for my appointment was able to cover all of my family members on one call. About 10 minutes later I recieved a call saying I missed my sons appointment. I explained The situation but I was Very impressed that I received A call about the missed appointment. I appreciate the call very much.

Atlanta COVID Testing & Rapid Testing

Types of COVID Tests

There are two types of coronavirus tests (COVID-19 tests) available, those that can test for a current infection (viral test) and those that can test for a past infection (antibody test).

Viral COVID testing can be done in a few different ways, the most common being nose swabs, but saliva tests are becoming more popular. Some tests are processed out on-site and can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. These are called rapid COVID tests. The majority of tests, on the other hand, are collected at the clinic on-site and then submitted to off-site labs for processing. Results can take up to 2-3 days to arrive.

Antibody testing looks for a past infection and may not reveal if you have an active COVID-19 infection because antibodies can take up to three weeks to form in your body. The presence of COVID antibodies may help to prevent you from becoming infected with the same virus again; but, because the clinical understanding of COVID-19 is still developing, it's unclear how long that protection will continue.

Who should get tested for current infection

The CDC currently defines four instances where COVID testing is recommended:

  1. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. If you have been vaccinated, or tested positive in the past 3 months and not experiencing symptoms, you do not need to be tested.
  3. If you are unvaccinated and participated in high-risk activities where distancing is not an option. This could include travel, large social or mass gatherings, crowded indoor settings, etc.
  4. If you have been referred to get a COVID test by your healthcare provider or local health department.

How is testing done for COVID-19?

Most COVID tests are collected by a nasal swab. A member of the medical team puts a swab inside your nose for a few seconds on each side to collect the sample. After that, the samples are packaged according to CDC guidelines and tested on-site or transported to a facility for testing. The lab will test samples for the presence of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID infection and either your care provider or the lab will notify you with the results as soon as they are available.

PCR vs Antigen Testing

Viral COVID tests are available as molecular and antigen tests. The molecular test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, usually delivers results within a few days since most of these tests are sent to offsite labs for analysis. The average turnaround time for PCR test results is 48 hours, but in some instances may be significantly longer due to backlogs related to insufficient lab volume and capacity. Antigen tests are also known as rapid tests and have an average turnaround time of between 15 to 30 minutes.

Both PCR and rapid COVID tests can be used to test people exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, those who were close contacts to COVID-19, and those without COVID-19 symptoms who live or work in a high-risk setting (such as a nursing facility); or those individuals who are identified as part of outbreak detection and response. The rapid COVID test is also recommended for the screening of residents or healthcare workers at skilled nursing facilities along with a PCR confirmation, and for repeat screening for the early detection and prevention of outbreaks in congregate settings (such as schools, workplaces, and prisons).

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. To reduce the risk of facing extra costs related to COVID testing, ask your primary care doctor to recommend a free COVID test site, and confirm there are no charges or fees for the test that are not covered by your insurance plan. Additionally, avoid getting a COVID test at a hospital or free-standing emergency room, as these facilities may charge fees for COVID testing and related services.

COVID-19 Testing FAQs

  • How much does COVID testing cost in Atlanta?

In many cases, COVID testing can be free. Many state and local health departments continue to offer free testing to community residents as part of their response to the pandemic. In other cases, commercially insured patients, or those on Medicare or Medicaid, may receive testing at no out of pocket cost, or with a nominal office visit copay. For cash paying patients, or those that need rapid COVID testing which will deliver results in under an hour, COVID tests can range from $50 to $150 each. It is best to call your healthcare provider prior to getting tested to better understand the cost of the specific test you require.

  • Where can I get free COVID testing in Atlanta?

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. Check with your Atlanta-area health department as they are generally a good source for free COVID tests, or can at least point you in the right direction. Additionally, you can ask your primary care provider to recommend a free COVID test site.

  • Where can I get COVID testing in Atlanta?

COVID testing is available at many outlets near Atlanta including urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care offices, health departments, and more. Different venues will have different types of tests available, many at different price points. Some testing sites are allowing walk-in patients, however, many are still requiring some degree of advance booking to control patient volume.

  • Where can I get a rapid COVID test in Atlanta?

Rapid testing—both PCR (molecular) and antigen tests—is offered through many Atlanta-area urgent care centers and physician offices, usually at an additional cost ranging from $50 up to $150 per test. Usually this will allow you to get results back in under an hour, and require advanced booking through the provider. However, if you can wait 24 hours for your results, many labs are turning around send-out lab tests in that time frame, which could save you some money.

  • How to make an appointment for COVID testing in Atlanta?

Same-day and next day appointments for COVID testing in Atlanta are bookable directly through Solv. Simply browse the list of healthcare providers conducting COVID tests above, find one with a “Book Online” button, and book a time that aligns with your schedule stating “COVID-19 Test” as your reason for visit.

  • Can I get tested for antibodies if I am sick with COVID-19 Atlanta?

An antibody test for COVID-19 might inform you if you previously had a coronavirus infection. Because it can take between 1–3 weeks after an infection for your body to develop these antibodies, an antibody test during an active infection would not be successful. To see if you are currently infected, you need a viral test.

  • Do I need a COVID test if I have been vaccinated?

Even if you have been fully vaccinated, if you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, experts believe that you should be tested yourself, particularly if you are experiencing cold and flu symptoms commonly aligned with the coronavirus.

  • How long does COVID testing take?

Getting a COVID test is quick. Most tests are done with a nasal swab, which takes less than a minute to swab both nostrils. Depending on where you get your COVID test, this means you could be in and out of the testing site in as little as 10-15 minutes. During busy times—particularly around holidays—testing sites may be busier than usual and wait times may be longer.

  • How long does it take to get COVID test results in Atlanta?

Most labs are returning send-out molecular (PCR) COVID test results within 24-48 hours of the test. Some sites take longer, so call and ask if the reason for the test is proof for travel. Rapid COVID tests are processed on-site and are able to deliver results in under an hour, sometimes in as little as 15 min.

  • Do COVID tests detect the Delta variant and Omicron variant?

Regular COVID tests are able to detect both the Delta variant and Omicron variant in that they can determine whether or not you have the coronavirus. However, they can't tell which variation is involved. That would necessitate genomic sequencing, which is a different process from regular virus testing that not all labs can undertake. Sequencing is uncommon and can cost up to $100 per test. Since the treatment is the same for any variant, it is not clinically useful to an individual patient to know whether the infection was caused by a variant or not.
