CHRISTUS Health is an international Catholic nonprofit health system headquartered in Irving, Texas, formed on January 28, 1999, through the merger of the Sisters of Charity Health Care System of Houston and the Incarnate Word Health System of San Antonio. Its institutional lineage extends to 1866, when the Sisters of Charity founded St. Mary Hospital in Galveston, among the oldest health care institutions in Texas. CHRISTUS operates more than 600 care centers including hospitals, clinics, and urgent care facilities across Texas, Louisiana, and New Mexico in the United States, and maintains a substantial international presence in Chile and Mexico. The system is among the ten largest Catholic health systems in the United States.
