Quest Diagnostics - 6 Euclid Ave
Great discreet service, scheduled my visit and paid for for the test online not in Showed up at lab, checked in and was seen within minutes. Blood and urine were collected, test results came back quickly within 2 days because I did my test on a Friday. Quick, easy and cheap. Didn't have to wait for a visit to my PCP, and then get referral to lab.

Short Wait Time

I came in feeling a variety of low-grade annoyances, including having a persistent cough each night. My family and I have always had great attentive, friendly, professional, and quality care here. Yesterday, I had a wonderful nurse and NP Susan Mckelvey. I was able to find out why I'd been feeling ill - which was after my doctor's regular hours - with way less cost and time than an ER trip. I had several tests run, got to the bottom of why I'd been feeling so off, had a quick prescription called in - and today I'm already feeling tons better. Thanks so much!

Ithaca Chlamydia Testing

Who should get tested for chlamydia?

According to the CDC, anyone who is sexually active can get chlamydia. However, the infection is most common among young people, particularly women aged 25 and younger. Furthermore, individuals with multiple sexual partners, those who do not use condoms consistently, and those who have had chlamydia before are at a higher risk. If you live in Ithaca or any of the nearby cities such as South Hill, Newfield Hamlet, Freeville, Groton, or Trumansburg, and you fall into these categories, you should consider getting tested.

Importance of getting tested

Chlamydia is a common sexually transmitted infection that often shows no symptoms, making it easy to spread unknowingly. If left untreated, it can lead to serious health complications, including infertility in women and increased risk of getting or giving HIV. Regular testing is crucial for early detection and treatment, reducing the risk of complications and transmission to others.

Free STD testing is available at many community health centers. These centers often offer other health services as well, making them a convenient option for comprehensive care.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits for chlamydia are also available. These kits allow you to collect a sample at home and send it to a lab for testing. This can be a good option if you prefer privacy or have difficulty getting to a testing center.

The prevalence of chlamydia in Ithaca is reflective of national trends, with young people and women being the most affected groups. However, specific local data is necessary for a more accurate picture of the situation in Ithaca and surrounding areas like Hampden County, Hampshire County, Berkshire County, Franklin County, and Sussex County.

Risk factors related to chlamydia in Ithaca

Risk factors for chlamydia in Ithaca are similar to those nationally. These include being sexually active, having multiple sexual partners, inconsistent condom use, and previous chlamydia infections. Local factors such as access to healthcare, education levels, and socioeconomic status may also contribute to the risk.

Other STDs in Ithaca

In addition to chlamydia, other common STDs in Ithaca include gonorrhea, HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis. Regular testing for these STDs is recommended for sexually active individuals, particularly those with multiple partners or those who do not consistently use condoms. Testing for these STDs can often be done at the same time as chlamydia testing.
