Urgent care
The receptionist was friendly and the wait time short but my first and last experience with Mary Paradis. She had no time to ask me any questions, barely gave me an exam and stayed by the door the majority of our 5 minute interaction. If she would have let me explain my chronic condition that I’ve had due to my birth defect maybe she wouldn’t have spent so much time trying to school me on ways to avoid a sinus infection. I appreciate getting the steroids and antibiotics but the way she treated me was horrible and I would rather wait hours at the ER than have to deal with this provider. I will add I just moved her so I hope this wasn’t a representation of the medical care in Redding.

Urgent care in Redding, CA

Redding is Northern California's largest inland city and serves as a regional healthcare hub for Shasta, Trinity, and Siskiyou counties. For non-emergency needs—infections, injuries, and illness—urgent care clinics offer same-day appointments without the wait times of a hospital emergency room. Urgent care in Sacramento is roughly 160 miles south, making local access essential for Redding residents.

What services do urgent care clinics in Redding offer?

Urgent care clinics in Redding treat a wide range of conditions, including respiratory infections, lacerations, sprains, urinary tract infections, and seasonal allergies. Dignity Health's Mercy Medical Center operates outpatient and walk-in services across the Redding area, and Shasta Regional Medical Center also supports the local urgent care network.2 Most clinics offer on-site X-rays, lab work, and occupational health services for the region's manufacturing and outdoor workforce.

Does urgent care in Redding accept Medi-Cal?

Yes. Many urgent care clinics in Redding accept Medi-Cal, California's Medicaid program administered by the Department of Health Care Services.1 Shasta County has a notable uninsured and publicly insured population, and several clinics in the region are designed to serve patients across all insurance types. Confirm Medi-Cal participation directly when booking, as acceptance varies by provider.3

How does Redding urgent care relate to Sacramento?

Redding sits approximately 160 miles north of Sacramento—roughly a 2.5-hour drive—making it functionally independent from any major metro area. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Redding has a population of approximately 93,000 residents,4 and it serves as the primary healthcare access point for a surrounding rural region with limited clinical options. Residents of communities like Anderson, Shasta Lake, and Cottonwood rely on Redding's urgent care network for timely care. For specialty and complex care, patients often travel south to Sacramento.
