This clinic is impeccable. Dr. Stephenson is patient, kind, and understanding. He takes the time to explain things to me in a way that is easy to understand. His staff is so kind and efficient. I am able to get in and out of the clinic in the time that other clinics would have me in the waiting room. I highly recommend this little gem of a clinic!

Omg so so good!! I first went to Waikiki to a 5 star yelp review clinic it was called Doctors of Waikiki. They wanted 400.00 to see a Dr.!! I left and als I had to pay the stupid parking on top of that. So I googled and this Kakaako clinic came up. “Island urgent Care.” I called it was Veterans Day and they were OPEN!! Yay!! They took me right away and in no time I was seen by a wonderful Dr. Kauhane! He was kind, efficient, nice bed side manner and actually cares ! It also was a great price, I will be going there from now on!! Front desk Chanelle was cool and the nurse who took me in the back was gracious.

Urgent Care FAQs

  • How much will an urgent care visit in Kailua cost?

The price charged at an urgent care, whether in Kailua or elsewhere, will be based on the location, and there are no actual standard costs between the clinics. Assuming you are paying with cash, you might come across an urgent clinic that charges you $50 while another situated some mile away charges you $100 for the same services. The standard cost in urgent care where insurance cover is not involved ranges from $100 to $125. This price is generally the standard price of a visit before extra services. There are a couple of additional care services that could make your appointment to an urgent care costly including x-rays and lab tests, medications and injections (such as immunization), casting broken bones, as well as stitches and splints. If you have a viable insurance plan in place, the standard pay will be between $20 – 50 depending on your insurance coverage and whether you are in contact with the provider.

  • Are Kailua urgent care centers open after hours?

Most primary care doctor offices are open during routine work hours, Monday thru Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Conversely, most of the urgent care centers in Kailua are available after hours, on weekends, and many holidays. Typical urgent care hours are 8:00 am to 8:00 pm daily, although location-specific hours may vary.

  • Do urgent care centers in Kailua take appointments?

Historically, urgent care centers were strictly an on-demand, walk-in healthcare service mode. More recently, as consumer behaviors and expectations have evolved, many urgent care clinics have begun offering book ahead visits, allowing consumers to select a same-day or next-day time that works best for their schedule. Use Solv to find a Kailua urgent care center that offers advanced bookings (or appointments) and book online.

  • How do I book an appointment online with an urgent care in Kailua?

Solv allows Kailua residents and visitors to book urgent care visits online with just a few taps. Same-day and next-day visit times are generally available, and you can search for real-time availability clinics.

  • How can I find an urgent care in Kailua who takes my insurance?

Solv allows you to find any of the urgent care and walk-in clinics in Kailua, many of which accept most major commercial insurances. Just browse the clinics page to see if your carrier and plan is listed. If you are still unsure, it is best to contact the urgent care center directly for clarification.

  • Do Kailua urgent care centers offer virtual visits or telemedicine?

Many urgent care centers, including those in Kailua, now offer virtual visits or telemedicine for residents and visitors throughout the state. Virtual urgent care visits are generally booked online whether in advance or on-demand. Clinics that do offer virtual care have a video icon on their profiles.

  • What is the best urgent care center in Kailua?

While it would be easy to provide a list of urgent care centers in and around Kailua, 'best' is a challenging term to qualify. For some consumers, that could mean the closest location whereas other people may prioritize patient reviews, service costs, availability, or whether or not the provider accepts their insurance. With the list of locations above, use the filters provided to narrow the results to find the best urgent care for your needs.

  • What is urgent care?

Urgent care are available to assist patients that are looking for immediate, convenient medical care. In that manner, they are similar to an emergency room. The difference, however, is that ERs are meant to treat major, life-threatening injuries and illnesses while urgent care centers manage life’s minor bruises and bumps. In simple terms, an urgent care is seen as a walk-in health center that focuses in offering non-emergent health care conditions, including the treatment of the typical illnesses and injuries such as fractures and sprains, cuts and burns, scrapes, stings and bites, flu and cold symptoms, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, and much more. Most urgent care facilities offer both diagnostic and preventive care such as well visits, immunizations, STD testing and annual physicals. For regular visits and check-ups on these clinics, you should expect to pay between $20 and $100. The good thing is that most urgent care clinics will accept major PPOs and insurance cover, Medicare, as well as self-pay in the form of credit cards or cash. Urgent care clinics are located in most parts of the country in various regions to offset emergency room visits and provide a gap in healthcare services. They take patients during all hours of operations, which offer a significant convenience to most people who have and continue to undergo the need for sudden and immediate medical attention.

