Restore Health Urgent Care - 1840 Eldron Blvd SE, Palm Bay
. The front desk staff was friendly but the nurse taking vitals etc acted like it was an imposition the I was there. I was finally seen one hour and 10 minutes after my scheduled appointment. Unfortunately the nurse Practioner was not able to help so overall it was a negative experience.

About Gonorrhea Testing

Who should get tested for gonorrhea?

Anyone who is sexually active can contract gonorrhea, especially those with multiple sexual partners or those who do not use barrier protection methods. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that sexually active women under the age of 25, as well as older women with risk factors such as new or multiple sex partners, should be tested annually. Men who have sex with men should also be tested at least once a year. If you live in Palm Bay, FL, and fall into any of these categories, it is advisable to get tested.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for gonorrhea is crucial because the infection often shows no symptoms, especially in women. If left untreated, it can lead to serious health issues such as pelvic inflammatory disease in women and epididymitis in men, both of which can cause infertility. According to the CDC, gonorrhea can also increase the risk of getting or transmitting HIV. Regular testing allows for early detection and treatment, preventing these complications.

Comparatively, the rate of gonorrhea in Brevard County is lower than in some nearby counties, such as Nassau County and Columbia County. However, it's still important to be aware of the risk and get tested if you're sexually active.

Risk factors related to gonorrhea in Palm Bay

Risk factors for gonorrhea in Palm Bay, FL, are similar to those in other parts of the country. These include having multiple sexual partners, having unprotected sex, and being a man who has sex with men. Younger people, particularly those aged 15-24, are also at higher risk.

Other STDs in Palm Bay

Gonorrhea is not the only STD of concern in Palm Bay, FL. Other common STDs include chlamydia, HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis.
