Urgent Care FAQs

  • How much will an urgent care visit in Lake City cost?

The price charged at an urgent care, whether in Lake City or elsewhere, will be based on the location, and there are no actual standard costs between the clinics. Assuming you are paying with cash, you might come across an urgent clinic that charges you $50 while another situated some mile away charges you $100 for the same services. The standard cost in urgent care where insurance cover is not involved ranges from $100 to $125. This price is generally the standard price of a visit before extra services. There are a couple of additional care services that could make your appointment to an urgent care costly including x-rays and lab tests, medications and injections (such as immunization), casting broken bones, as well as stitches and splints. If you have a viable insurance plan in place, the standard pay will be between $20 – 50 depending on your insurance coverage and whether you are in contact with the provider.

  • Are Lake City urgent care centers open after hours?

Most primary care doctor offices are open during routine work hours, Monday thru Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Conversely, most of the urgent care centers in Lake City are available after hours, on weekends, and many holidays. Typical urgent care hours are 8:00 am to 8:00 pm daily, although location-specific hours may vary.

  • Do urgent care centers in Lake City take appointments?

Historically, urgent care centers were strictly an on-demand, walk-in healthcare service mode. More recently, as consumer behaviors and expectations have evolved, many urgent care clinics have begun offering book ahead visits, allowing consumers to select a same-day or next-day time that works best for their schedule. Use Solv to find a Lake City urgent care center that offers advanced bookings (or appointments) and book online.

  • What is the best urgent care center in Lake City?

While it would be easy to provide a list of urgent care centers in and around Lake City, 'best' is a challenging term to qualify. With the list of locations above, use the filters provided to narrow the results to find the best urgent care for your needs.

  • What is urgent care?

Urgent care are available to assist patients that are looking for immediate, convenient medical care. In that manner, they are similar to an emergency room. The difference, however, is that ERs are meant to treat major, life-threatening injuries and illnesses while urgent care centers manage life’s minor bruises and bumps. In simple terms, an urgent care is seen as a walk-in health center that focuses in offering non-emergent health care conditions, including the treatment of the typical illnesses and injuries such as fractures and sprains, cuts and burns, scrapes, stings and bites, flu and cold symptoms, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, and much more. Most urgent care facilities offer both diagnostic and preventive care such as well visits, immunizations, STD testing and annual physicals. For regular visits and check-ups on these clinics, you should expect to pay between $20 and $100. The good thing is that most urgent care clinics will accept major PPOs and insurance cover, Medicare, as well as self-pay in the form of credit cards or cash. Urgent care clinics are located in most parts of the country in various regions to offset emergency room visits and provide a gap in healthcare services. They take patients during all hours of operations, which offer a significant convenience to most people who have and continue to undergo the need for sudden and immediate medical attention.

I am so glad I chose Baya Urgent Care for my 11 year old daughter. She slammed her thumb in our Jeep and her thumb turned black and blue immediately and swelled. They explained exactly what they had to do from the X-ray to the procedure they had to do to relieve the pressure under her nail. She was only in pain for 1 second. This was amazing and their bedside manner was excellent. I would definitely recommend Baya Urgent Care to anyone.

I would recommend to anyone to use Bays Urgent Care. The staff was very friendly, courteous, and efficient.

ALL of the staff was very professional, compassionate and saw me in a reasonable time. The lady (at the front desk that checked me in was especially very kind and helpful. I appreciate my care while at Baya Urgent Care this evening. Great job giving team care.

I broke my ankle Saturday afternoon. Finding in-network urgent care with x-ray capability on the weekend turned out to be a very complex task. Guidewell was a half hour away but was the only one that could help me. I'm glad I chose them and would make the trip again if I need urgent care in the future. The waiting room was clean, masks were required, staff was very friendly and compassionate, and my wait-time was less than 30 min (compared to 3-4 hours at other urgent cares). They did more to help me during that short visit (xrays, pain prescription, cast, and a referral!) than my primary care provider and orthopedic clinic did over the next 3 days combined. Thank you to the entire team at Ocoee Guidewell.

Fast & helpful!! I definitely recommend using baya urgent care.

Came here for a foot fracture on a Saturday. I’m a physician and knew I would get care from well trained ER physicians here whereas most urgent care centers are staffed by PAs or nurse practitioners with varying degrees of training/experience and have had many suboptimal experiences with physician extenders in the past. I received efficient, high quality care including radiology services. My wife had seen Dr Consentino previously and she was great as was the nurse Devin who checked me in and multiple other staff members (radiology tech, different nurse who checked me out, waiting room staff). I love the billing transparency (they gave me an accurate estimate by phone when I called beforehand to ensure they had radiology services) and there’s basically a “menu” with prices out front and outlines what services are included. Very clean. The broken American health care system would be much better if all facilities operated like this.

The wait time was bad. Put you in a room for 15-20 min, then move you to another room to wait 15-20 min. The staff nurses were not that friendly. Dr. Was very nice when I finally got to see him. They must have been understaffed. 2 hour wait total. Thought it was urgent care.