Recent Urgent Care Reviews (20)

I went to the Kahului clinic. I do highly recommend this clinic. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. This is the second visit here in the last 2 years. Definitely go here if you need urgent care but are unable to go to your regular doctor or don’t feel it requires going to the hospital. The only thing I was not satisfied with was the wait time. First it took 1 hr just to see me then another 1 & 1/2 hours after I was taken back to the exam room. I can sympathize with their increasing work load due to Covid but I believe after my tests were done they just forgot about me. I had to literally go look for someone to come back to my exam room after waiting 30 minutes for a test they said took 15 minutes. Sorry I usually don’t do these reviews. I still recommend them highly, just was disappointed with my wait time.

Really grateful to find this urgent Care West Maui while on vacation. My son was very sick. I called a few places before deciding to go to this clinic. The minit urgent care clinic was extremely rude to me when I called. This Dr at Urgent care west Maui was very knowledgeable, caring and friendly. So happy we went here. Having my son get so sick while out of the country(Canada) was very scary. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I would recommend them to anyone, especially if you are travelling from another country. My son started feeling better immediately after the first dose of his prescribed medicine. Thank you Urgent Care West Maui and Dr Ahmad Rana for being so wonderful to us.

While on Maui I had what appeared to be an allergic reaction. As an RN of 38 years I knew that I needed immediate care. I was reluctant to go to an urgent care as I knew they would be limited in what they could do to help. Since my reaction was quite severe I did know they could at least stabilize me. From the first moment we arrived the receptionist Vanessa could see I was unwell and brought out an RN to assess me. Ariel came out an immediately brought me back. There I was assessed by Heidi (PA). She started anaphylaxis protocol right away. Ariel (RN) and Chelsea (RN) attended to me right away. Heidi consulted with her medical director about my unusual symptoms and a diagnosis of Scromboid poisoning was made. Basically a weird form of fish poisoning. I cannot say enough about how awesome the staff was. They went above and beyond in caring for me. God’s angels.

I chose this clinic because it was 5 minutes from our condo. Came in and everyone was very pleasant from the moment I came in to the moment I left. The overall time I was in there was probably 45 minutes or so and that included the video chat with the provider and the ordered tests. They made sure I was well taken care of during the entire visit. I would definitely recommend this urgent care to anyone in the Waikiki area.

- Verified patient on 1/11

I appreciate very much the kindness of both staff and physician, I saw Dr. Langston and a nurse named Tory, and met a new employee named Falyn. I would highly recommend this place and the people, and I feel grateful knowing they are there. High caliber professionals with caring support staff made this urgent care center a great experience for my first medical visit near my new Maui home .

- Verified patient on 1/8

Very quick, friendly and knowledgeable service from beginning to end Don’t let the other places fool you and lure you in by saying they have only doctors. This is a way to charge you more. Nurse practitioners are extremely intelligent and have a better bedside manner. 10/10 would recommend this place for urgent care needs.

- Verified patient on 8/13

It was a pleasant experience and interaction with work personnel. They were all very kind, professional, and Very fast. However, I would prefer urgent care to notify patients before arriving for their test the cost of copay. I and many other patients were not aware our insurance would not cover the cost. I have a medicaid and only working part time due to covid so paying 130-230 out of pocket is very difficult. During a pandemic you would think covid testing is essential since my job requires it.

- Verified patient on 12/29

Friendly staff, efficient reservation system. Just waiting for Covid-19 test results to be within the time frame used for travel purposes. Hoping that Urgent Care doesn’t disappoint me as Vault Health through Hawaiian Airlines did yesterday.

- Verified patient on 11/2

Made an appointment online for a covid test. The website said $150 per local cv test and 24 hour results. Was sent an email stating I would get a link to a video conference 10 minutes before my appointment. Realized this was not applicable. When I went to the appointment I was told the fee was $209 now and the turnaround for results was 24-48 hours. The reason I booked at this urgent care which was more than a test at CVS but the turnaround was listed as 24 hours and I could make an advanced appointment. I feel it was terribly wrong to advertise $150 with 24-hour results and then not honor the agreement we had signed up for.

