About
About CityMD Urgent Care
CityMD was established as an urban urgent care operator focused on New York City, growing into one of the dominant walk-in care brands in the metropolitan area. In 2017, Warburg Pincus acquired the company. In 2019, CityMD merged with Summit Medical Group to form Summit Health-CityMD, with a presence across New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Oregon. In January 2023, VillageMD completed an 8.9 billion dollar acquisition of Summit Health-CityMD, creating one of the largest independent provider groups in the United States. Cigna subsidiary Evernorth also made an equity investment. CityMD clinics continue to operate under that brand name within the VillageMD and Walgreens Health ecosystem. CityMD walk-in centers are concentrated in densely populated urban and suburban markets in the Northeast.
