Urgent care
I have Medicare and Humana Medicaid and yet this company bill me and charged my credit card $219. I’ve been trying to have Priva bill the insurance for a month. Also to refund my credit card. I get the same bs story they act like I haven’t called five times already. They say we’ll bill the insurance and refund your card. But never do. I will start a blog, because I’m over getting ripped of by Priva.

Recent Urgent Care Reviews (20)

Crucial Care is my go-to for urgent care needs. The staff is friendly, professional, and thorough. The facility is clean and well-equipped.

I have been using restore urgent care for the past 4 years, regarding any medical issues I have had. The staff is incredible, starting at the front desk where Nicole does a phenomenal job, dealing with all the patients. She is extremely friendly and professional. Next is Trish, who is the best Nurse Practitioner I have ever met. She always makes the proper diagnosis, and prescribes what ever is necessary to cure my ailments. Recently, I’ve had the pleasure of being treated and helped by Yasmina, who is an outstanding Physicians Assistant. There is one problem I’ve noticed in recent visits. The staff is overwhelmed with the amount of patients coming in. I realize when Covid-19 broke out, people were reluctant to visit a hospital or any medical facility. Little by little people started visiting these facilities, because they needed care. Most were making appointments, and felt comfortable coming in to Urgent Care, especially, with the sanitizing of the facility, masks required, and terrific spacing of the chairs in the waiting room. Now, that more and more patients are coming in for care, in my opinion, changes have to be made to accommodate everyone. I suggest that more staff be hired. You need more than one NP and one PA on duty at all times. Currently, patients can make an appointment, but with all the walk in traffic, it is virtually impossible to handle the work load. Thank you for reading this survey.

Hands down best urgent care in town. Not only does the attending nurse and physician care so does the entire staff. They come by checking in on you during the visit and two other staff on our way out told my daughter they hope she felt better. We always choose crucial care unless they are closed .

I have only had to use this facility maybe 4 times since moving here 14yrars ago. Thank goodness I wasn't sick very often and you could call your family doctor to get an appointment. Well those days are gone. I was scheduled to go to yulee late afternoon for my covid vaccine but had had a terrible headache, diarrhea, but no fever. Kept calling the Millennium group to ask if I could still get my vaccine and I didn't hear back until after my time for shot. When they finally called back they said to go to urgent care on 8th street so I called and got an appointment for 5:15 which was marvelous. It was just like I remembered, wonderful doctor, extremely clean. And front office girls were extremely friendly. I missed out on getting my vaccine but I got tested for covid and it was negative thank goodness. I will definitely return to this facility.

Came here for a foot fracture on a Saturday. I’m a physician and knew I would get care from well trained ER physicians here whereas most urgent care centers are staffed by PAs or nurse practitioners with varying degrees of training/experience and have had many suboptimal experiences with physician extenders in the past. I received efficient, high quality care including radiology services. My wife had seen Dr Consentino previously and she was great as was the nurse Devin who checked me in and multiple other staff members (radiology tech, different nurse who checked me out, waiting room staff). I love the billing transparency (they gave me an accurate estimate by phone when I called beforehand to ensure they had radiology services) and there’s basically a “menu” with prices out front and outlines what services are included. Very clean. The broken American health care system would be much better if all facilities operated like this.

I’m from out of town and needed to be seen. I searched for an Urgent Care based on previous reviews. I walked in and I knew I was in good hands. If you need care I highly, highly recommend Crucial Care.

Great place for Urgent care treatment. Staff was friendly and helpful. They X-rayed and confirmed a broken foot. Sent me home with crutches and a follow up call from an orthopedic surgeon. Very convenient and close to home. I highly recommend this place verses an emergency room.

