I came in for what I thought was a stomach bug but had other symptoms. The doctor did not confirm or come back after seeing me. I hoped he would confirm and tell me the following steps if I did not improve.

I called last night before they closed and scheduled an appointment, got in within 10 minutes of arrival.  I was there for longer than expected, 10a appt left at 11:48p. Kinda slow doctor. Nice guy, glad I’m. Self Advocate is my last comment. This Access Med Center beats the one SJH ownes hands down. I definitely would recommend this urgent care.

I made an appt. To be seen. The wait time was unacceptable! Isn’t the whole purpose of an appt is to be seen at the time given? Walk ins should never take precedence over appts. The first come first served basis, should apply to walk ins only. I believe those with appts. Should get in at their appt time and others wait as time permits.  1 & 1/2 hr to wait is ridiculous.

Great experience at the urgent care today. Madi at the front desk was super friendly and helpful. I was roomed right away and tests running. Nurse Amy was friendly and professional. Nurse Heather went above and beyond to come let me know that it had started to rain because she knew I had ridden a scooter to the clinic. The provider Amy was fast, friendly, and efficient. Overall a great experience. Would get sick again. 10/10.

Fast, courteous, answered all my questions over the phone, with empathy and understanding, which is very important to me considering I'm a RMA. No unnecessary questioning or wasting of my time. Everyone was great and I greatly appreciate that. Front desk guy you rock, all triage in back office y'all are on point, and the APRN thank you for understanding my situation and helping me. Y'all made me cry, because being in this field today is a true rarity to come across a full clinic staff that rock like y'all did. THANK YOU!!!!

Recent COVID-19 Testing Reviews (20)

I went to access medical in Owasso Oklahoma for a minor situation. An x-ray was taking and a Covid test. Because they thought I had pneumonia. I needed a CT scan so they sent me to the hospital to find out. no Covid and no pneumonia. But they did fine a large chest mass. I’m thankful four access medical takingX-ray and getting me to go for more testing. If I hadn’t gone to them I wouldn’t even have known that I have a serious problem. Thank you access medical!

So I was there for two hours for them to see 3 sick people in front of me. Once the staff brought me into the back I was covid tested and put in a room. Another 30 minutes later the doctor comes in, asks the bar minimum questions, listens to my lungs and heart them proceeds to inform me he already ordered my prescriptions and to have a good day. HOW THE FUCK DOES A DOCTOR DIAGNOSE ME BEFORE HE SEES ME.

- Verified patient on 6/25

The care is good. But, I don't agree with the note to go back to work on. It states the date to return but he wrote if all criteria has been met below which describe covid 10 obligations. It would be confusing to an employer on what to do because it was confusing to me. I had an upper respiratory infection. At my place of work it sounds like this P.A. is trying to quarantine me. I feel they just wanted to get an additional covid test with my insurance. The note should have only printed the day seen and can return to work statement, not the 3 paragraphs talking about if you have covid if you were tested and quarantine subject that is all unnecessary. I'm not showing the note to my employer because he might think as it reads all about quarantine 10 days. I cant afford that without pay.

Arrived for a rapid Covid test that was for two scheduled appointments they were very busy which is understandable but we were more or less forgotten then the staff that came out to take the test was very rude and inconsiderate and unprofessional her name was America I was able to address this with the PA I have been a patient for years with quick urgent care today was the first time that I felt the disappointment that I felt we are in a pandemic and this staff did not seem compliant to change gloves without being requested to do so then got an attitude regarding it I was very polite and asked for my own health and the health of my family and friends as well as her health and the response I got was unacceptable when she told me that me and my co-worker were in the same vehicle for our Covid test which was her excuse for not changing her gloves before she was asked if she would be I told her that does not matter we are both patients I again was told sternly same vehicle when I asked for her name she gave it in a rude manner and then asked me my name which she already knew ha ha at least I was hoping so she just did my Covid test then went directly to do my coworkers Covid test I am still upset about this visit today publicly provided should I do I

- Verified patient on 12/28

Front staff receptionist was amazing, extremely kind and helpful. The person who took my BP was also extremely kind. Person who did my covid test made a comment that I did not appreciate and he 100% hurt me on that test it wasnt gentle at all. Ive had plenty of covid tests bc i have been around/ exposed to people who tested positive and those tests were uncomfortable but definitely tolerable. There was no care at all in this test and it genuinely felt like it went too far back unnecessarily and lasted longer than normal. I also waited almost 30 min for a rapid result that takes 10-15 min to read.