The doctor here is honestly amazing, he listens, cares and takes his time with his patients. After trying to find a good doctor I’m glad I finally found a great one. I had been to a few different doctors and I couldn’t find the right treatment for me. Instead of rushing me out he listened and now I’m finally getting my health back. He found the right treatment for me. One of the other great parts is they also offer cosmetic treatments here like Botox, so I can fix my health and feel more confident by a doctor I can trust! The staff was also very friendly and helpful. He is so knowledgeable that he even teaches students. I highly recommend lifetime family urgent care!

This was my first visit to Coastal Urgent Care as I'm usually seen by my primary care provider. However, my doctor could not get me in for a few days and as bad as I was feeling I could not wait for an appointment. I was really unsure of what to expect from a walk-in clinic. I was seen by Ms. Shannon Chambers, ARNP. She treated me with nothing but respect from the moment I met her. I could tell right away by how she listened to my concerns that she really cares about providing the best available care for her patients. The entire staff deserve kudos for all the hard work they put in each and every day. If I ever need to go to a walk-in clinic this is where I'll come in the future. I highly recommend Coastal Urgent Care for your medical needs.

After trying 4 other urgent cares with in the area, I accidentally ended up here. I didn’t know about it and it didn’t show up on Google. I was looking to get a vivid test because, as we know, there are none available for purchase anywhere in the area. ALL of the other places were busy yes but all were rude and unhelpful. I was greeted by three friendly and helpful people at the front desk. It was busy but I was assured that they would get to me as soon as they could. Everyone from intake to the nurse and physician were amazingly professional. More importantly, they were kind helpful and genuinely concerned for my welfare. I will definitely utilize this location again should the need arise.

My experience was awesome as always! Thank you the caring/personable staff, quick no-nonsense service, and ease of access.I recommend your urgent care facility to all of my friends.

I have used many other urgent care’s in my local area over the years and refuse to go back to any one of them. I am a critical care nurse I was referred by a nurse and my experience was wonderful. Everyone was friendly, helpful and professional but in a very warm caring way. I will continue to use this facility and refer everyone I know there. The Nurse Practitioner Mary was phenomenal! I would love to have her as a primary. As a nurse I am more critical of healthcare providers and this clinic exceeded all my expectations and I was so very pleasantly surprised. We all know the turn health care has taken secondary to insurance companies interference and manipulation of the system but some how this clinic provides 5 star service and actually care about the patient. The women at the reception desk were so patient walking me thru the sign in registration and the kindness continued with every person I came in contact with during my appointment. I can’t recommend them highly enough. That is where I will go, where I will send my husband, son and anyone I care for.

Every time I’ve used Baya Urgent Care I’ve been impressed with the speed of service.

I have only had to use this facility maybe 4 times since moving here 14yrars ago. Thank goodness I wasn't sick very often and you could call your family doctor to get an appointment. Well those days are gone. I was scheduled to go to yulee late afternoon for my covid vaccine but had had a terrible headache, diarrhea, but no fever. Kept calling the Millennium group to ask if I could still get my vaccine and I didn't hear back until after my time for shot. When they finally called back they said to go to urgent care on 8th street so I called and got an appointment for 5:15 which was marvelous. It was just like I remembered, wonderful doctor, extremely clean. And front office girls were extremely friendly. I missed out on getting my vaccine but I got tested for covid and it was negative thank goodness. I will definitely return to this facility.

GuideWell is a new urgent care facility in the area, but make no mistake they are on a different level than any other urgent care I’ve been to before. They far exceeded my expectations. From the cleanliness of the facility to the check in process, to the large board on the lobby with a list of prices for different services ( which they provide an extensive list of services and testing) to the wait time to receive medical care it was just easy and not frustrating. The entire staff is very professional and friendly. Everyone introduced themselves by their name and the nurses and PCCs that took care of me were simply awesome. Everything was explained in detail and they checked on me regularly. Their bedside manner is such a welcome change from many places these days. Dr. Tulsiak was very patient, caring and compassionate. Thank you to all that helped in my care from the girls at the front desk to the Radiologist to Stephanie, Charla, Wayne, and Josh. If I have a need to receive medical care in the future I will definitely come back to GuideWell vs a busy hospital ER.

I have been using restore urgent care for the past 4 years, regarding any medical issues I have had. The staff is incredible, starting at the front desk where Nicole does a phenomenal job, dealing with all the patients. She is extremely friendly and professional. Next is Trish, who is the best Nurse Practitioner I have ever met. She always makes the proper diagnosis, and prescribes what ever is necessary to cure my ailments. Recently, I’ve had the pleasure of being treated and helped by Yasmina, who is an outstanding Physicians Assistant. There is one problem I’ve noticed in recent visits. The staff is overwhelmed with the amount of patients coming in. I realize when Covid-19 broke out, people were reluctant to visit a hospital or any medical facility. Little by little people started visiting these facilities, because they needed care. Most were making appointments, and felt comfortable coming in to Urgent Care, especially, with the sanitizing of the facility, masks required, and terrific spacing of the chairs in the waiting room. Now, that more and more patients are coming in for care, in my opinion, changes have to be made to accommodate everyone. I suggest that more staff be hired. You need more than one NP and one PA on duty at all times. Currently, patients can make an appointment, but with all the walk in traffic, it is virtually impossible to handle the work load. Thank you for reading this survey.

