About WellStar Urgent Care
WellStar Health System is a nonprofit health organization headquartered in Marietta, Georgia, and the largest health system in the state. Its institutional history dates to 1950 with the founding of Kennestone Hospital, and the modern system took form in 1993 when Kennestone and five regional hospitals merged to create Northwest Georgia Health System, rebranded as WellStar Health System in 1998. WellStar expanded dramatically in 2016 through the 575 million dollar acquisition of five Tenet Healthcare hospitals and a simultaneous merger with West Georgia Health. The system currently operates 11 hospitals with nearly 2,800 licensed beds, along with medical offices, urgent care centers, cancer centers, rehabilitation facilities, and imaging centers spread across metropolitan Atlanta and surrounding Georgia communities.
