I have to say that the Newark urgent care is the best urgent care i have been to. I was treated like a human being by the secretary, the nurse and the doctor lady, they all showed care. They dident just chalk my simptoms up to copd or virus they took the time and care to treat me and listened to what i had to say i finally wS able to get the medicine to treat me and on my way to recovery, because of you i can breath again and because of that i have found a way to quit smoking! Thank you to the staff at Newark urgent care ! I give you 5 stars.

My wife and I have made 3-4 visits to the Center and were pleasantly surprised at this apparently well-kept secret. We were especially impressed with the breadth of types of services that are provided. The name of the facility doesn't do justice to the wide range of services. Staff members are friendly, competent and very familiar with payment options, insurance coverage. Doctors are thorough and spend adequate time with their patients. Highly recommend!

Getting Tested for STDs in Geneva, NY

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider regular STD testing as part of their healthcare routine, especially those with multiple partners or those who do not consistently use barrier methods of protection. It's also important for pregnant women to get tested, as some STDs can be passed from mother to baby during childbirth. If you're in Geneva, NY, or nearby cities like Hall, Waterloo, Phelps, Seneca Falls, or Clifton Springs, you have access to multiple testing options.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is crucial for maintaining your health and the health of your partners. Many STDs are asymptomatic, meaning they don't show any signs or symptoms. But even without symptoms, these diseases can still cause serious health problems if left untreated. According to the CDC, untreated STDs can lead to infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased susceptibility to HIV. Regular testing allows for early detection and treatment, reducing the risk of these complications.

Std testing options in Geneva, NY:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care and walk-in clinics are convenient options for STD testing. They often offer same-day appointments and extended hours, making it easy to fit testing into your schedule. In Geneva, you can book appointments at clinics like Rochester Immediate Care Penfield and Excelcare through Solv's website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Your primary care provider is another great resource for STD testing. They can provide testing as part of your regular check-up, and can also provide treatment or referrals if needed. If you don't have a primary care provider, Solv can help you find one in the Geneva area.

Free STD testing and community health centers

For those without insurance or with limited income, free STD testing may be available at community health centers. These centers often provide testing on a sliding fee scale based on income. In Geneva, Extended Medical Services is one such community health center offering STD testing.

At-home testing

At-home STD testing kits are another option. These kits allow you to collect a sample at home and send it to a lab for testing. While convenient, it's important to choose a reputable company to ensure accurate results. Solv can provide guidance on reputable at-home testing options.

Prevalence of STDs in Geneva

The prevalence of STDs varies by location. In Seneca County, where Geneva is located, the STD rate is lower than in some nearby counties like Berkshire and Sussex, but higher than in others like Morris and Orange, according to the CDC. It's important to note that these rates can change over time and may be influenced by factors such as access to healthcare, public health initiatives, and community awareness of STDs.

Risk factors related to STDs in Geneva

Risk factors for STDs in Geneva are similar to those in other parts of the country. These include having multiple sexual partners, not using condoms consistently, and having a history of STDs. Certain demographic factors, such as age and socioeconomic status, can also influence risk. For example, STD rates are often higher among young adults and those with limited access to healthcare. Community initiatives to increase access to testing and promote safe sex practices can help reduce these risks.