Im so elated that i was able to get care for my sinus infection. My PCP is never available until after 4pm for telehealth, my nearby Urgent Care did not invest in telehealth technology. Your staff was so friendly, helpful and patient. Dr. Jose helped me to get medicine i needed to immediately start feeling better and contine on with my journey of health and wellness.

Very happy with this urgent care! They were ridiculously kind and friendly to my terrified son and explained everything. They were super patient, friendly, funny and did a fantastic job stitching him and sending him home with everything we needed. Thank you! Honestly, this was probably the best urgent care experience I’ve ever had...from the receptionist to the nurse to the PA they were all absolutely AMAZING! 10/10 stars! If you get injured on vacation then this is where you need to go!!

- Verified patient on 4/18

Urgent Care Hawaii is great! UCH always provides top notch medical care in a prompt and friendly manner.

It was an excellent Telmed experience. I was seen promptly, my problem was addressed, and follow-on treatment was arranged. Urgent Care staff were professional, extremely competent, and open and understanding, as always.

- Verified patient on 9/20

My first experience with urgent care was not a good one. One of my kids had knee surgery on Friday, but his pain medicine was ineffective, so I went to urgent care and waited two hours to see the doctor only to find out that urgent care does not prescribe narcotics. I was very angry because I wasted two hours keeping my kid in pain. Subsequent visits were wonderful. It’s convenient to go to urgent care and Kapolei, so I don’t have to drive all the way into town for a sick note for work. I had to go for Covid testing and each time the star was efficient. I had to take one of my kids in for testing for Covid, and although we had to wait because it was crowded, it was a good visit. The wait is par with any other ER or doctors office. It’s difficult to keep a kid in pain, but I don’t blame urgent care for this. I’m sure every medical clinic, doctors office, ER, and urgent care has to deal with drug seekers. I am very thankful for urgent care, and I respect the people who work there there

- Verified patient on 4/16

Started at another Urgent care but would have to wait 3 hrs. Went to urgent care west Maui and got right in. Staff was excellent was seen by a physician and treated. They don’t accept insurance so you have to pay and submit for reimbursement. But the charges were very reasonable. They will be our go to facility if we need urgent care in the future.

- Verified patient on 4/1

I had an excellent experience with Urgent Care Hawaii. The process to set up my appointment on my mobile device using the application "Solv" was very efficient and easy to do. The Urgent Care staff contacted me via text message to notify me that they will be assisting me the process; registering me into the system and connecting me with the physician using the the video call tool, on the "Solv" platform. I was greeted by Dr. DUBUQUE, Christopher who had already gone over my symptoms prior to the call, using the information that I had submitted while setting up my appointment. Dr. DUBUQUE was effective, efficient and very kind during our video call. He was able to meet my necessary medical needs, and made me feel comfortable during our interaction. My overall experience with Urgent Care Hawaii was "AWESOME", I really liked the convenience of being able to get assessed and recieve the medical help that I need without going to the clinic, and by simply being in the comfort of my own home using my mobile device. I just want to thank Dr. DUBUQUE, Christopher and the Urgent Care Hawaii staff, for the professional customer service, and that feeling of aloha when being helped.

- Verified patient on 5/23

Urgent Care Hawaii is wonderful! The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable and the process was so easy!

I am extremely happy with my first video visit. Dr. Jose came on early and was very thorough and took time to listen to all my concerns. She's so friendly and polite, great bedside manners. So grateful for this service since I don't drive and my regular physician steered me to an urgent care for my symptoms. Very convenient and will do again if I need to.

- Verified patient on 4/16

Reason for my call was to get retested for covid19 as recommended by my PCP. My PCP could place an order for Pali Momi testing location, however, I selected urgent care for its convenient location of Kapolei. The doctor during my virtual call was hesitant in approving my test and questioned my PCP, but ended up allowing the test. I felt as if there was push back and I was not satisfied as I believe during this pandemic, access to testing should be easy.