Best urgent care I have ever visited! The receptionist, nurse and physician assistant were all very caring, attentive, and professional. I stopped there after cutting my finger on my way back home to Tallahassee from St. Augustine. PA Otero was caring and gentle - he stitched me up and got me on my way home in under an hour!! I would have sat in an urgent care in Tallahassee for hours! I highly recommend this establishment. I only wish I lived closer. Thanks to all of you for taking great care of me!

Getting Urgent Care in Lake City, FL

Urgent care in Lake City is your best option for non-life threatening, quality medical care when you need it. Many urgent care centers in Lake City offer walk-in appointments during extended hours and on weekends. Solv even has clinic partners in the Lake City-area that offer online scheduling, allowing you to book a visit convenient to your schedule and skip the wait.

Walk-in clinics provide a convenient, fast alternative to emergency rooms—even primary care providers—treating minor injuries and illnesses including strep throat, infections, cold and flu symptoms, allergies, rashes, burns, bites, and more. Additionally, most offer preventative care including annual well exams, lab testing, and vaccinations.

When you’re in need of medical care for a non-life threatening condition, trust the urgent care providers nearby. And whenever possible, make it easier by scheduling and managing your visit with Solv.

A Patient's Guide to Urgent Care

In a recent survey conducted with the Urgent Care Association, Solv found that patients were waiting an average of 24 days for appointments with their primary care provider. In a world of instant gratification, consumers demand more. They demand now. If you want to watch a movie, you download it in minutes or stream it instantly. If you need groceries, you can pick up your phone and have them delivered to you within the hour. If you need restaurant reservations, you find one with availability, book online, walk in minutes later and sit right down. Healthcare shouldn’t be any different.

That’s why urgent care has been growing at a faster pace than any other healthcare service in the United States. And it is why healthcare consumers search for “urgent care” more than 5x more than “primary care” or “family doctor,” combined. These consumers are highly actionable, searching with high intent terms like “urgent care near me.” They want same day access to quality healthcare providers when they are sick or injured - after hours, one weekends and on holidays - without the cost and inconvenience of the emergency room.

Urgent care centers typically treat minor illnesses like the flu, sinus infections and strep throat, as well as injuries like bone fractures and sprains, cuts, scrapes and burns, making these clinics ideal for diagnosing and treating non-emergent healthcare needs. And at a growing rate urgent care clinics are offering preventative care services including annual physicals and well visits, flu shots and other immunizations and vaccines, taking on the role of primary care provider for the tens of millions of consumers that don’t have one.

For kids there are special pediatric urgent care centers, usually open after hours for patients between the ages of 1 and 18.

Urgent Care Services & Pricing

Urgent care centers, which are part of the walk-in clinic healthcare category, are a convenient resource for consumers needing treatment for minor illnesses and injuries. Services that you would normally receive at your primary care office are usually available at an urgent care including annual and school physicals, flu shots and immunizations, treatment for illnesses including colds, flu stomach pains, sinus and ear infections and more. You can also be seen for injuries such as burns, bites, sprains and breaks - things that you might first thing to go to the emergency room vs urgent care, but you’ll have a shorter wait and smaller bill at the urgent care. As for cost, without insurance, you should expect between $100-140 for your visit, plus the cost of any labs, tests or images. With insurance, urgent care will be similar to seeing a specialist with applicable co-pay.

Insurance & Payments

Nearly all urgent care centers take commercial insurance and many (if not most) will take medicare. As such if you have insurance coverage, you can expect the financial experience to be similar to visiting a specialist where you have a co-pay, usually $35-50, due at the time of the visit. Any additional lab work, x-rays or other tests performed will be billed against your insurance first and any supplemental balance due will be invoiced to you after the fact. Without insurance, you’ll pay a visit fee between $100-140 at the time of your visit. This is typically 25-50% more than your primary care provider, but usually the convenience is well worth the additional cost. If you are interested in a telehealth or video visit, your cost could be as much as 50% less than an urgent care, you could be diagnosed and prescribed medication and you’ll never have to leave your home.

Urgent Care Hours & Wait Times

Every urgent care center - even those part of the same group or brand - may have different hours. While they are meant to be conveniently accessible during times when your primary care provider is not, that’s subjective and highly variable. A traditional formula, however, is that an urgent care is open 6 to 7 days a week usually between the hours of 8 am to 8 pm. That could shift to nearly any 8-12 hour period between 7 am and 10 pm. You’ll even find some clinics open 24 hours a day, similar to an emergency room. As for wait time, most patients report waiting between 15-45 minutes on average, but that can certainly vary, as well. It’s usually best to find an urgent care near you to either confirm the hours online, or call the clinic directly to verify. Or, you can book a same day doctor appointment online with Solv.
