Friendly Staff

AFC Urgent Care, Southpoint - 6400 Fayetteville Rd
Came in to the urgent care with an online appointment scheduled. I have been here several times. I have insurance, which was verified by the office, but the front desk girl said I was required to have a credit card on file but couldn’t tell me why. She did say it would be on file in your system for FIVE years. Not only does that seem to be a crazy ask with verified insurance, she could explain why the card was needed or why it would be on file for years. Makes me question things for sure…. The provider was great but first impression needs improvement.

Great discreet service, scheduled my visit and paid for for the test online not in Showed up at lab, checked in and was seen within minutes. Blood and urine were collected, test results came back quickly within 2 days because I did my test on a Friday. Quick, easy and cheap. Didn't have to wait for a visit to my PCP, and then get referral to lab.

Sanford Chlamydia Testing

Who should get tested for chlamydia?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for chlamydia, especially those with multiple partners or those who do not consistently use barrier methods of protection during sexual activity. The CDC recommends annual chlamydia screening for all sexually active women under 25 years old, as well as for older women with risk factors such as new or multiple sex partners. Men who have sex with men should also be screened at least annually.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for chlamydia is crucial as it is often asymptomatic, meaning it does not always present noticeable symptoms. This can lead to unknowingly spreading the infection to others and potential long-term health complications if left untreated, including pelvic inflammatory disease in women and epididymitis in men, both of which can result in infertility. Early detection through testing allows for prompt treatment, typically a simple course of antibiotics, that can prevent these complications.

Chlamydia testing options in Sanford, NC:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care centers and walk-in clinics provide convenient, same-day testing for chlamydia. AFC Urgent Care in Fuquay-Varina, NC, and NextCare Urgent Care in Cary, NC, are two highly rated locations nearby Sanford. You can book same-day and next-day appointments at each of these locations through Solv’s website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers are another reliable source for chlamydia testing. Regular check-ups with a primary care provider often include STI screenings, and if not, you can request one.

Free STD testing and community health centers

Community health centers often offer free or low-cost STD testing. These centers provide an essential service, particularly for uninsured or underinsured individuals.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits are another option for chlamydia screening. These kits can be ordered online, used in the privacy of your own home, and then mailed to a lab for analysis.

Prevalence of chlamydia in Sanford

Sanford, located in Chatham County, NC, has seen a rise in chlamydia cases over recent years, mirroring national trends. The rate of chlamydia infections in Chatham County is lower than in some nearby counties, such as Raleigh and Fayette, but higher than others like Augusta and Forsyth. Regular testing and safe sex practices are crucial in reducing the spread of chlamydia in the Sanford community.

Risk factors related to chlamydia in Sanford

Risk factors for chlamydia infection include being sexually active, having multiple sexual partners, inconsistent use of barrier methods during sexual activity, and being under 25 years old. Socioeconomic factors, such as lack of access to healthcare and education, can also contribute to higher rates of chlamydia.

Other STDs in Sanford

In addition to chlamydia, other STDs such as gonorrhea, HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis are also present in Sanford. Gonorrhea rates, in particular, have been on the rise, and co-infection with chlamydia is common. Regular testing for all STDs is recommended for sexually active individuals. Testing locations in the Sanford area, such as AFC Urgent Care and NextCare Urgent Care, offer comprehensive STD screenings.
