About
About Allina Health
Allina Health is a nonprofit health care system headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with more than 140 years of history serving communities in Minnesota and western Wisconsin. The organization emerged in its current form in 1993 when HealthSpan and Medica merged to create Allina Health System. In 2001, the integrated model was restructured, separating the health plan business into the independent Medica organization while the care delivery side continued as Allina Hospitals and Clinics. The system today operates twelve hospital campuses, more than 60 primary care clinics, approximately 20 same-day and urgent care centers, and over 100 specialty care sites. Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis is the flagship facility. In March 2026, Allina Health announced it was being acquired by Sutter Health, a California-based nonprofit.