Getting Urgent Care in Kailua, HI

Urgent care in Kailua is your best option for non-life threatening, quality medical care when you need it. Many urgent care centers in Kailua offer walk-in appointments during extended hours and on weekends. Solv even has clinic partners in the Kailua-area that offer online scheduling, allowing you to book a visit convenient to your schedule and skip the wait.

Walk-in clinics provide a convenient, fast alternative to emergency rooms—even primary care providers—treating minor injuries and illnesses including strep throat, infections, cold and flu symptoms, allergies, rashes, burns, bites, and more. Additionally, most offer preventative care including annual well exams, lab testing, and vaccinations.

When you’re in need of medical care for a non-life threatening condition, trust the urgent care providers nearby. And whenever possible, make it easier by scheduling and managing your visit with Solv.

A Patient's Guide to Urgent Care

In a recent survey conducted with the Urgent Care Association, Solv found that patients were waiting an average of 24 days for appointments with their primary care provider. In a world of instant gratification, consumers demand more. They demand now. If you want to watch a movie, you download it in minutes or stream it instantly. If you need groceries, you can pick up your phone and have them delivered to you within the hour. If you need restaurant reservations, you find one with availability, book online, walk in minutes later and sit right down. Healthcare shouldn’t be any different.

That’s why urgent care has been growing at a faster pace than any other healthcare service in the United States. And it is why healthcare consumers search for “urgent care” more than 5x more than “primary care” or “family doctor,” combined. These consumers are highly actionable, searching with high intent terms like “urgent care near me.” They want same day access to quality healthcare providers when they are sick or injured - after hours, one weekends and on holidays - without the cost and inconvenience of the emergency room.

Urgent care centers typically treat minor illnesses like the flu, sinus infections and strep throat, as well as injuries like bone fractures and sprains, cuts, scrapes and burns, making these clinics ideal for diagnosing and treating non-emergent healthcare needs. And at a growing rate urgent care clinics are offering preventative care services including annual physicals and well visits, flu shots and other immunizations and vaccines, taking on the role of primary care provider for the tens of millions of consumers that don’t have one.

For kids there are special pediatric urgent care centers, usually open after hours for patients between the ages of 1 and 18.

Urgent Care Services & Pricing

Urgent care centers, which are part of the walk-in clinic healthcare category, are a convenient resource for consumers needing treatment for minor illnesses and injuries. Services that you would normally receive at your primary care office are usually available at an urgent care including annual and school physicals, flu shots and immunizations, treatment for illnesses including colds, flu stomach pains, sinus and ear infections and more. You can also be seen for injuries such as burns, bites, sprains and breaks - things that you might first thing to go to the emergency room vs urgent care, but you’ll have a shorter wait and smaller bill at the urgent care. As for cost, without insurance, you should expect between $100-140 for your visit, plus the cost of any labs, tests or images. With insurance, urgent care will be similar to seeing a specialist with applicable co-pay.

Insurance & Payments

Nearly all urgent care centers take commercial insurance and many (if not most) will take medicare. As such if you have insurance coverage, you can expect the financial experience to be similar to visiting a specialist where you have a co-pay, usually $35-50, due at the time of the visit. Any additional lab work, x-rays or other tests performed will be billed against your insurance first and any supplemental balance due will be invoiced to you after the fact. Without insurance, you’ll pay a visit fee between $100-140 at the time of your visit. This is typically 25-50% more than your primary care provider, but usually the convenience is well worth the additional cost. If you are interested in a telehealth or video visit, your cost could be as much as 50% less than an urgent care, you could be diagnosed and prescribed medication and you’ll never have to leave your home.

Urgent Care Hours & Wait Times

Every urgent care center - even those part of the same group or brand - may have different hours. While they are meant to be conveniently accessible during times when your primary care provider is not, that’s subjective and highly variable. A traditional formula, however, is that an urgent care is open 6 to 7 days a week usually between the hours of 8 am to 8 pm. That could shift to nearly any 8-12 hour period between 7 am and 10 pm. You’ll even find some clinics open 24 hours a day, similar to an emergency room. As for wait time, most patients report waiting between 15-45 minutes on average, but that can certainly vary, as well. It’s usually best to find an urgent care near you to either confirm the hours online, or call the clinic directly to verify. Or, you can book a same day doctor appointment online with Solv.
