Quest Diagnostics - 3935 Lake Michigan Dr NW
I was very surprised with my experience here. My appointment was made very quickly. I was seen in a very short period of time. My test results came back in a very timely manner. I was able to speak with a doctor soon after and was taking care of. I was very satisfied with the experience I had here. I definitely recommend using them for any issues you have or any questions you may have.

Highly Rated

This was my husband’s and my second visit to this HH Urgent Care facility. Our first was last February when my husband broke his wrist in a fall on the ice. This was a very positive experience considering the situation. We connected with the nurse there who was trained as a chiropractor and understood our desire to be as holistic as possible. Considering this was a broken bone with terrible swelling situation this was sill a highly satisfying medical experience. This week I sought treatment for myself at this same HH Urgent Care. It was an act of God that we partnered with Dr. Garett Shook who turned out to be a DO trained Pediatrician and Emergency Medicine Physician. He listened to my situation and my holistic desires, he was very compassionate and worked in partnership with me on my diagnosis and office surgery treatment. I explained I do best if he talked me through what he was doing and he was willing to do this, and did so. He immediately understood my desire to do the least medicine possible and he was agreeable to this. He made suggestions and gave me options, which I appreciated tremendously. He understood my desire to try to not take antibiotics if possible and his office surgery technique was very gentle and manageable. In spite of my high pain levels I felt highly satisfied with his treatment and left feeling that I wanted to find out where this physician practiced and see him on a regular basis. Surprisingly we re-connected a second time with the same male nurse (from our February visit) who remembered us from our first visit and we chatted again. In my Kalamazoo, MI past (I am age 68) I have not had a satisfactory experience(s) at an urgent care clinic; however, I can highly recommend this urgent care facility for its quality of care. It has been a five-star experience both times I have gone to HH Urgent Care.

Getting Tested for STDs in Muskegon, MI

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). This includes both individuals who are currently experiencing symptoms and those who are not. It's important to note that many STDs can be asymptomatic, which means they do not show any signs or symptoms. Therefore, regular testing is crucial for anyone who is sexually active, regardless of their age, gender, or sexual orientation. According to the CDC, specific groups such as sexually active women under 25, men who have sex with men, and individuals with multiple sexual partners should be tested more frequently.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is a vital part of maintaining your overall health. Early detection and treatment can prevent many of the serious long-term health consequences associated with STDs, such as infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased susceptibility to HIV. Furthermore, knowing your STD status can help protect your sexual partners from infection.

Std testing options in Muskegon, MI:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care and walk-in clinics provide quick and convenient STD testing services. Watkins Pharmacy Surgical Supply and Northside Immediate Care Center in Muskegon, MI, are two such facilities where you can get tested. These clinics often offer same-day and next-day appointments, which can be booked through Solv’s website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Your primary care provider can also provide STD testing. This can be a good option if you have a long-standing relationship with your provider and feel comfortable discussing your sexual health with them.

Free STD testing and community health centers

For those without insurance or who are concerned about cost, free STD testing may be available at community health centers in and around Muskegon. It's important to contact these centers directly to confirm their services and any potential costs.

At-home testing

At-home STD testing is another option. These tests can be ordered online, done in the privacy of your own home, and then sent to a lab for analysis. This can be a convenient option for those who value privacy or have difficulty accessing traditional healthcare services.

Prevalence of STDs in Muskegon

The prevalence of STDs in Muskegon, MI, is a concern. While exact numbers can fluctuate, Muskegon County has seen an increase in STD rates in recent years, mirroring the national trend. Comparatively, nearby counties such as Ottawa and Wood also report high numbers of STD cases. It's important to note that these figures only represent reported cases, and the actual number of infections could be higher due to underreporting and asymptomatic infections.

Risk factors related to STDs in Muskegon

Several risk factors can contribute to the spread of STDs in Muskegon. These include unprotected sex, having multiple sexual partners, and lack of regular testing. Socioeconomic factors such as limited access to healthcare, poverty, and stigma around sexual health can also contribute to higher STD rates. Efforts to address these risk factors are crucial in controlling the spread of STDs in the community.