GuideWell is a new urgent care facility in the area, but make no mistake they are on a different level than any other urgent care I’ve been to before. They far exceeded my expectations. From the cleanliness of the facility to the check in process, to the large board on the lobby with a list of prices for different services ( which they provide an extensive list of services and testing) to the wait time to receive medical care it was just easy and not frustrating. The entire staff is very professional and friendly. Everyone introduced themselves by their name and the nurses and PCCs that took care of me were simply awesome. Everything was explained in detail and they checked on me regularly. Their bedside manner is such a welcome change from many places these days. Dr. Tulsiak was very patient, caring and compassionate. Thank you to all that helped in my care from the girls at the front desk to the Radiologist to Stephanie, Charla, Wayne, and Josh. If I have a need to receive medical care in the future I will definitely come back to GuideWell vs a busy hospital ER.

I have used many other urgent care’s in my local area over the years and refuse to go back to any one of them. I am a critical care nurse I was referred by a nurse and my experience was wonderful. Everyone was friendly, helpful and professional but in a very warm caring way. I will continue to use this facility and refer everyone I know there. The Nurse Practitioner Mary was phenomenal! I would love to have her as a primary. As a nurse I am more critical of healthcare providers and this clinic exceeded all my expectations and I was so very pleasantly surprised. We all know the turn health care has taken secondary to insurance companies interference and manipulation of the system but some how this clinic provides 5 star service and actually care about the patient. The women at the reception desk were so patient walking me thru the sign in registration and the kindness continued with every person I came in contact with during my appointment. I can’t recommend them highly enough. That is where I will go, where I will send my husband, son and anyone I care for.

Crucial care is my go to team when I need urgent care

- Verified patient on 7/21

This is the 3rd time I have been to this urgent care and the care just keeps getting better. Everyone from the time I checked in until the time I left provided exceptional care. The front desk staff was kind and professional, the X-ray technician was super nice and took excellent care of me. The nurse who triaged me was exceptional and the nurse practitioner was awesome with his level of care. Sucks feeling bad but these folks did the very best they could to make the situation as pleasant as possible.

Very Nice place from the front desk to the exam room, all the staff and doctors were Very nice and although I had to wait a bit, that was only due to waiting on test results. They made sure I was comfortable and checked on me often. I would reccomend this place to anyone in need of urgent care as they have all the equipment for imaging and an in house lab.

I’ve been here twice this year and both times I’ve been seen quickly (within fifteen minutes). For urgent care this is exceptional. The staff is always warm, concerned and professional.

Bridgette was amazing. Very patience and kind. She answered every questions we had. We didn't feel rushed at all. Sheila, Riley, Christian, Cassandra, Susan, Heather, and LaDonna were all so awesome! Thank you everyone. Best urgent care out there.

- Verified patient on 3/15

This was the absolute best urgent care visit ever! All of the staff were friendly and so very helpful. RN Danny made my son and I so comfortable and walked us through each step of the process today. Thank you all very much for a positive experience.

I am always impressed by the efficiency, professionalism and quality of care I receive here. Plus everyone is so friendly and helpful. I have an urgent care type center much closer to my home but I choose to drive past it to go to Crucial Care. Bridget was extremely helpful and even recommended a therapy i could do myself at home that was so helpful. Thank you Bridget!❤

This was my first time here, but if I need urgent care again this is definitely where I will go. The doctor and staff were friendly, professional, and extremely caring. The exam room was very clean and no wait time.

Best urgent care in Jax!

- Verified patient on 10/25

Wait time was terrible, BUT they were extremely busy and definitely not the fault of the facility. Reception and nurses were courteous despite a stressful load and Doctor listened and was attentive to my existing condition that caused my visit today as well at previous treatments and what had worked best. In 10 years of dealing with this, that's only happened with 3 doctors. We are in process of moving to the area and this will be our preferred urgent care.

Urgent Care in Jacksonville, FL

Jacksonville holds an unusual distinction: at approximately 874 square miles, it is the largest city by land area in the contiguous United States. That geographic scale — the result of a 1968 city-county consolidation that merged Jacksonville with Duval County — defines how residents experience healthcare. Combined with Florida's decision not to expand Medicaid and an adult uninsured rate of 15.5%, urgent care centers distributed across Jacksonville's vast footprint are a critical access point for hundreds of thousands of residents.