- Verified patient on 4/4

Ok but can not get anyone to call me on my covid test results it has been over 7 days

- Verified patient on 6/19

Disappointed. I went in for bronchitis and my ears, nose and throat were NOT examined. I was given steroids and antibiotics and a COVID test. I am still waiting on the results after 2 weeks. I won’t be back.

- Verified patient on 12/20

A little upset that all they wanted to do was take a covid test. There are other illnesses other than covid. Little frustrating for sick people. If I have to go back to the dr after my negative test I’ll be very upset.

- Verified patient on 10/8

I usually come here for something minor. The nurse did a wonderful job of asking some questions and getting me in. The provider was friendly, however she never asked any questions or performed a full exam. She just listed to my chest and looked at my throat. Again no questions were asked about my symptoms. I was also prescribed meds but was told not to full the script unless I felt worse ina couple of days. I found that kind of odd considering there was nothing else mentioned from the provider during the visit. Wasn’t the worst service but definitely under par. I did not feel as if I was medically assessed by the provider as I should have been considering I had been sick for several day prior and the COVID test was negative . I will most likely return but would appreciate more communication from the provider to understand fully what is going on with my health

- Verified patient on 2/16

Came in feeling very bad, getting a covid test, tested positive, the staff was wonderful and I left feeling relieved. Made me feel good to know my lungs are still sounding healthy and I should be better soon.

Got right in fir a rapid covid test ! Everyone was so nice !

- Verified patient on 11/2

Quick and easy covid test.

- Verified patient on 10/31

Well it was fine. I explained my issues to the nice young lady who came to see me. She automatically assumed I needed a Covid test. I explained to her I am not taking one. I then tried to explain to her why I didn’t want on amd that I did not have Covid. So then she said I am the one with the certificate. She then said “are you a doctor” she cut me off before I could give my full answer. So here it is. I have read and understand science and have talked to a number of doctors. I did not have Covid.

- Verified patient on 9/10

Covid test was needed so standing in line happened but the staff got us in as quick as humanly possible. Once in the staff was professional & quick (which was needed because of the long lines outside in the cool rainy weather)

- Verified patient on 11/24

Set an appointment online for COVID testing. Had to show 10 before and it was another 50 minutes past appointment time before I was seen. Thought it would be testing only. Was not informed, nor did I ask, that there had to be an office visit as well. The nurse and doctor were great. Especially the the nurse who performed the COVID test. 😊

- Verified patient on 11/12

The paramedic doing the Covid testing was great!

- Verified patient on 12/17

As long as they let me know results of covid test today I'll be happy

- Verified patient on 10/21

Picked a good time. Nobody in the waiting room. In and out. Rapid Covid test complete. Worked like clockwork.

- Verified patient on 5/12

Very organized in the Covid testing

- Verified patient on 11/13

I had an appointment for today 2:30 but didn’t get to a room until 3:10. Other than that, the staff and doctor were great. Very quick and to the point. The lady that did my CoVid test was very careful which I appreciated. I have always had good luck at Access.

Owasso COVID Testing & Rapid Testing

Types of COVID Tests

There are two types of coronavirus tests (COVID-19 tests) available, those that can test for a current infection (viral test) and those that can test for a past infection (antibody test).

Viral COVID testing can be done in a few different ways, the most common being nose swabs, but saliva tests are becoming more popular. Some tests are processed out on-site and can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. These are called rapid COVID tests. The majority of tests, on the other hand, are collected at the clinic on-site and then submitted to off-site labs for processing. Results can take up to 2-3 days to arrive.

