I went in to get a steroid shot and he only prescribed cream. I went 3 nights without sleep and needed a shot.  He said I didn’t need it.  Today, I visited my regular dr and got the shot. I felt better in a few hours.  The front desk girl and nurse were wonderful.

I cannot say enough good things about my visit. It started with being open on a holiday. The ease of scheduling an appointment online was very convenient. As soon as I arrived, I was checked in by a super friendly employee. Not long after I was called to the back. Nurse Practitioner Guzan was AMAZING! From her knowledge to bed side manner and everything in between, she was exactly what I needed. She fixed me up quickly and I was on my way to recovery. I cannot thank NP Guzan and the staff enough. I highly recommend visiting this location.

This is my go to location, there are a many places I could stop that are closer but the wait times, Dx, Rx, and staff have always been perfect. I’m somewhat of an unusual patient as my symptoms overlap with acute Dx and autoimmune issues so someone who will listen is crucial, this location has been spot on each time.  I go here if I need an appointment quickly and can’t get in with my PCP. Thanks for the great service!

This place is a little gem tucked away in a commercial corner of our neighborhood.  It’s become the first choice go-to place of any non-emergency condition when you don’t want to wait two weeks for an appointment.  The staff here is GREAT.  In-and-Out is appropriately named: usually less than one hour.  We recommend them highly.

I came in one day without an appoint and waited two hours as a walk-in before I had to leave without being tested. I made an appointment through Quest Lab Testing for the next day, showed up on time, got tested easily and was on my way in 15-20 minutes. Staff is friendly and helpful.

I was able to choose a Quest lab location and schedule an appointment. Check in was easy, and I only needed to provide my name and DOB. They were able to locate my order in their system. They were already aware that my labs were paid for prior to the appointment. I had my labs done on a Wednesday, and I received my results by Saturday. Great experience.

I was very surprised with my experience here. My appointment was made very quickly. I was seen in a very short period of time. My test results came back in a very timely manner. I was able to speak with a doctor soon after and was taking care of. I was very satisfied with the experience I had here. Slidell Cholesterol Tests

Cholesterol isn't always a negative thing. It aids in the growth of cells and the production of hormones, among other things. On the other hand, too much cholesterol might be dangerous.

Cholesterol comes from two different places. The liver produces cholesterol, and dietary cholesterol comes from the foods you eat. Cholesterol is found in meat, dairy, and eggs, among other animal products. Foods high in saturated and trans fats may cause your liver to produce more cholesterol than you need, resulting in dangerous cholesterol levels.

High cholesterol increases the risk of heart attack and stroke, which are two of the leading causes of mortality in the United States. In the United States, approximately 38% of people have high total cholesterol levels. Because high cholesterol has no symptoms, it's critical to have your levels checked to ensure they're within normal ranges. Cholesterol levels in children and teenagers should also be checked.

According to the CDC, those over the age of 20 who have a low risk of cardiovascular disease should get their cholesterol checked every five years. Those with risk factors for cardiovascular disease should have their cholesterol checked more frequently. Other risk factors for heart disease

Fortunately, simple lifestyle changes can help you lower your cholesterol. Reduce your intake of saturated fats and eliminate trans fats from your diet as much as feasible. Trans fats are widely found in store-bought cookies and baked goods, and are labeled as "partially hydrogenated vegetable oil" on food labels. Limit your intake of processed foods, especially those heavy in sugar, and consume lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Increase your physical activity by at least three times per week. Any type of physical activity is useful. Instead of taking the elevator during your lunch break, go for a walk. Aim for at least 10,000 steps per day.

Don't smoke, and drink alcohol only in moderation. Not only will these changes help you lower your cholesterol, but they will also improve your cardiovascular health.

Cholesterol Test FAQs

  • Do I need to see a doctor before getting a cholesterol test in Slidell?

  • What can I eat the night before a cholesterol test?

  • How do I interpret cholesterol blood test results?

Total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol should be low, whereas HDL cholesterol should be high. Inquiring with your doctor for assistance in interpreting your results is always a good idea. High total cholesterol may be caused by a higher HDL level, which is actually good. It's vital to understand how your test findings are broken down.

  • What is a normal cholesterol range?

Pricking your finger with a lancet and transferring a few drops of blood to a test strip are the most common methods for at-home cholesterol testing. Unfortunately, if these tests aren't done appropriately, they can be inaccurate. Furthermore, they usually only measure total cholesterol, which isn't as useful as knowing how your LDL and HDL cholesterol are distributed. For the best results, have the test performed by a certified healthcare provider.