What conditions do Jacksonville urgent care centers treat?

Urgent care centers in Jacksonville treat a wide range of non-emergency conditions: respiratory infections, sinus and ear infections, strep throat, flu, COVID-19, UTIs, sprains and strains, cuts requiring stitches, minor burns, rashes, and allergic reactions. Most locations offer on-site X-ray, lab testing, and same-day prescription writing.

CareSpot — a Jacksonville-founded urgent care chain — operates an extensive network across Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia, making it one of the largest regional urgent care presences in the area. Baptist Urgent Care, part of Jacksonville's Baptist Health system, provides additional coverage across the metro. NextCare, AFC Urgent Care, and Concentra also operate multiple locations throughout Duval County. Most accept walk-ins and can be booked online through Solv.

Florida Medicaid, coverage gaps, and urgent care access in Jacksonville

Florida has not expanded Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act. In non-expansion states, the adult uninsured rate is 14.5% — nearly twice the 8.0% rate in expansion states. In Florida, the uninsured rate for adults ages 19-64 stands at 15.5%, well above the U.S. average of 11.3%. In Duval County, approximately 86,274 adults — about 14.2% of the 19-65 age group — are uninsured.

Florida's Medicaid program serves children, pregnant women, and qualifying families through managed care organizations including Florida Blue, Molina Healthcare, and Simply Healthcare. UF Health Jacksonville, the area's major academic medical center and safety-net hospital, is one of Florida's largest Medicaid and charity care providers. Most urgent care centers in Jacksonville accept Florida Medicaid, including CareSpot, Baptist Urgent Care, and other major chains across the metro.

For uninsured Jacksonville residents, urgent care centers with self-pay pricing offer a far more accessible and affordable option than hospital emergency departments. The city launched its "Get Covered Jax!" campaign to connect residents with coverage options — including ACA marketplace plans and Medicaid for eligible families — and reduced the uninsured count by 34%. Despite that progress, significant gaps remain.

Navigating urgent care across Jacksonville's 874 square miles

Jacksonville's size means its communities are genuinely spread out. The Westside, Northside, Arlington, Southside, and Beaches communities each occupy distinct geographic corridors, and a resident on the Westside near the Orange Park border may be 30 minutes or more from Downtown or South Jacksonville facilities. Outer communities along Lem Turner Road, on the Northside, or in the Cecil Commerce Center area west of the airport have historically had fewer healthcare resources relative to the city's denser core.

Urgent care centers with locations distributed across the metro — particularly in Southside, the Beaches, Orange Park, and the I-95 corridor — allow residents to find same-day care close to home rather than driving to a hospital or specialist across the city. Real-time availability, current wait times, and same-day booking for Jacksonville urgent care centers are available on Solv.

Hurricane season and weather-related urgent care in Jacksonville

Jacksonville sits in the Northeast Florida hurricane zone. While the area's geography — roughly 25 miles inland from the Atlantic coast — offers some buffer compared to more exposed coastal cities, tropical storms and the outer bands of major hurricanes routinely bring heavy rain, flooding, and high winds to Duval County. Hurricane Irma made a direct impact on the Jacksonville area in 2017, causing record flooding along the St. Johns River.

Storm-related injuries commonly treated at urgent care centers include lacerations from debris, sprains and strains from falls on wet surfaces, wound infections from floodwater contamination, and respiratory symptoms from mold exposure in flood-damaged properties. Most of these conditions are appropriate for urgent care. For life-threatening injuries — major trauma from storm damage, chest pain, or breathing emergencies — call 911 and seek emergency care.

Jacksonville's summer heat and humidity (June through September) also drive urgent care visits for heat exhaustion: heavy sweating, weakness, and nausea are treatable at urgent care. For heat stroke — body temperature above 103°F with confusion or loss of consciousness — call 911.