Antibody testing looks for a past infection and may not reveal if you have an active COVID-19 infection because antibodies can take up to three weeks to form in your body. The presence of COVID antibodies may help to prevent you from becoming infected with the same virus again; but, because the clinical understanding of COVID-19 is still developing, it's unclear how long that protection will continue.

Who should get tested for current infection

The CDC currently defines four instances where COVID testing is recommended:

  1. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. If you have been vaccinated, or tested positive in the past 3 months and not experiencing symptoms, you do not need to be tested.
  3. If you are unvaccinated and participated in high-risk activities where distancing is not an option. This could include travel, large social or mass gatherings, crowded indoor settings, etc.
  4. If you have been referred to get a COVID test by your healthcare provider or local health department.

How is testing done for COVID-19?

Most COVID tests are collected by a nasal swab. A member of the medical team puts a swab inside your nose for a few seconds on each side to collect the sample. After that, the samples are packaged according to CDC guidelines and tested on-site or transported to a facility for testing. The lab will test samples for the presence of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID infection and either your care provider or the lab will notify you with the results as soon as they are available.

PCR vs Antigen Testing

Viral COVID tests are available as molecular and antigen tests. The molecular test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, usually delivers results within a few days since most of these tests are sent to offsite labs for analysis. The average turnaround time for PCR test results is 48 hours, but in some instances may be significantly longer due to backlogs related to insufficient lab volume and capacity. Antigen tests are also known as rapid tests and have an average turnaround time of between 15 to 30 minutes.

Both PCR and rapid COVID tests can be used to test people exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, those who were close contacts to COVID-19, and those without COVID-19 symptoms who live or work in a high-risk setting (such as a nursing facility); or those individuals who are identified as part of outbreak detection and response. The rapid COVID test is also recommended for the screening of residents or healthcare workers at skilled nursing facilities along with a PCR confirmation, and for repeat screening for the early detection and prevention of outbreaks in congregate settings (such as schools, workplaces, and prisons).

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. To reduce the risk of facing extra costs related to COVID testing, ask your primary care doctor to recommend a free COVID test site, and confirm there are no charges or fees for the test that are not covered by your insurance plan. Additionally, avoid getting a COVID test at a hospital or free-standing emergency room, as these facilities may charge fees for COVID testing and related services.

COVID-19 Testing FAQs

  • How much does COVID testing cost in Owasso?

In many cases, COVID testing can be free. Many state and local health departments continue to offer free testing to community residents as part of their response to the pandemic. In other cases, commercially insured patients, or those on Medicare or Medicaid, may receive testing at no out of pocket cost, or with a nominal office visit copay. For cash paying patients, or those that need rapid COVID testing which will deliver results in under an hour, COVID tests can range from $50 to $150 each. It is best to call your healthcare provider prior to getting tested to better understand the cost of the specific test you require.

To see if you are currently infected, you need a viral test.

  • How long does COVID testing take?

Getting a COVID test is quick. Most tests are done with a nasal swab, which takes less than a minute to swab both nostrils. Depending on where you get your COVID test, this means you could be in and out of the testing site in as little as 10-15 minutes. During busy times—particularly around holidays—testing sites may be busier than usual and wait times may be longer.

  • How long does it take to get COVID test results in Owasso?

Most labs are returning send-out molecular (PCR) COVID test results within 24-48 hours of the test. Some sites take longer, so call and ask if the reason for the test is proof for travel. Rapid COVID tests are processed on-site and are able to deliver results in under an hour, sometimes in as little as 15 min.

  • Do COVID tests detect the Delta variant and Omicron variant?

Regular COVID tests are able to detect both the Delta variant and Omicron variant in that they can determine whether or not you have the coronavirus. However, they can't tell which variation is involved. That would necessitate genomic sequencing, which is a different process from regular virus testing that not all labs can undertake. Sequencing is uncommon and can cost up to $100 per test. Since the treatment is the same for any variant, it is not clinically useful to an individual patient to know whether the infection was caused by a variant or not.