Emergency room or urgent care in Jacksonville — how do you decide?

Call 911 or go to an emergency room for chest pain, signs of stroke (sudden facial drooping, arm weakness, slurred speech), difficulty breathing, major trauma, severe abdominal pain, or any life-threatening emergency. Jacksonville's major emergency and trauma facilities include UF Health Jacksonville, Mayo Clinic Florida, Ascension St. Vincent's Riverside, and Baptist Medical Center. Average ER wait times at Jacksonville's major hospitals range from 3.1 to 3.3 hours.

For conditions that are uncomfortable or concerning but not emergencies — infections, minor injuries, sprains, rashes, or respiratory illness — urgent care is faster, lower cost, and appropriate. Most Jacksonville urgent care centers see patients in under an hour and can handle X-rays, labs, and prescriptions on-site.

Urgent Care FAQs

  • Does urgent care in Jacksonville accept Florida Medicaid?

Yes. Most urgent care centers in Jacksonville accept Florida Medicaid. Florida's Medicaid program serves children, pregnant women, and qualifying families through managed care organizations. Major Jacksonville urgent care chains including CareSpot and Baptist Urgent Care accept Medicaid at most locations. You can confirm Medicaid acceptance for any specific clinic when booking through Solv.
  • What does Florida's Medicaid coverage gap mean for Jacksonville residents?

Florida has not expanded Medicaid, which means many working adults without dependent children don't qualify — regardless of income. This creates a coverage gap: too high-income for Medicaid, too low-income for marketplace plans. In Florida, 15.5% of adults ages 19-64 are uninsured — well above the national average of 11.3%. In Duval County, roughly 86,000 adults are uninsured. Urgent care centers with transparent self-pay pricing are often the most accessible option for these residents.
  • How long is the wait at urgent care vs. an ER in Jacksonville?

Jacksonville's major hospital emergency departments average between 3.1 and 3.3 hours: UF Health Jacksonville averages approximately 3.3 hours, Mayo Clinic Florida approximately 3.3 hours, and Ascension St. Vincent's Riverside approximately 3.1 hours. Urgent care centers in Jacksonville typically see patients in under an hour for non-emergency conditions. For illnesses and minor injuries that don't require emergency care, urgent care is significantly faster and less costly.
  • What insurance do urgent care centers in Jacksonville accept?

Most Jacksonville urgent care centers accept Florida Medicaid, Florida Blue/BCBS, Aetna, United Healthcare, Cigna, Humana, and Tricare (for military families near NAS Jacksonville and Mayport). Self-pay patients are accepted at most locations with transparent cash-pay pricing. The area's major insurers — including Florida Blue, which has a significant regional presence — are widely accepted. Confirm your specific plan on the clinic's Solv listing before booking.
  • When should I go to an ER instead of urgent care in Jacksonville?

Call 911 or go to an ER for chest pain, signs of stroke (sudden facial drooping, arm weakness, slurred speech), difficulty breathing, major trauma, severe abdominal pain, or any life-threatening emergency. Jacksonville's major trauma and emergency facilities include UF Health Jacksonville, Mayo Clinic Florida, Ascension St. Vincent's, and Baptist Medical Center. During hurricane season, seek emergency care for major trauma, serious flooding injuries, or any life-threatening storm-related emergency.
  • Should I go to urgent care for hurricane or storm-related injuries?

Yes, for many storm-related conditions. Urgent care centers can treat lacerations from debris, sprains and strains from falls on wet surfaces, minor wound infections from floodwater exposure, and respiratory symptoms from mold or dust. These non-life-threatening injuries are appropriate for urgent care. For major trauma, chest pain, severe breathing difficulty, or life-threatening injuries from storm damage, call 911 immediately. After a storm, check Solv for open urgent care centers near you — hours may vary during and after major weather events.
